Selection of type and method of research | Research Methodology

In my research entitled Consumption of Green Tea and Reduction in Risk of Chronic Gastritis the best method that can be used to conduct it would be correlational method of research. This research method is preferred over other various types because a single group can be taken and the relationship between the variables can be obtained. We cannot allow the experiments regarding disease and its medication on human population. Hence, the use of experimental method in which differences between experimental group and control group is compared, cannot be used in this case. Similarly, we cannot group population into two, for instance, those gastritis patients who are consuming green tea and those who are not. Because of this, causal-comparative research or experimental research in this case is not that suitable. As correlational method of research studies the condition of gastritis patient before using green tea and from the point they start using green tea this type is quite a suitable one to adopt. From the changes observed, this form of research finally allows the researcher to derive the relationship between these two variables (green tea and gastritis) in same group of people (gastritis patient). Casual - comparative research involves the collection of data on one independent variable for two or more groups. In this case, independent variable has already occurred in the past and its effect is now to be studied. Accordingly, cause is then seen. But in this case, cause of Gastritis is already known which are illustrated above. The independent variable in this case is the use of green tea. As in casual - comparative research s requisite, it is not necessary that victims should be those who are consuming green tea. In fact, experimental research is a better one in that, effect of green tea, green tea, is going to be studied after its introduction to the selected patients. Moreover, same group is going to be tested on instead of two or more. This allows us to be sure on the result which will be obtained later as the gastritis changes in the same group can be looked and studied well.
