Over 100 Assistance League volunteers worked on 30 shopping events, with number elementary school children clothed at an average cost of $81.00 per child. We receive many letters from school officials, teachers, parents, and the children themselves telling us how much they appreciate our help and the difference it makes in the childrens self-esteem when they can dress like their peers. When they feel good about themselves, they improve in their schoolwork and in their relationships with the others in their classes. Additionally, school counselors have reported that the program cuts down on inappropriate dress. Assistance League and auxiliary volunteer members spent over 51,000 hours staffing our programs, operating the thrift shop, managing the chapters activities, and fundraising. In addition to the Operation School Bell program, other programs include Assault Survivor Kits, Senior Sampler, Senior Food Pantry, Links to Learning, the Kids on the BlockTM and Community Outreach.
