TIME EXPRESSIONS

EXPLANATION
We use these phrases to indicate the time of day that something happens. in the morning in the afternoon in the evening at night (notice that here the preposition is at)

When are these expressions used?

Morning: Afternoon: Evening: Night: 00:01-12:00 12:01-17:00 17:01-21:00 21:01-24:00

Remember, this is not exact and the divisions may vary

EXAMPLE 1

He always gets up at 8:00 in the morning.

What do you drink in the morning? morning?

When I wake up in the morning, I like to drink coffee.

EXAMPLE 2
She is at school until 4:00 in the afternoon.

Do you do your homework in the afternoon? afternoon?

In the afternoon, I come home from school and do my homework.

EXAMPLE 3
The kids watch their favorite cartoons at 8:00 in the evening.

Where do you go in the evening? evening?

They go to the institute in the evening.

EXAMPLE 4

He goes to bed at 9:30 at night.

Do you sleep at night? night?

The stars and the moon come out at night.

Most people sleep at night, but cats usually stay out late
