Dear Fellow Republican, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is Steve Wise and I am seeking the Republican endorsement for House District 49A. I am a native of Saint Louis Park, a graduate of Benilde-St. Margarets, and received my BS in Accounting from Metropolitan State University. I have five children (two Edina High School grads and one in the US Army), and attend church at St. Patricks and Our Lady of Grace. I have chosen to run for the House seat in District 49A because I believe true, hardworking business owners are sorely under-represented in St. Paul. Im concerned about the unsustainable government bloat and that our elected leaders are unwilling to do anything about it. Much of the problem stems from career politicians being more concerned about their re-election than fighting for the principles of less spending, lower taxes and greater economic freedom that leads to more opportunities for individuals and small businesses throughout our community. I have been CFO/Principal of Cass Screw Machine Products since 1995 and have steered my company and the 100 families we support through some of the toughest times this country has ever seen. I have done this by not being afraid to make the hard decisions and fundamentally understand that small businesses are the core drivers of job creation. My business life has enabled me to take leadership roles in engaging our government officials and civic organizations within our community. Legislative Experience: Six-year Board Director (served term as Board Chair) of the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce and a committed member of the Government Affairs Committee. Over the last year testified in Senate and House committees in favor of repealing the state portion of business property taxes. Testified numerous times about the onerous taxes and regulations put on small businesses by the state of Minnesota.

Serve on Representative Erik Paulsens Small Business Advisory Council Testified on behalf of Legislative Tax Priorities during hearings regarding Governor Pawlentys 21st Century Tax Reform Commission. Participated in Business Day at the Capitol for the last ten years.

Civic/Foundation/Non-Profit Affiliations: Current Opportunity Partners Business Partnership Council Current Board Member of the TwinWest Foundation Past Member Anoka Technical College Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association Ethics in the Workplace and Principal For a Day Program annual participant WorkforceReady DEED Initiative council member.

If we are going to get government spending under control, actually cut taxes, and get Minnesotans back to work, we need someone that has created jobs in the private sector. With our help I am ready to bring our common sense conservative values to St. Paul. I humbly ask for your support on May 10. I will continue to reach out to each and every one of you over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, feel free to contact me at any time. Regards,
