BACK: With 5 mm needles cast on 71 st. Each row is set up as follows: K1, 12 st cable repeat, 45 st 3/3 rib, 12 st cable repeat, K1. Cast off after 66 cm
ASSEMBLY: Mark the 40 cm point on each side of the front and back Sew base together between these markers. Buttonbands: Using 4.5 mm needles pick up 120 st along the top edge of the front and back between the markers at the 40 cm point. Knit 2/2 ribbing, starting and ending with k3 After 1.5 cm, start the buttonholes 3 st from the top of the front, spaced 12 sts apart (4 per band). Continue until the band measures 3cm then cast off. Hood: Sew together the top edge of the back ( marked A on the diagram). Finish the edge by picking up 100 st along the edge then on the next row (wrong side) cast off with knit st. (You could also crochet an edging if you prefer). Sew on buttons.
