If youre looking for something fun and free for all the family to do during weekends or holidays then come along to the Museum of London. Our two venues are easy to get to the Museum of London is centrally located in the City near to St Pauls, while the Museum of London Docklands is only a short walk from the shops and restaurants of Canary Wharf.

Step inside the Museum of London for an unforgettable journey through the capitals amazing past.
Find out why people from all over the world came to settle in London. Travel back half a million years to a time when lions and hippos roamed Trafalgar Square! Discover characters from Londons past, see treasures from a Roman temple, witness the fear of the Black Death and find out the real stories behind the Great Fire of London. Downstairs in the Galleries of Modern London you can experience life as a debtor in an 18th century prison cell, take a stroll in recreated pleasure gardens or window shop in the Victorian Walk. Wonder at the magnificent Lord Mayors Coach, see inside a 250 year old dolls house or explore the concerns of 21st century Londoners.

MUSEUM OF LONDON DOCKLANDS


West India Quay, Canary Wharf
From Roman settlement to Docklands regeneration, this 200 year old warehouse reveals the long history of London as a port through stories of trade, migration and commerce. Discover a wealth of objects from enormous whale bones to World War II gas masks in our state-of-the-art galleries, which include Mudlarks, an interactive area for children, and Sailortown, an atmospheric recreation of 19th century riverside Wapping. Take cover in a bomb shelter, see what London Bridge was like in medieval times and discover the gruesome fate of captured pirates! And theres no need to cram everything into one visit. Museum of London is easy to get to!


Barbican, St Pauls, Moorgate Liverpool Street, City Thameslink 4, 8, 25, 56, 100, 172, 242, 521 Planned engineering works on the Underground may disrupt your journey so please check www.tfl.gov.uk before you visit. The Museum entrance is located on a pedestrian high walk level. Arriving from St Pauls, Moorgate or Barbican tube station, there is lift access from street level at St Martins Le Grand, Aldersgate Street and London Wall.

Eating and drinking


Theres lots of choice for dining at the Museum. In the entrance hall caf the award-winning benugo offers a menu of delicious hot and cold deli lunches, sandwiches, salads and cakes, plus fairly traded coffees and teas. Downstairs in the Sackler Hall the caf also serves a range of teas, coffees and cakes. A childrens menu and highchairs are available at both cafs. A lunch space is also also open for picnics during weekends and school holidays. London Wall Bar & Kitchen is a great place to unwind with family and friends. Enjoy food from a dining menu of British classics. Food is served from 2-3pm and 5-9.45pm. Open Mon-Fri 11am 11pm. The Museum is fully accessible to buggies and wheelchair users. Lockers can be hired for 1 per use and baby-changing facilities are also available. The Galleries of Modern London include induction loops, Braille panels, touch objects and audio guides for the visually impaired. Please call or visit our website to find out about the facilities that may help you during your visit. Free audio described tours are available for visually impaired visitors and some lectures and walks can be BSL interpreted on request. Take a break with a drink, sandwich, salad or homemade cake in our Museum caf conveniently located on the entrance level. A childrens menu, including kids lunchboxes, and highchairs are also available, as well as a picnic area during weekends and school holidays. Our bar and restaurant Rum & Sugar offers a menu based on fresh seasonal products and is an ideal place to stop before or after your visit to the Museum galleries. Open Tue-Sun, opening hours vary.
