This Summer, Intern at Future Is Now Schools: New Orleans Future Is Now (FIN), led by Green Dot Public

Schools founder Steve Barr, envisions a world in which professional teachers become an active force for change within existing public schools and districts, granted both autonomy and accountability for producing dramatic gains in achievement for their students. FIN: New Orleans is seeking summer interns to prepare for the turnaround of historic John McDonogh High School. At John McDonogh, interns will support an administration, faculty and staff committed to doing whatever it takes to prepare New Orleans students for college and career and to become leaders in their communities. Responsibilities Interns will: Support an educational team committed to excellence, social justice, and the building of sustainable models for school reform Assist with a broad range of operational activities in preparation for the school year, including community outreach Depending on skill set and school needs, work closely with one or more members of the leadership team Qualifications Our ideal intern will be have some type of teaching experience and be committed to urban education reform. A bachelors degree is required. All successful candidates will share the following: Stamina. Accountability. Self-Reflection. Flexibility. Enthusiasm.
