CHAPTERS 19-22 FRANKENSTEIN

SYMBOLS AND REPEATING IDEAS YEA

Love and Affection; Victor has these feelings towards Elizabeth and her
towards him but their relationship is cut off because of Victor’s many
preoccupations. Frankenstein’s monster is also in need and want to appease these
feelings and that is leading him to persistently get Victor to create this companion.
Companionship; Clerval dies and with it Victor Frankenstein loses his best
friend. These are the constant sort of events that befall Victor, as well as the
monster. Both of them have the parallel of wanting friendship and wanting
to be around people, but
most attempts of that are
viewed brutally wrong.
When Victor meets the
people on the river he is
accused of the murder of
his friend, even more
against what he was
trying to do.
I will be with you on
your wedding night
(181, 179, 158) This is the
constant rhetoric from the
monster to Victor and he
keeps continuously thinking
about it. Whenever he wants
to think of the joys that he
will have on his wedding night, he has to stop to think about what the monster is
threatening to do to him.
Freedom, from the monster, from his labour of creation
Demons This
is the way that Victor now refers to the
monster and all of the things associated with him.
