EDITING
1. INSTRUCTIONAL INTENT: The OCS student will apply lessons learned in previous
blocks of instruction to editing the writing of others.
2. TRAINING OBJECTIVES: As a result of this instruction, the student will accomplish the
following objective:
a. ACTION: Identify the goals, principles, and tools for effective writing.
CONDITION: Given discussion in class.
STANDARD: Student will review the standard and discuss the importance of putting
the bottom line up front; clear support of the bottom line; logical organization; use of the active
voice; and proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
3. STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:
4. CENTRAL POINTS: For a writer to improve his written work, he must receive specific
feedback form the reviewer concerning what requires improvement and revision. The review and
the Quick Screen Edit are tools that will assist the reviewer in providing feedback efficiently and
effectively to the writer.
