IV CHARACTERISTICS OF A SILICON SOLAR CELL INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT 1.

. Draw the I-V curve from the data you obtained from the experiment, for the corresponding silicon solar cell. I.e. the Current (I) in the y-axis & the Voltage (V) in the x-axis. It is not necessary to use manual methods to plot the graphs. You may use any tool you are familiar with, given that you stick to all the standards. 2. From this graph & relevant calculations, determine a. ISC short circuit current b. VOC open circuit voltage 3. Draw the Power (P) against Voltage (V) curve and then find the maximum power point. From that deduce, a. PMAX maximum power b. IMP current at PMAX c. VMP - voltage at PMAX d. FF Fill factor (the ratio of maximum obtainable power to the product of the open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current) 4. Determine the efficiency() of the solar cell 5. Typically solar energy generated by a PV panel is stored in batteries and general setup is shown as below,

A main drawback of this system is that it is not capable to harness maximum possible power with the variation of solar irradiation. The maximum power point (PMAX) of the PV panel is varied with the variation of irradiation level. Propose sensible & viable modifications of the system to overcome this drawback. Clue: Think of controlling the outputs of PV panel.
