(7.5marks) Answer: In an interview by Hamid Meer in Capital talk, President Asif Ali Zardari gets involved in different levels of listening; from the beginning till end, he changed his listening levels according to the Questions types. Mr President tried his best to be a Protective listener in the beginning where he put his self to be a speaker while he heard negative & even hostile questions which were directly aimed at him. He tired to control & to be a protective listener so that he can respond politely to the Interviewers Question, but on the other hand the Questions were asked against his beliefs & interests which later involved him in a Preferential Listening level too. Where he only want to listen according to his interest & nature. He didnt accept any criticism by Hamid Meer, Instead He criticize him as well. question No. 2: What type of listening Journalist Talat Hussain is involved in? Justify your Opinion with logical arguments. (7.5marks) Answer: Journalist Talat Hussain gets involved in Critical type of Listening, He sought to ask such Question which might add useful information to help him Develop his argument. He was well prepared & understood the Imran Khan & his context. His Critical listening was based on the subject-matter being talked about & assumed him sufficiently expert in the subject matter which made him able to form a valid opinion. However, we can say his focus of criticism might be either or both of the subject matter being discussed or the logical structure of the argument being proposed.
