Project Charter EMGT 309 Six Sigma

Project Name: Paper Helicopter Group Project Team Members: 1. David Weart 2. Mihir Adivarekar 3. Sujitkumar Dongare Project Overview: XYZ cell are the manufacturers of paper helicopter. They use specific process plan to manufacture paper helicopters. Significant decrease in flight time of these helicopters has been found during data collection. Project aims to increase the flight time of helicopters as well as detect the cause of decreased flight time. Problem Statement: Based on data collected over the past six months, flight time for paper helicopters in the XYZ cell has decreased by 50%. Customer/Stakeholders: Employees of XYZ cell and customers of helicopter. Goal of the Project: To apply various tools of Six Sigma to increase the flight time for paper helicopters in the XYZ cell by 75%. Scope Statement: Team believes that every aspect of manufacturing of paper helicopter is critical in order to increase the flight time by 75%. Hence to achieve the goal of project, team will use Six Sigma approach of DMAIC. Timeline: Week 1: Project Charter submission (Define) Week 2-5: Measure and analysis of base(control) helicopter flight time, Measure and analysis of design helicopters 1-3 (Measure and analyze). Week 6: Select best design helicopter and improve design Week 7: Report findings and reproduce final design (Control) Projected Financial Benefit(s): The Projected financial benefits will include a reduction in the material and productions costs due to the final efficient design. We can also expect an increase in the revenue from the paper helicopters based on the critical to customer requirement of longer flight time.
