    The King Baudouin Foundation is a Belgian nonprofit organization that has funded civil society and democracy promotion projects in the Balkans over the past 10 years. It has operated in two phases: first strengthening civil society through small local grants from 2000-2003 with US support; and since 2004 bringing the Balkans closer to the EU through "strategic" grants and advocacy working with governments. Some of its focus areas have included minority rights, student mobility, and assisting victims of human trafficking.
