The Van Derveer School is a public elementary school that serves K through 5th Grade students from the Borough of Somerville, Somerset County. Van Derveer is the first school to sign up for the River Friendly Business Certification Program administered by the New Jersey Water Supply Authority. By participating in the River-Friendly Business program, the school receives guidance and technical assistance to help them protect and improve water resources. The program also provides an opportunity to educate faculty, staff, students as well as the broader community about actions that can be taken to protect water resources in the watershed where they live, work and play.
