The Military Situation
- Clashes broke out between the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Al-Assad's battalions in Mezzeh district, Damascus and Kalamoon, Rif Dimashq, amid news about storming Jobar district, Damascus by the Syrian governmental forces. (1)(3)(5) - The Free Syrian Army (FSA) clashed with Al-Assad's detachments in most areas of Deir ez-Zor.(9) - Al-Assad's battalions launched a military campaigndescribed as being the fiercest- against Douma, Rif Dimashq.(1)(5)(8)(9)(11)(15) - 100 elements- affiliated to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) attacked Al-Assad's battalions in Anadan, Aleppo countryside and succeeded in damaging five tanks and securing the exodus of the families to safe areas. (9) - The Free Syrian Army (FSA) negotiates with Al-Assad's forces for exchanging the corpses of about 20 civilianskilled at the hands of the security forces- for the release of a governmental officer kidnapped by the FSA.(1) - US State Department spokesman Mark Toner expressed concern over targeting the leader of the Lebanese Forces Party Samir Geagea due to his criticism against Al-Assad's regime and Hezbollah's actions. In addition, Toner warned Al-Assad not to respect the date of April 10th supported by the United Nations (UN) for putting an end to the terrible suppression campaign currently committed against the Syrian opposition; otherwise he would face further international pressures.(5)(8) - The French Foreign Minister Alain Jupp announced that he is not optimistic about Al-Assad's implementation of Annan's plan, noting that the current circumstances in Al-Assad's battalions from the Syrian cities is not subject to a schedule and that the April 10th date is not connected with that withdrawal, but rather it is connected with to any extent the other parties are stick to the implementation of the plan, according to the Syrian Al-Watan newspaper closely related to Al-Assad's regime.(1)(5)(9)(14)

Political Mobility
- During "The International Campaign in Support of the Syrian People" conference in Istanbul, Farouk Taifour, member of the Syrian National Council (SNC)'s executive committee, said that there are no indications of the decrease in the military operations in Syria, in spite of the fact that the Syrian authorities told Annan that they started to withdraw the troops from three regions.

The Internal Situation


- Calls via the mosques' megaphones calling on the elements of Al-Assad' battalions to dissent from the governmental forces and join the Free Syrian Army (FSA). - The international team- affiliated to the United Nations (UN) - started talks with the officials of Al-Assad's regime in Damascus about the possibility of the deployment of observers with a view to keeping peace in Syria.(1) - Kofi Annan's spokesman Ahmad Fawzi said that AlAssad's regime had told him that it started to withdraw from specific areas, namely Daraa, Idleb and Zabadani. - Rami Abdul-Rahman, director of the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said" We can not talk about the withdrawal of the governmental forces from one of the town's countryside- according to Annan's plan-, while they still shell other towns."(8)
