Vote for a Mayor on Thursday 3rd May

An Elected Mayor - Bristols Best Hope

On 3rd May you can vote to have your own City Mayor a champion for Bristol to give us a more powerful voice. Bristol is vibrant, beautiful, brimming with culture and creativity. BUT we punch below our weight. A Mayor will fight for Bristol, in Westminster, in Europe and the world. Mayor can bring greater stability - with a four year term for positive change. A Mayor will boost the local economy, and bring more jobs to the city and its region. A Mayor will fast-track Bristol, bring more cash and have more control over our own affairs The Mayor will be our Mayor, elected by us, chosen by us and answerable to us.

Vote for a Mayor on Thursday 3rd May

The Mayoral System Works.
Its worked in London and in the most successful cities across Europe and the World. This is our one chance to make it work for us. The Mayors office will replace the current leadership. It will be more streamlined and efficient - and gain resources for the city.

Or Do We Want... More Of The Same...Or Worse?

Bristol has been dogged for years by petty party politics. We cant go on like this. We have had seven leadership changes in ten years. The system is a recipe for instability and indecision. The result is short term plans and short term thinking. We dont have a voice at the heart of Government at Westminster. We are seen as politically sleepy. Few people know who our leaders are. Bristol is politically invisible and in danger of being left in the wilderness. Critics ask what happens if the electorate votes for a bad Mayor. We trust the public to choose wisely. Today the leader of the City Council is elected by a handful of councillors. That cannot be what we want. We have a leader for our council, but we NEED a leader for our city.
