Aadi Perukku is celebrated on August 3 2011 (Wednesday). Aadi 18 Perukku is celebrated on the 18th day of Tamil month Aadi.

On Aadi Padinettam Perukku devotees visit water bodies, especially River Cauvery and pay respect to the water bodies. This day is good investments and buying gold, silver or any new business or office to be started. Aadi Perukku Celebrations: On this day devotees take turmeric in a Kalasam, dissolve it in River Cauvery then fill the Kalasam with River Cauvery holy water and do puja to it in front traditional Lamp. Women after doing puja in their home, will bring Manjal, Kumkum, Thali Kayiru, and flowers to Kaveri River and do pooja to the holy river. After puja, with the help of elderly women, married women will replace the Mangalyam into new thali kayiru and wear it. Newly wed couples will leave the marriage flower garland into river on this day. In evening, people will prepare special dishes and eat it with their family on the banks of river. SriRangam Temple: Lord Ranganatha will bless devotees by coming to Amma Mandapam in River Cauvery. Temple Elephants will carry flower garlands, Turmeric, Saree, Kumkum, Bangles in a Muram and keep it in front of Lord Ranganatha. After puja, Elephant will enter River and offer the articles in Muram to River Cauvery.
