December 13, 2011 To Whom It May Concern: Robin Davies completed her Student Teaching Placement here at Crossfield Elementary School from August 30th to December 23rd, 2011. She spent this time working in a Grade 4 classroom. I wish to provide you a synopsis of the outstanding work she was a part of and give reasons for why she would be a great addition to any staff. Robin is extremely effective at developing a positive rapport with students. She shows a great deal of concern for both their learning and their emotional development. Robin is able to make the students feel special by creating an environment based on trust and mutual respect. One of Robins greatest strengths is her ability to be organized and prepared. Robins unit and lesson plans are extremely organized and detailed. In the planning process she consults the Program of Studies and ensures she is adhering to accepted standards. When working and planning collaboratively she was not afraid to ask for advice and considers feedback from others to improve her planning. Robin creates effective assessment tools and she looks for and uses resources available to her including teachers, other student teachers, as well as print and digital resources. Robin demonstrates understanding of classroom management as an ongoing process that is dependent upon routines within a classrooms culture. She is consistent in her expectations with regards to classroom behaviour. Robins use of consequences is appropriate and respectful toward individual students as well as the group. She always handles any situation by showing consideration for the students. Her relationship with the students is always based on respecting their ideas and opinions. Robin easily established professional relationships with the staff at Crossfield Elementary School. She made many positive contributions to our school community and took on extra responsibilities. She participated in many aspects of school culture; spirit days, school-wide events, classroom celebrations and the Christmas concert. She attended Parent-Teacher Interviews and was an integral part of writing report cards. Robin is well on her way to understanding what being a professional educator is all about. In closing, its important to note that perhaps Robins greatest attribute is that she is a positive role model for children. It goes without saying that we are very fortunate that Robin came to Crossfield Elementary School and we wish her a long, brilliant career as a teacher!
