Answer the following:

Consider the simple second order Spring Mass Damper (SMD) system shown in gure-1. We are interested in investigating the behavior of the displacement x(t) and thus pick it as the output y(t) = x(t). The governing dierential equation of the system is given by
2 x + 2n x + n x = u(t), 2 where n = K/M , 2n = fv /M , and u(t) = f (t)/M . Let n = 1, = 0.5. The input u(t) = (1 e2t )1(t) of the system is sent through a zero order hold sampling device that samples at a rate of T seconds. Using ODE45 in MATLAB simulate and plot, on the same gure, the output y(t) of the system with initial condition x(0) = [0 0]T corresponding to the four situations where T = 0, 0.1, 0.5, 1 and discuss the eects of sampling on the system response.
