TILES FROM KHERSONES

(summary)

In the present article the author reflects on the long known incised marks
on stone blocks discovered during excavations in the Old Bulgarian capital of
Pliska which find their counterparts in signs on roof tiles from Khersones.
According to her, the most probable explanation is that the stone-cutters of Pliska
and the ceramists of the Byzantine Khersones used identical letter signs to identify
their production.
