Directions
1. Notify the Executive Vice President at asg-executivevp@northwestern.edu and the
Financial Vice President at asg-financialvp@northwestern.edu of your interest before you
begin this application.
2. Read the SAFB Guidelines.
3. Complete and submit a typed application not to exceed 6 pages single sided and attach
this sheet to the front of the application. Submit a hardcopy to the FVP’s mailbox in the
ASG office and a softcopy to asg-financialvp@northwestern.edu. Failure to submit both
copies results in an incomplete application. Applications are due no later than the fifth
week of the quarter.
4. Receive an interview time with the Joint Committee for Recognition after a meeting with
the Financial Vice President and the Executive Vice President.
• Why is your organization seeking promotion to A-status? (Pay special attention to the necessity for SAF
funds.)
• How will revenue (75-25) affect your programming and requests from the SAFB?
• Please define your group’s membership and how one attains membership in your organization. Attach a
signed statement of non-discrimination in membership selection.
• Please include an evaluation of past programming, including budgets, and attendance figures.
• Attach a list of the names, addresses, and phone numbers of all officers.
• If your group has a national affiliation or affiliation with a group outside Northwestern University, a copy
of that group’s constitution and by-laws needs to be submitted.
Major Criteria
The Joint Committee is comprised of the Student Activities Finance Board & the Executive
Committee and will judge your application & interview on: Clearly Defined Structure, Group
Stability, Financial Responsibility, Benefit of the SAF to the Group, Illustrated Need for A-
Status, & Direct Benefit to Students. Please see the SAFB Guidelines for a description of each
of these criteria and further information.
