Course aims:

To enable students to explore the theory and practical aspects of Maths and Chemistry subjects and how they interface within the world today To provide students with a focused environment in order for them to further their attainment within maths and chemistry To provide students with an experience of university teaching and learning To inspire students to choose STEM subjects in their respective future study options

Students will: Undertake a 4 day team based Chemistry or Maths project Present their project during a presentation day to invited guests, parents and carers Content: Chemistry and our Energy Future What do chemists do? The art of the chemist is to understand how atoms and molecules interact to make new substances and also to understand how substances can be broken down into their constituent atoms and molecules. The course will help you experience the creativity of chemistry in making new and useful substances and materials by looking at the processes that can be used to produce hydrogen, the fuel of the future. You will be working with scientists who form part of the Energy Futures Laboratory group at Imperial College within an exciting laboratory environment to practice the art and science of being a chemist whilst developing a project theme linked to current reasearch.
