About SHIP The Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) is part of Minnesota's historic bipartisan health care reform initiative first signed into law in 2008. It seeks to reduce the staggering human and financial cost of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and other chronic diseases related to insufficient physical activity, poor nutrition and commercial tobacco use. Administered by the Minnesota Department of Health, SHIP efforts focus on four areas: schools, health care, work places and the community in general. MDH supports local public health and tribal governments by gathering together effective strategies, offering technical assistance and training and assisting in evaluation. SHIP activities and mini-grant projects are funded by a Minnesota Department of Health SHIP grant to Human Services of Faribault and Martin Counties in collaboration with Cottonwood and Jackson Counties Community Health Services and Watonwan County Human Services. For more information about local SHIP activities, please visit: www.shipfmw.blogspot.com or http://www.health.state.mn.us/ship/
