Thesharksseemtolikespendingtimeinthesewatersand thereisevenaslightindicationthatanewepicenterisbeginningtoformapproximately20km northeastofCapePoint. Thesharkstendedtoavoidthenorthwesternandsoutheasternquadrantsof FalseBayasthereisnoindicationthatthesharksventuredintothesewaterswithinthis30dayperiod. QualitativeData JacquesKallisandLouiseFitzgeraldprovideduswithsomeexcellentinsightintothetourismindustryin CapeTown,broughtoutbytheiruniqueperspectivesontheissue(seeFigure5). Bytheiraccounts,and asevidencedbythegrowingnumberoftouristarrivalsrecordedatCapeTownInternationalAirport(IETA 2011),thetourismindustryinCapeTownisbooming. Jacquesinformedusthathehaswitnesseda doublingofthenumberofSharkDivingoperatorsinthelastfiveyearsandthepriceofadaytriphas risensignificantlyoverthissametimeperiod(SharkDivingWeekly31). Louisesupportedthisviewpoint
sayingthatCapeTownhasneverbeenthispopular,andshereferencednotonlytherecentFootball WorldCupasaprimeattraction,butalsothenumberofecotourismactivitiesthatcanbefoundinand aroundCapeTown. TheissueofSharkDiving,however,broughtaboutacleardifferenceinviewpoint betweenthetwo,withLouisevehementlyattackingtheactivityascruelanddangerous. SharkDiving operatorsareevil. Theychumthewaterswithdeadfishguts,luringourpreciousGreatWhiteSharks closertohumanactivity,andintheend,thesharksbegintoassociatehumanbeingswithfood. Thisisnot sustainableandnothealthyfortheecosystem(Fitzgerald2012). Kallis,whoworksintheindustry, believesthatSharkDivingdoeslittleharmandhasnthadanynegativeeffectonlocalsortouristsinCape Town. Operatorsgotothesharksanddonotlurethesharkstowardsthecoast(Kallis2012).

Bycomparingtheresultsofboththequantitativeandthequalitativeinformationcollectedwithsecondary data,wecanseemore. Themapbelow(Figure6)showsthelocationsthatthreemajorSharkDiving operatorstendtovisitwhentheytaketouristsout. Whencomparedwiththeheatmapaboveitsclear thatthemajorityofthedivelocations,areasJacquesmentioned,neartheareasthatsharkstendtospend mostoftheirtime.
