MATI CITY DAVAO ORIENTAL HELD ITS 1st YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT; HUNDREDS OF LEADERS CONGREGATE (The Confession)

Our generation of today is not like before since we have been civilize and modernize. Lucky to think that, our lifestyle nowadays is very comfortable and easy to cope with. Perhaps, it is best to manifest the way of life of our youth. Nonetheless of faster speed up of our modernization, youth can easily sway with the trends. However, there are still vital factors of a youth that was been hidden and still a struggle of our world. As what great philosophers and great men said before which evoke the valuable traits of a youth could lead to a vast scope of success. Therefore, our national hero believed that young individual is the hope of our nation. But how can we do it? Simply, by starting a little dot of action makes a lead to a millions of dots in the world. As what I have stated recently, those little dots were shown by the youth of Mati City, Davao Oriental. We were been thinking that if we make a move to guide the others then let should have it. So, the City of Mati decided to establish an organization that is useful to the existence of the young individuals there and thus proposing YLS or Youth Leadership Summit. The so-called organization is developed through exposing the youth on seminars, trainings, and enhancement programs. Actually, I had experienced so much exposure in leadership program since I was ought to guide my fellow colleagues or youth. Moreover, molding each capacity of my fellow youth and uplifting the confidence of them is a remarkable achievement because it is very hard to convey once perception. Indeed, I was fortunate to be a part in this journey. As Mati City holds an event which is the 1st Youth Leadership Summit with the theme Pagpakabana, Baruganan, Kalinaw, Kahiusa ug Kalambuan sa Kabataan where 26 barangays joined in the said event, to be with different yet amazing youth of Davao Oriental is of great experience since sharing of unique experiences and interest is ostentatious and as we encounter new knowledge and skills. On June 29, 2012 is the first day of our summit. Many of my youth colleagues are excited to join the summit. I saw happy faces and not the sad one. Thus, I am very excited too to be with them for 3 days. However when I first met them, I feel nervous about what shall I do

to get their attention and how to be friends with them immediately. Nonetheless of anxiousness, I truly tried my best to get close with them. Because of being sociable, I have gained new friends and we easily get open to each other. When we have our breakfast, lunch and dinner, we usually talk and share good insights of our lives. A bit of summary, it was a long day for me. I, myself, believed that I became productive and sociable to others. Indeed, it is not hard for us to get along with other people. You have to strive to win a friend. And yes I won a friend! On June 30, 2012 is the second day of our summit. Even if I was sleepy that time, I tried my eyes to wake up. For the reason that there would be another activity to make, I get myself alive for the whole day. We have done so many integrating values and learning. When I listened to the speeches of those armed men, there goes realizations in my mind that warfare between the government and rebellious people is rampant and even the little minds of those innocent people is involve, are ironically pretty pictures of unsought problems happen in our nation. Because of those groups of people who are spreading injustice acts, unavoidable crimes and killings arise. Thus, our lives are at stake. Should we face this ferocious strike hand in hand and halt these unwanted killings of innocents brother. The understanding I apprehended during the said seminar is very mind winding. In a fact that, as a youth of our city and of our nation is a great responsibility that should be performed. Although of our situation here in Mati city indeed is not a hindrance to spread the will of peace and success, therefore all of the youth will make a favorable move against bad circumstances. July 01, 2012 is the final day of our 1st YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT. It is somehow sad to ponder since it is the last day of our meeting. But we build a long period relationship in just a short span of periods. And I am grateful to have them as my company, when we have a seminar and trainings elsewhere. The Guidon-making, Action Planning, Road run at 3 am, Team Building Activities, Reporting, Bonfire, Confessions, The Lecturer and the Facilitators are the reason why it is not easy for us to move-on in the activity. The activity reminded us to be a good leader for the good of our community. And it is true As what Rizal told us, Youth is the hope of our Fatherland. Indeed, a statement full of expectation and enthusiasm yet there is an attachment of responsibility. We, youth,

are born to relive our nation having its land withstanding the essence of patriotism and love. But did our youth of today performing its duty? That they would serve its nation with all their heart? Questions which are unanswerable and left hanging, nowadays. But there are still young individuals who make a simple step to make it happen. As proved by the youth of Mati City, Davao Oriental.
