Prezi and Web 2.0 This is a Flash-based application that lets you break away form the slide-by-slide approach of most presentations. Instead it allows you to create non-linear presentations where you can zoom in and out of a visual map containing words, links, images, videos, etc..In addition, this class will show you the best of 2.0 sites that you can get the most out of. No matter the task, video, audio, or photos, we have a site that works great for what you want to do and uses all the great features of Web 2.0 technology. LaMarr Shields Mr. Shields will present a workshop to include the topics "Reaching Disconnected Parents," which provides school districts with tangible strategies to engage parents who are often non responsive and apathetic, "Helpful Tools to Motivate the Unmotivated," which is designed to meet the needs of school that strong with students that are not motivated to learn and that frequently cause disruption in classrooms, and "Engaging Boys of Color," which provides specific tips to address the challenges of encouraging learning in African American males. Mentoring Students in Online Courses: Putting the Pieces Together This course prepares site based educators to support secondary students enrolled in online courses for high school credit. Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention - Annual Refresher SafeSchools Bloodborne Pathogens course introduces the type, statistics and scope of the disease; guidelines for the clean up and handling of potentially infectious wastes or contaminated materials; the risks associated with workers exposed to BBPs (including vaccination and reporting information); and delivers training designed to emphasize the practices of proper exposure control. The course contains specific references to OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.1030 with Internet links to the OSHA and CDC web sites. Screencasting - "A Tech in 20" module This one hour online course will provide you with an overview of Screencasting. Screencasting is a way to record what you are doing on your desktop. It is particularly helpful for making demonstrations and tutorials. Participants can take the course online any time between July 1 and July 31, 2011. The course is self paced. There are activities to complete and web sites to visit. You must complete the survey in Eduphoria to be entered for prizes or for the course to be counted for MSDE credit. To be eligible for MSDE credit, you must take all 15 modules in the "Tech in 20" track. The MSDE credit fee will be paid by the participant. To enter this course you will need to navigate to Calvert County's Moodle Site. The URL is as follows: http://ccpsmoodle.oslms.net You will need to sign in as a guest, using this registration key (it's like a password): summer2011 The courses will remain invisible in Moodle until July 1. After that you are free to complete them on your time schedule, keeping in mind you need to register in Eduphoria for the courses and complete the survey when finished. Click on the Tech in 20 module you wish to view. The module requires Flash Plug In. The module can be completed in about an hour. Bloodborne Pathogens This is a course that is required for all CCPS employees. Please log onto Safe Schools on the Calvertnet website to complete the course. Once you have successfully completed the course, print the certificate and take it to your principal who will then grant you a "Safeschools" credit. Digital Storytelling Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. As with traditional storytelling, most digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. However, as the name implies, digital stories usually contain some mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio narration, video clips and/or music. Using Discovery Education and Thinking Maps to Enhance Thinking Based Learning 5th grade social studies teachers at WHES, MHES, HES, BAES, PPES, SLES, CES and MES will be provided training on how to make Discovery Education videos more interactive. Training will include hyperlinking videos, embedding videos and adding active text boxes. Teachers will also review the new thinking and assessment maps from the William and Mary Program.
