Ours is a new village. It needs a nursery. It does not need a

school. The drinking water tank is far away. The village needs a borewell. It
does not need an ordinary well. There are two streets in the village. We
need street lights, one at each end of both the streets. The needs of our village

rein-forced in different contexts with additional sets of words.
5.2
HO ` why` is an interrogative pronoun.
t HO? Why a nursery school?

direction and purpose with the nouns and pronouns just as the
suffixes-ge(-V )and -ige(-BV )

@ -@OQ>>@OQ `for that`

present. I may admit them to a school near to my house. But that is not a
good school. There are no facilities. There are only three teachers for four
classes. There are 200 children. There is no ayah or an attender in the school.
So I want to send them to a good school. The model school is far away. But
it is a very good school. The Head Master is a very good person. There are
more than 30 teachers and only 300 children.

Not only through their duties attached to the positions they hold but
also as members of this society.
First let us see what they can do as Government servants for the
welfare of the people. They can help the poor in getting the Government
aid. They can see that the developmental programmes reach the target
audience. They can serve as centers to pass information from Government
to the people and at the same time process data from people and send these
to higher ups in the Government.
As members of the society, they can help the people near by their
houses in knowing the rules and regulations. They can do social work like
collecting funds for draught relief work and other relief operations. They
can also be members of social service organizations that work for the welfare
of the people.

Translate the following into Kannada.
A library is a place where we can borrow books. It
usually contains books of all kinds-school books, story books,
dictionaries and others. There are long, long rows of shelves, in some
libraries we can go round and choose the books; in others we must ask
the man in charge for what we want. We have to write the number of
the book, its title, and the name of the author on a piece of paper.
Then we have to sign the paper, hand it to the man, and he will give us
the book. We can usually keep it for a week, or perhaps two, before
returning back.

Translate into Kannada.
Yervas are one of the tribes of Karnataka. They live in South
Kodagu. Normally they live in forest area. Their total population is
less than 20,000 according to 1971 Census.
The old men and women of the tribe live at home and look after the
children, look after the cattle. And some of them collect roots in the forest.
The young Yerava men and women go to their own fields for work. Most
of other people go in to work in the forest department. They are involved in
various schemes of the department. Some of the Yeravas work as coolies in
the houses of land lords. The children of Yeravas go to the tribal schools.
These schools are specifically meant for the children of the Scheduled
Tribes. In these schools, children of the other tribes such as Jenukurubas and
Soligas also study. These schools have free boarding hostels.

Translate the following into Kannada.

In India, there are two main crop seasons-kharif, that is,
the season of monsoon crops, and rabi, the season of winter
crops.
During the kharif season rice, bajra, maize, cotton,
sugarcane and groundnut are grown. They are sown about the
beginning of the rainy season and harvested at the beginning of
winter. Wheat, gram, jowar, some pulses and oilseeds are mainly
rabi crops. They are sown after the rains and are ready for
harvesting before the beginning of summer.
Besides these two main `crop seasons`, there is one
more season-that of the summer crops. In areas where irrigation
facilities are available, rice maize and groundnut are grown in the
summer season as well.

Our taluk is the big taluk of the district. There is only one police station,
with a minimum staff of 20 police persons. Since it is a big taluk with very
less number of police persons it is quite difficult for the police persons to
keep watch on the taluk. Every day they receive complaints about the thefts.

Not even a single day passes without a theft case. And every week at least
one murder is reported. Also every month one robbery is reported. The
crime rate is high. But the crime rate is lower than that of other districts.
They take all necessary steps to stop thefts, murders and robberies. But
unfortunately they continue. The public are also very cooperative with
police. So, many crimes are detected at the earliest. The co-operation of the
public is essential in crime detection.

The complaints of all cadres of employees of the Government are
before the government. The previous government it is said has made some
commitments. The present government is not in the knowledge of the details
of them. Those are not recorded in the file. Most of them are the assurances
it seems orally made from public platforms. Hence the present government is
making all the possible efforts to talk to all the cadres of employees,
politicians of different political parties and sort out them. The final decision is
to be taken by the Chief Minister after looking into all the factors from various
angles.
The final decision, in all probability may emerge within a
month. If the decision is not taken within a month, pen down strike,
non-cooperation strike from the government employees is
inevitable.

You come here only to ask for loan. All your friends
also come only for loan. You take loan for cultivating the land
but use it for the marriage of your son or daughter or else repay
an old loan from the money lender. You are returning the loan,
but we have quite tough time to recover it from you. You take
loan to cultivate the land, purchase oxen. When we come to
your place for inspection neither we can see your cultivated land

know that it is easy to take loan but very difficult to repay.
