Title : Procedure for Determination of Clinker Litre Weight 1.

Purpose:To ensure that the clinker produced is of good quality by ascertaining the burnability of the clinker resulting in production of good quality of cement. 2. Scope:-

All the different types of this clinker are subjected to this test which is a useful tool in ascertaining the quality of clinker. 3. Responsibility:-

Representative Samples- Shift Testers/Shift Chemist 4. Procedure:-

The sample is collected from the deep bucket conveyor discharge using a hand shovel, approximately five Kgs sample is collected, and the sample is subjected to the following steps of analysis. Clean the 12.5 mm and 6.3 mm test sieves before use. Place the Test sieve of 12.5 mm on 6.3 mm test sieve. Take the container with the sample of Clinker taken from Cooler discharge and transfer it onto the 12.5 mm sieve Shake the Test sieve for sieving the Clinker Clinker sample passing through 12.5 mm sieve are collected over 6.3 mm Test sieve. Shake the 6.3 mm sieve for sieving the Clinker. Repeat the steps 3 through 5 till sufficient quantity is obtained so as to fill the Litre Wt pot. Transfer the screened Clinker sample of 12.5 mm and + 6.3 mm size into the Litre Weight pot. Level the top of the Litre Weight Pot without compacting. Weigh the empty Litre Pot on a balance and note its reading (W1) in grams. Weigh the weight of the Clinker sample in grams on a balance taken in the Litre wt Pot and note the reading as (W2) in grams.

The Litre Weight is calculated as per the following equation

Litre Weight (W) = Sample weight + Container (W2) - the Weight of the Container (W1)
The Litre Weight thus obtained is immediately informed to the CCR/Shift Chemist for taking appropriate action and it is also subsequently entered in the QCMIS/Log sheet for further data retrieval.

. 5. Storage :A portion of the unsieved sample is stored with the date and time of collection for further analysis. 6. Handling :-

Due to exposure to red-hot clinker adequate PPEs should be used so as to avoid any undue spillage on to the body of the concerned Shift Testers. 7. Disposal :-

The balance quantity after the sample preparation is disposed off back to the DBC discharge to Silo. 8. References:-
