~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 1 - INTRODUCTION ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ What the Game is About +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland for Playstation 2 is quite simply a game about farming. You are given a bare farm, and told to plant crops and get animals so that you can start a successful farm. Like any farm, there are chores to do, like watering the crops, feeding and brushing and milking the cows and other animals, cutting fodder, harvesting your grown vegetables and so on. Trust me, it is not as easy as it sounds! There are also town folk to socialize with and a kind, caring Harvest Goddess to help you out when you are in a rut. Harvest Moon is the ultimate farming simulation experience! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+++ Objective of the Game +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Along with facing the challenge of running a successful farm, there is a dilemma you need to solve for the town as well. The town is going to be torn down in order to build a resort. It is your job to try and stop this. You have exactly one year to complete this task. Pretty daunting, eh? There are nine different ways you can save the town, depending on who you make friends with in the town. Good luck! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 2 - CHARACTERS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ In this game, you must make friends with your neighbours in order to save the town. Ending - The Endangered Weasel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Harvest Goddess +++
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Description - The Harvest Goddess lives at the Harvest Goddess Lake (how original, eh?). If you throw an offering into the little pond that has a small river leading to the rest of the lake, she will appear and either grant you a wish, give you advice, scold you for bothering her late at night, early in the morning, or on a rainy day, or just say thank you and disappear again. Birthday - Since she is an immortal Goddess, she does not have a birthday. Likes - She likes vegetables, flowers and berries, but vegetables are her favourite. Ending - None, but you should befriend her anyway, because she gives advice and grants wishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 3 - YOUR FARM ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Tools +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ During the game, you need tools to work on your farm. You start off with a watering can, a hoe, and an ordinary sickle. Watering Can - Used for watering your crops and can be refilled at the well near the chicken coop. Hoe - Used to break up the soil in your fields for planting. Sickle - Used for cutting grass in your field into fodder (3 grass cuts makes 1 piece of fodder) or cutting down dead crops. Brush - Once you get a horse and cows, you will need a brush. You have to buy this from Louis at the Tool Shop. The brush is 300G. Milker - Once you get cows, you will need a milker. You have to buy this from Louis at the Tool Shop. The milker is 1800G. Super Sickle - You can also buy this from Louis. Instead of cutting just one square of grass, like the ordinary one, it cuts three. Flute - This is also a good tool. You need to befriend Louis to get it. You can use it to train your dog to sit, heel, lay down, jump, sit up, and herd cattle. (He needs to like you enough first, though). Fishing Rod - This is useful, too. Befriend Joe to get it, practice fishing, and eventually you will catch fish to cook and give to people. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Your House +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your house has a lot of useful things in it. When you first start out, your house is one room. It has a bed in the corner with a nightstand beside it, a small television, a bookshelf, and a calendar on the wall. Bed - This is obviously used for sleeping. Television - You have to be sure to watch the news on your television every day to find out what the weather will be like

tomorrow (if there is a chance of rain over 50%, bring all your animals inside). Nightstand - This has a little book where you can look at the status of your farm or save your game. Bookshelf - This contains notes written by your grandfather about taking care of crops and animals. Calendar - This shows you the when the dry season (red), mild season (yellow), and rainy season (blue) are. Kitchen - If you manage to earn 100 000G, you can buy a kitchen from the Carpenter Shop. It will be ready the day after you buy it and contains a pot, an oven, a frying pan, a fridge, along with a small table, and a door leading to the toilet, and another leading to the bathtub. You can cook meals in your kitchen and store food in your fridge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ What Things Are For +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Apart from your house, your farm contains many other useful things. Doggie Dish - This is located outside your house it is where you feed your dog. Chicken Coop - This is where you keep your chickens, and it contains six feed boxes and a water trough. (If you have less than six chickens, only fill the box with their name on it. Walk up to a box and press X to see which chicken that box belongs to). Barn - This is where you keep your horse and cows. It contains one horse stall, and five cow stalls, along with a fodder dispenser on the wall, attached to the silo. Same as with the chickens, each animal has its own stall and feed box. Walk up to a feed box and press X to see which animal that box belongs to. Silo - This is attached to the barn and it is where all your fodder to feed your horse and cows is kept. NOTE: If you buy fodder from Bob, it will not get put into the silo. It will remain in your inventory. The only way you can get fodder in the silo is if you cut the grass in your pasture yourself. It will do this automatically. Pasture - This is where you keep your horse and cows when they are outside. It is also where you cut grass to make fodder. It is green during summer and spring, but turns yellow during fall and winter. Well - This is located by the chicken coop and is used for refilling your watering can when it becomes empty. Fields - Your farm has eight fields for planting crops. (Do not use up all the fields, it is just wasted time and effort). I would suggest using up only four of the fields. One for corn, one for tomatoes, one for potatoes, and one for breadfruit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 4 - ANIMALS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Horse +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You get the horse after working for Bob for a while. Once you have your horse,

you have to gain his trust. At first, he won?t let you ride him, but just make sure to brush him and talk to him everyday, and ALWAYS remember to check the weather so you can bring him into the barn before it rains. NEVER forget to feed him when he is in the barn. On sunny days, when he is out in the pasture, you do not have to fill his feed box in the barn. He will just eat the grass in the pasture, and get full that way. If you take good care of him, and are kind to him, after a few days or more, you will be able to get on his back and ride him. He will only trot at first, but if you keep riding him and taking care of him, he will eventually start to canter, and then gallop. NOTE: Do not ever hit your horse with your hoe or sickle, as this frightens him and makes him angry, and could eventually kill him if you do it enough times. ANIMAL CRUELTY IS BAD!!!!! Also, getting the horse is absolutely crucial if you want to get The Horse Race ending. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Dog +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you first start the game, there is a doggie dish outside your house, and two stray dogs wandering around your farm. You will not be able to pick them up at first, because they will run away, but if you keep putting food in the dish, eventually, you will be able to pick one up, name it and have it become your dog. You can put anything you find that is edible in the dish. You have to make sure you do this everyday, though, or the stray will not become your dog. Just wait for the dog you want to come by your farm, and try picking it up. Eventually, you will be able to. Just like the horse, you have to build up trust with your dog. You need to feed him and train him everyday, and if you have not bought a dog house for him yet, you need to bring him inside your house when it rains. NOTE: If it rains for more than a day, and you have him in your house, he will get sick, because there is no food to eat. You should really get a dog house. Again, do not hit him with the hoe or sickle, because this frightens him, makes him angry, and could possibly kill him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Chickens +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chickens are great to have in the game, because they are easy to take care of and provide you with eggs to sell and give to people. The problem is, they are VERY sensitive to the rain. It is crucial to check the weather everyday so you can get them in the chicken coop before it rains. When they are inside, you need to feed them. Chicken feed is cheap, so do not worry. They produce eggs that you can sell at Clove Villa. As long as you keep them out of the rain, and feed them when they are inside, and collect their eggs everyday, you will have happy, healthy chickens. During the dry season, if you take good care of your chickens, they will sometimes produce Golden Eggs. These cannot be sold, but you can use them for cooking or give them to people. NOTE: Do not hit your chickens with the hoe or sickle, either. They will get frightened and angry, and can be killed very easily, much more easily than your horse, dog, or cows. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Cows +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cows are an amazing profit in the game. Their milk will make you rich! To get your first cow, go to The Farmer Shop and buy one from Bob. She will be waiting for you in the barn the morning after you buy her. She is too young to produce milk, but if you take good care of her, she will grow up healthy and start to produce milk for you. Make sure you brush her and talk to her everyday, and keep her out of the rain. Feed her when she is inside the barn, too. When she produces milk, you will get Small Milk. You have to keep taking good care of her to move up to Medium Milk, and then Large Milk. If your cow is well taken care of, during the dry season, she will sometimes produce Golden Milk. This can be sold, cooked or given away. She will not produce Golden Milk if she has not produced Large Milk yet. You can have a total of five cows in the game. If you get more than one cow, make sure your dog knows how to herd cattle. It is a faster way to get them in the barn when it is going to rain. Do this early, so

you do not wake up any of your animals when they are sleeping, as this makes them angry. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 5 - CROPS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ How to Take Care of Your Crops +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you start the game, you have 2 sets of potato seeds. Go buy as many more potato seeds from The Flower Shop as you can. Go home and till the soil with your hoe and plant all your potato seeds. Potato seeds are a good starter crop because they grow fast. However, once you become a successful farmer with lots of gold, it is best to buy 99 potato seeds and eight each of tomatoes, corn and breadfruit. In the field closest to your house, plant the potato seeds (only enough to fill that one field. You will need the rest later), then plant your tomato seeds in the field next to that one. Behind the potatoes, plant your breadfruit seeds, and in the field behind the tomatoes, plant your corn seeds. Fill up your watering can, and water all the seeds you planted. Keep watering them everyday (except on rainy days) until they are ready for harvest. Harvest them, then sell them, store them in your fridge if you have a kitchen, or give them to people. Keep this up until Fall 30th, then cut them all down with your sickle. (Growing crops in the winter is just dumb). During the rainy season, if it rains really hard, some of your crops will be washed away. As soon as the rainy season ends, go buy more of those seeds and replant the crop. YOU MUST WATER THEM EVERYDAY EXCEPT RAINY DAYS OR THEY WILL DIE!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Corn +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Corn is a very profitable crop. Even though it is more expensive and takes the longest to grow, it is worth the most G. When you plant corn seeds, they will not even sprout until a few days after you plant them, and will not yield a harvest until approximately a week after they sprout. Once they yield a harvest, however, you will be glad you invested the extra time and money. Just like milk, corn will make you rich very quickly. Remember to water them EVERY SINGLE DAY except on rainy days, or they will wither and die. Corn is a very hardy crop, and will give you several harvests before withering on its own. Overall, a great investment! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Potatoes +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unlike corn, potatoes only yield one harvest before withering. However, they are the least expensive seed, and the harvested potatoes are great for cooking in your kitchen. It is useful to buy these and plant them. They also grow very quickly, and sprout the day after you plant them. They yield a harvest approximately 2-3 days after they sprout, so as long as you keep planting them, they are a constant, quick source of income. They get washed away easily during the rainy season, though, so make sure you always have plenty of extra potato seeds on hand. Remember to water them EVERY SINGLE DAY except on rainy days or they will wither and die. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Tomatoes +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tomatoes are great to have on your farm. They are fairly profitable, do not take as long as corn to grow, and yield several harvests before withering and

dying on their own. They are also not too expensive. They can be sold, given away, stored in your fridge if you have a kitchen, or cooked. Remember to water them EVERY SINGLE DAY except rainy days or they will die. They do not wash away as easily as potatoes during the rainy season, but you should still be prepared to lose a few anyway. Just wait until the rainy season is over and plant some more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Breadfruit +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just like corn, breadfruit will have you raking in the dough in no time. They are a bit expensive to buy, and take about the same time as tomatoes to grow. They will yield several harvests before withering, and are worth a fortune. They are also a necessity if you want to cook anything good in your kitchen. ALWAYS have one field of breadfruit on your farm. They do not wash away in the rainy season very easily, so you won?t have to replant them too much. Remember to water them EVERY SINGLE DAY except rainy days or they will die. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 6 - DAILY ROUTINE ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ Daily Routine is crucial to farming success. If you do not budget your day properly, or have any sort of structure or plan, you can kiss your successful farm goodbye, my friend. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ In the Morning +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Always take care of your crops and animals as soon as you wake up. First feed your dog, then take care of your chickens. If they are inside and it is raining, fill up their feed boxes and collect their eggs, then leave. If they are inside and it is not raining, take each chicken outside, and then go back into the chicken coop and collect the eggs. If they are outside and it is not raining, just collect their eggs and leave them alone. If they are outside and it is raining, get them in the chicken coop immediately! Did you check the weather last night? After, feed them and leave. Next take care of your horse and cows. If they are in the barn and it is raining, brush your horse and cows, then milk the cows, then fill up their feed boxes with fodder and leave. If they are in the barn and it is not raining, brush the horse and cows, then milk the cows and push them outside. If they are outside and it is not raining, brush the horse and cows, then milk the cows, and leave them alone. If they are outside and it is raining, same as with the chickens. Get them inside quickly, feed, milk and brush them, and BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME! After you finish taking care of the animals, water the crops and pick any vegetables that need harvesting. This is pretty much your entire morning routine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ In the Afternoon +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now it is time to mingle in town. If you are working on getting a particular ending, follow the instructions I have written in that section to complete it. Then sell anything you want to sell and buy anything you need to buy. If you have time, you should visit the Goddess (she does not like being summoned in the morning, evening, or on rainy days). It is also a good idea to talk to the Harvest Sprites, as they can give you clues on how to complete the ending you are working on. That is basically your afternoon routine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

+++ In the Evening +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now it is time to head home and do the end-of-the-day chores on your farm. First, check the weather. If there is a 50% chance or more of rain, bring all your animals inside. If you don?t have a dog house for your dog yet, bring him in your house, and if your dog does not know how to herd cattle, you have to make sure you push all your cows into the barn yourself before they fall asleep. (This is extremely hard to do. Do not get more than one or two cows if your dog does not know how to herd cattle). Once all your animals are inside (or if it is not going to rain and you leave them outside), you can choose to go to bed, or go to the bar for some good food and wine and chit-chat with the town-folk. If none of these appeal to you, you can also go into your kitchen, if you have one and do some late night cooking before you retire for the day. NOTE: If you stay outside too late, you will collapse. That concludes your evening routine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 7 - SHOPS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Supermarket +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ronald owns the supermarket. It is the closest shop to your farm. It is open from 8:00am to 6:00pm, and is closed on Sundays. Ronald will buy: Potatoes - 60G Tomatoes - 80G Corn - 120G Breadfruit - 100G Very berries - 10G Cranberries - 20G Blueberries - 30G Cheese - 500G Yoghurt - 350G ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Tool Shop +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Louis owns the tool shop. Potatoes - 60G Tomatoes - 80G Corn - 120G Moondrop flowers - 10G Pink cat-mint flowers - 20G Herbs - 10G Limestone - 100G ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Farmer Shop +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bob is the owner of The Farmer Shop. It is located in the Brownie Farm area by the house he lives in with his brother, Tim. It is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm, and is closed on Thursdays. Bob will buy: Cows - 2500G Chickens - 150G (Do not sell any to him, though. It is just lost profit, because you will not have a steady stream of income from milk and eggs anymore). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Clove Villa +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Technically, Dia is the owner of Clove Villa, but Martha is in charge of the shop. The shop is in the kitchen and they do not sell anything to you, they only buy things from you. It is located near the Brownie Farm, through the Western-looking doors. They are open from 8:00am to 6:00pm, and are closed on Sundays. Martha will buy: Potatoes - 60G Tomatoes - 80G Corn - 120G Breadfruit - 100G Eggs - 50G Small milk - 150G Medium milk - 200G Large milk - 300G Gold milk - 400G Herbs - 10G Cheese - 500G Yoghurt - 350G ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Carpenter Shop +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Woody owns the Carpenter Shop, but his granddaughter Gwen looks after it during the day. It is located in the forest. It is open early and closes at 6:00pm. It is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Woody sells: Kitchens - 100 000G Dog houses - 5000G Woody will buy: Blue rocks - 90G Rare metal - 180G Copper ores - 40G Iron ores - 60G Limestone - 100G ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Caf and Bar +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wallace owns the caf and bar. It is located in the forest beside the lake. The caf is open from noon to 5:00pm, and the bar is open from 6:00pm to midnight. It is closed on Mondays. The caf buys: Herbs - 10G Breadfruit - 100G Eggs - 50G Small milk - 150G Medium milk - 200G Large milk - 300G Gold milk - 400G Cheese - 500G Yoghurt - 350G Very berries - 10G Cranberries - 20G Blueberries - 30G Very berry jam - 80G Cranberry jam - 100G Blueberry jam - 150G Mixed berry jam - 80G The bar buys: Very berries - 10G Cranberries - 20G Blueberries - 30G Walnuts - 20G Mushrooms - 10G Cheese - 500G Potatoes - 60G Tomatoes - 80G Corn - 120G Medium fish - 80G Large fish - 120G ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 8 - MONEY +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Crops +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Crops are a great way to earn quick cash in this game. Breadfruit can be sold for 100G, corn can be sold for 120G, tomatoes can be sold for 80G, and potatoes can be sold for 60G. If you have one field of each, you will be pretty well-off in making those big bucks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Animal Products +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think it is safe to say that your animals are your largest source of income. If you have six healthy, grown chickens, you will get six eggs a day. You can sell eggs for 50G each. That is 300G a day! Your cows are also an amazing profit. You can sell their milk for big bucks! Small milk goes for 150G, medium for 200G, large for 300G, and golden milk for 400G. If you have cows and chickens, you are one rich farmer! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Part-time Work +++

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another way to make a lot of money is by going to Bob for part-time work. Just go to his shop, stand in front of the cash register, and press X. He will ask you what you want, and you can choose between either part-time work or nothing. Choose part-time work. He will ask you to go and take care of his animals for him, then he will ask you if you want him to explain. Choose no, because I am going to explain it to you here. You will find yourself on the farm. Go up to the animals (do the horses first). Press L2, then select the brush. Press square to brush the horses, then stand in front of them and press X to talk to them. Then go up to the cow and press square to brush her. Then press L2 and select the milker. Press square to milk her. She will give you small milk. Press L1 to pocket it. Then stand in front of her and press X to talk to her. Even though the animals are now taken care of, your work is not over. Now you have to go into the barn and fill up their feed boxes. Go to the fodder dispenser on the wall and grab a square of fodder. Put it in the feed box for the cow (the one standing away from the others). Then do the same and fill up all the horse feed boxes . Now you are finished your work. Leave the farm. When you exit, Bob will ask you if you are finished your work. Choose yes, and he will give you your money for the day, the amount depends on how long you worked. It ranges anywhere between 200-570G. He also allows you to keep the milk you got from the cow. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Chpt: 9- Endings ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Horse Race *** +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To get the horse race ending, you need to befriend Bob and Gwen. You also need a horse (duh!). Start off by going to work for Bob. You must do this every single day for a season or more (except Thursdays and rainy days) in order to get the horse. You should also give Bob berries or homemade cakes. After what seems like an eternity of working on his farm, he will bring you a horse and ask you if you would like to train him. Say yes, and he will let you name him and tell you how to take care of him. As soon as you get the horse, start giving Gwen gifts to make her like you. She does not like flowers or other girly things, but she loves Golden Milk and other foods grown on your farm. While you are getting on her good side, you also have to make sure you treat your horse like royalty. At first, he will rear up every time you try to ride him, but if you keep him out of the rain, and brush him and talk to him every day, he will eventually let you get on his back. After you are able to do this, Bob will come to your farm and tell you what a good job you are doing with the horse. Gwen will then appear and act very rude towards you. They will then reveal that there is going to be a horse race at the end of the year and if a horse from the village wins that race, the town might be saved. Gwen wants her horse to win the town back. Keep taking care of your horse and ride him everywhere, and eventually, he will be able to run. A similar cut scene involving Bob and Gwen will appear once this happens. Keep taking care of the horse and riding him and keep giving Bob and Gwen gifts. Sometime later, you will overhear Bob and Gwen talking about you. Gwen tells Bob she doesn?t want you to be in the race. Bob tells her she is being ridiculous. Then Bob accuses Gwen of having a crush on you, and hints that
he has a crush on her as well. Gwen blushes, calls him a jerk and runs off. Once you have your horse running at top speed, Bob will come to your farm and challenge you to a race. He is fairly easy to beat. Once you but Gwen the race the farm beat him, he will tell you that he?s going to enter you in the race, appears with her horse and challenges you. She will not let you enter unless you beat her. BEWARE: She is tough to beat! Keep racing her at until you win.
Once you finally beat her, you will be entered into the horse race, and if you win that race, you and your horse will become famous and your village will stay standing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Cake Ending +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The cake ending is a rather cute ending. It involves Katie and her grandfather, Wallace. Start off by befriending Katie and Dia. (Her role in this will be revealed later). Visit Dia at Clove Villa everyday and give her blueberries. Eventually, she will start to love them and warm up to you. Visit Katie at the caf everyday and give her gifts. She likes flowers and other girly things, but her absolute favourite is cheese. If you keep giving her gifts, she will eventually tell you about a cake contest in the city that she is planning on entering. She will also tell you that she wants to recreate the cake recipe your grandmother had, because it was the best-tasting cake in the world. You will tell her that you never knew about it, and she will ask you to keep an eye out for it around your farm. After this, go home and look near your dresser, and you will find the recipe Katie was talking about. The next day, take the recipe to the caf to give to Katie. She will be overjoyed. She will read the recipe and become discouraged, because she has never heard of three of the ingredients: Golden milk, golden eggs, and moondrop dew. Later, she will ask you to get chickens and cows and raise them to produce good quality milk and eggs. If you do not already have them, get them. You will need to treat your animals well to get them to produce the Golden milk and eggs. In the meantime, keep visiting the caf, and Katie will keep getting you to taste samples of cakes she has baked. They will all be disgusting, and Katie will get discouraged, but both you and Wallace will always make her feel better. Once you have the golden milk and eggs, give them to her when you see her. NOTE: If you give her more than one thing a day, she will not appreciate it. When she has the golden milk and egg, she will bake another cake for you to taste. This one will be better than the rest, but still not perfect. Katie will again get discouraged. After you cheer her up, go to Clove Villa. You should have Dia as a friend by now. She will give you a spell book telling you how to make moon drop dew. Take the book to Katie. She will give you a certain time and day to meet her at the Harvest Goddess Lake. Make sure to be there on time. After you have the dew, go back home to bed. The next day, Katie will give you her final cake draft. You will give her the thumbs up, and she will send it in to the contest. About a week will pass, then you will find out that her cake won the contest and because of it, the plans for bulldozing the town have been cancelled, therefore you have saved the homeland! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Azure Swallowtail +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This ending involves Lyla, Louis, Parsley and Kurt, though mostly just Lyla and Parsley. Start off by visiting Lyla at her flower shop everyday and giving her gifts. She especially loves pink cat-mint flowers! Make sure to locate Parsley and give him gifts everyday, too. He likes medicinal herbs. Also, Kurt likes tomatoes and Louis likes eggs. Keep giving gifts to Lyla and Kurt and they will eventually tell you about a beautiful, rare butterfly called the Azure Swallowtail. You should already have Parsley as your friend, but if you do not, go befriend him. A few days after you do this, Lyla and Parsley will visit you on your farm and tell you about the Blue Mist Flower Seed. By now, you should be able to put two and two together to figure out that if you plant the seed, the flower will attract the Azure Swallowtail. You should also be friends with Louis by now, too, so go to his tool shop and he will tell he is inventing so that he can take a picture of the will go away for a while to find the Blue Mist Seed, speaking with Louis, he will show up at your farm to you all about this camera Azure Swallowtail. Parsley and a few days after give you the seed.
Once you have the seed, go to the Harvest Goddess Lake and plant the seed in the small dirt patch across the log bridge over the river (remember to till the soil with your hoe first). YOU MUST RETURN EVERY DAY TO WATER THE SEED!!!!! After you have been watering it for a while, a flower will bloom, and the Azure Swallowtail butterfly will make its grand appearance. Louis will snap a picture of it, and send it in to a wildlife magazine (or something like that). Keep visiting and watering the flower and sooner or later, Lyla, Louis and Parsley will show up at your farm and SURPRISE! The magazine people were so in awe of the rare butterfly that they decided to declare it as a protected area. Congratulations, you have saved the homeland! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Goddess Dress +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The key to this ending is Gina, but you will also need to befriend Katie. Also, being nice to Martha and Dia helps, too. Start off by visiting Gina at Clove Villa everyday and giving her gifts. She likes eggs and fish, but flowers make her blush. After you have been wooing her everyday for a while, she will come to your farm and tentatively tell you about a new Goddess dress she is making for a parade in the city (Gina is very shy). After she tells you this, go visit the Harvest Goddess Lake and talk to the Goddess. Then go to the caf and start befriending Katie (she loves cheese and flowers). After you are friends with her, she will arrive at your farm and make a drawing of the dress. You will critique her work and she will become puzzled, because she does not know how to create what you are trying to describe to her. After this, go to the Harvest Goddess Lake again, and the Goddess will tell you about a special silk thread. This thread can be bought at the tool shop for 3000G. Once you have the thread, go back to the Goddess to show her and she will promise to make a special rainbow cloth from it and weave moonlight into it to make it just like her own dress. After she does this, bring the cloth to Gina. She will be delighted and start making the dress right away. When the dress is finished, Dia will try it on and model it for you. You will give the thumbs up, and Gina will send it to the city to be chosen for the new design in the parade. About a week will pass, then the girls will show up at your farm to tell you that not only did they choose the design for the parade, but they were so in awe by its beauty that they decided to stop the construction plans for the town in order for Gina to make more dresses. YAY! You saved the homeland!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Endangered Weasel +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You need to befriend Gwen and the Harvest Sprites to get this ending. Start off by giving gifts to Gwen. Remember, she is a tomboy and does not like flowers or other girly things, but she likes any kind of food and LOVES Golden Milk. At the same time, talk to and give gifts to the Harvest Sprites. They love mushrooms and other stuff you find in the forest. After the Harvest Sprites like you, they will come to your house and tell you about this big, scary monster that wants to eat them. They will take you to the Harvest Goddess Lake to catch the culprit, only to find out that it is just a harmless weasel. Gwen will show up and scold you for trying to catch him. She will also reveal that he belongs to her and that he is an endangered species. The Goddess will appear and ask you to get her permission to photograph the weasel. Her theory is that if you have proof that the town is home to an endangered species, the town will not be bulldozed. At first, Gwen will refuse, saying that she doesn?t want to exploit him, but her love for the town will eventually win over, and she will invite you to The Harvest Goddess Lake to take a picture of the weasel. At first, the weasel will not show up, but if you go back about a week later, you will be able to snap a picture of him. Gwen will grudgingly send it in to a magazine. Soon after, Gwen will tell you that the plans for destroying the town have been cancelled and it has now been declared as a wildlife reserve. The homeland has been saved! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Treasure Hunt 1 +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The treasure hunt endings are linked together, meaning that you have to complete the first one in order to achieve the second one. The key to this ending is Tim, but Dia will play a part in the second ending, so go befriend her, too. Go visit Tim outside the Supermarket during the day or at his house late at night. Give him eggs, because those are his favourite. Golden Eggs are even better! After a short time of befriending Tim, he will come to your house one morning and tell you about a treasure map he found. He will ask you if you would like to go treasure hunting with him. Tell him yes, and you guys will go to find the treasure. Once you find it, you will discover that it is just a bunch of junk. Bob, who is the older brother of Tim will then come over and tell Tim that all of that junk were his old toys and art projects from when he was little. He buried them because he did not want to throw them out, but he must have forgotten about them over the years. Tim will be disappointed that his treasure was just old toys from his brother. That is the end of the first treasure hunt ending, but you have not saved the homeland yet! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Treasure Hunt 2 *** +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For this ending, which is the sequel to the first treasure hunt ending, you need to continue to give Tim eggs. After a short while, he will show up at your farm again to tell you about another treasure map he found and that this one is real. He will give you a copy of the map and tell you to look for the treasure too. The map gives you a clue as to the location of the treasure, but neither you or Tim understands it. After this, go to Clove Villa. If you are good friends with Dia, she will be very interested and tell you she will help as much

as she can. If not, she will tell you she will look into it if she feels like it and scold you for bothering her. You should already be friends with her from the first ending, but if you are not, give her blueberries until she likes you. She will eventually give you a bag of seeds to plant. Take these seeds and plant them next to the Flower Shop. Water them every day until the ending. NOTE: There is another way to achieve this ending, but it is more difficult. Here is how to get this ending the alternate way: After Tim gives you the map, instead of being friends with Dia, become good friends with your dog. Hug him and play with him every day until he adores you. Then take him to Clove Villa when Tim is there (from 11:00am to 2:00pm). If your dog loves you enough he will find a path to the Sacred Land. You will find the bag of seeds there. Take the seeds to the Flower Shop and plant them. Water them every day to get the ending. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ The Bluebird *** +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The key to this ending is Louis. If you have not already gotten the flute from him, visit him near the lake by the caf. Give him lots of eggs. Once he likes you enough, he will give you the flute. This flute serves two purposes. You can use it to train your dog, but it is also the key to getting this ending. Keep visiting Louis at the lake and giving him eggs. This will eventually lead to a cut scene where you feed some birds with Louis. He will tell you about a rare bluebird. Your job is to attract this bluebird to the village to save the homeland. Keep giving eggs to Louis and he will play a flute solo for you and Lyla. After this, he will show up at your farm to ask you if you would like to play the flute with him. Agree, and the flute duet will attract the endangered bluebird to save the village. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ A Fishy Story *** +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To get this ending, you will need to befriend Joe, Kurt and Woody. Give Joe gifts until he gives you a fishing rod. He can normally be found at the lake in the early evening hours. Give Kurt tomatoes, he will be important later, and give Woody ores. Once you have the fishing rod, practice catching fish at the lake. Once you have given Joe a few fish (not small fish, he does not like those), he will tell you about a very rare, mythical fish he saw a long time ago. Keep giving gifts to Joe, Woody and Kurt and eventually a new fishing rod will be for sale at the Tool Shop. Buy the new rod and fish with it. Once you have caught some fish with the new rod, you will discover that there is another rare fish that can be seen at the lake late at night. After you see the fish, if you are friends with Kurt, he will upgrade your fishing rod. If you follow his advice, he will make you the rod of silver fish. Go fishing at the lake with Joe and the Harvest Sprites will tell you the days to catch the mythical fish. Go to the lake on these days and try to catch it. Once you catch the mythical fish, a week will pass and you will save the homeland! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ CHAPTER 10 - HINTS AND TIPS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Cheap Chickens +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Okay. I know a lot of other walkthroughs tell you to buy a chicken from Bob and put its eggs in the incubator to save money, but I have got an even better way! Instead of buying a chicken from Bob, go to the Supermarket and buy an egg for only 50G. Take it home and put it in the incubator until it hatches. Raise the chick until it becomes an adult, then put its eggs in the incubator. You will save even more money by buying your first chicken as an egg. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Cheap Cows +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Buy your first cow from Bob, then once she starts producing Milk L, buy a Cow Miracle Potion and get her pregnant. She will be pregnant for about 10 days. The same day the baby is born, get her pregnant again. Keep doing this until you have five cows in your barn (provided your dog knows how to herd cattle). You will lose profit off the one cow you continuously breed, but the milk from the other cows will soon make up for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Get the Horse +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I have said before, you need to work for Bob to get the horse. Start off by going to his farm everyday to work. Do everything he asks you to, making sure to keep going back every single day (except Thursdays and rainy days). After it seems like you have been working forever, Bob will come to your farm and present you with your very own horse. NOTE: To choose the horse you get, make sure to brush and talk to that particular horse first everyday, and Bob will give you that horse. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Get the Dog +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you first start out on your farm, you will have a doggie dish sitting outside your house. Keep putting food in it everyday (grass and other things from the forest). Eventually, you will see two stray dogs wandering around your farm. At first, when you try to pick them up, they will run away from you, but keep feeding them and you will be able to pick one of them up and keep them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Train the Dog +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In order to train your dog, you need to befriend Louis to get the flute. These are the different commands you can train him to do. Sit: UP, LEFT, DOWN. Lay Down: UP, DOWN, DOWN. Heel (useful when you want him to follow you around the town): LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT. Herd Cattle: RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT. Jump: LEFT, UP, RIGHT. Sit up: DOWN, UP, UP. He will eventually start to love you more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Free Fodder From Bob +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Although you can buy fodder from Bob at a very reasonable price, there is a way to get free fodder from him as well. When you go to work for him on his
farm, you have to fill the feed boxes in the barn. Do this like normal, then go back to the fodder dispenser. There will always be two extra squares of fodder. Take those and pocket them. Some might call it stealing, but I call it running a successful farm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Power Berry Locations +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland, there are five power berries to collect. These berries increase your overall stamina throughout the day. Personally, I have only found the one in my pasture and another one in the lake. The others are purely just from other walkthroughs for the game that I have read. You can find these five berries in your pasture, when you visit the Harvest Goddess, when you visit the Harvest Sprites, when you fish in the lake, and when you trigger the Sacred Land event (whatever that is)! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Recipes *** +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unless you want disgusting food that only your dog would be happy eating, it is probably a good idea to know what you are cooking in your kitchen. Here is a list of recipes that you can make in this game. Frying Pan Simple Omelette = milk + egg Sunny Side Up = golden egg Fruit Omelette = egg + egg + very berry/blueberry Vegetable Omelette = egg + egg + any kind of vegetable Cheese Omelette = egg + egg + cheese Mixed Omelette = egg + mushroom Pancakes = breadfruit + egg + milk Cooked Fish = small fish Special Fish = large fish + milk + herb Oven Flan = egg + milk Fruit Flan = egg + milk + very berry/blueberry Cake = small milk + breadfruit Fruit Cake = milk + breadfruit + very berry/blueberry Cheese Cake = golden egg + golden milk + breadfruit Honey Cake = breadfruit + honey + egg Pot Hot Milk = small milk Yoghurt = medium milk Cheese = large milk Special Cheese = golden milk Cream of Tomato Soup = tomato + milk Cream of Mushroom Soup = mushroom + milk Creamy Soup = potato + milk Corn Soup = corn + milk Bouillabaisse = fish + milk Cranberry Jam = cranberry + cranberry + cranberry Blueberry Jam = blueberry + blueberry + blueberry Very Berry Jam = very berry + very berry + very berry Mixed Berry Jam = any combination of different berries ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +++ Biggest Rumour Put To Rest +++ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alright, most of us know that in previous Harvest Moon games, it was possible
to get married and have children, and many people are under the impression that this is also true for Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland for the Playstation 2 console. It is not. I am afraid I have to squash the biggest rumour surrounding this game. There is no possible way to get married in this game. All you are able to do is make girls fall in love with you so you can save the homeland. If you want a game where you can get married and raise a child, I recommend Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition for the Playstation 2 console, Harvest Moon DS, or Harvest Moon DS Cute. I'll mainly focus on the Harvest Moon games and guides, but I'll still do the games that I had promised to make guides for. So I am closing down the EquinoxCreations@adres.nl acccount, so you can no longer email me stuff there. Just email me at Duenos14@aol.com. Section 2 (Game Intro): 2.1 (Game Info) Name: Harvest Moon: Save The Homeland US Release Date: Makers: Natsume Inc. (Natsume.com), Victor Interactive Software My Rating: **--- 2 Stars Out Of A Possible 5. This is compared to the other Harvest Moon games. It has no relation what so ever to the "Full Review" section below. Why The Rating: In my opinion, this is one of the worst Harvest moons ever. It really looks like Natsume and Victor didn't take the time to make a great game like they normally do! I was warned not to buy this game, but it was only 20 bucks so I thought I'd try it out, write the guide, and sell it on ebay for 15 bucks. So I basically bought it for 5 bucks. I just don't see the greatness that all of the other HM's have. The game just overall sucks. The Ups: This is the most realistic Harvest moon ever. The things you find in the mountain require time to regrow! Also, everyone actually cares that their town might be destroyed (unlike the other HM's!). The Downs: You have no Axe or Hammer! Cool Stuff This Game has: You can actually see what condition your character is in at all times. There is ton of extra room in your rucksack. 2.1.2 (Full Review) These ratings are on a different scale than the one in the "Game Info" section. GraphicsRating: ****- (4 stars out of a possible 5) Explanation: Although most of it is cell shading (which I hate!), the grapghics are good. What I don't like is that the scenery and the characters are animated differently. The characters are in cell shading and the scenery isn't. This makes the game look really weird. But, the scenery and the characters graphics (looked at seperately) are really good. If the characters were animated like the scenery was, the graphics would be perfect. StoryRating: ***** (5 stars out of a possible 5) Explanation: Unlike most of the HM's, the story is real! In the other ones, your told that you must save the town by simply farming for three years. but in this one, you actually must find a way to save it. Farming alone is no match for the people that want to make a theme park. There is the slight problem of only having a year to do so, but no biggy. More of a challenge. ControlsRating: ****- (4 stars out of a possible 5) Explanation: The controls are pretty good in this game. They aren't the best, but they are close to being the best. I don't like how long it takes to put stuff in your bag. DifficultyRating: ***-- (3 stars out of a possible 5) Explanation: Like all the HM's, It's easy. But compared to the other HM's,
It's really easy. Like I said earlier in the guide, this is the laziest HM I've ever played. Of course I havn't played the one for GC or any of the older PS ones, but I've played and beaten all the other ones. I'd give this game a 1 star in difficulty, but since there are a few I have yet to play, I am forced to give it a 3 star. Another reason is because certain aspects (yes... I know big words) of the game are a challenge. For example, the one year thing. The game is pretty much as easy as it is hard. But a tiny bit easier. World SizeRating: ****- (4 stars out of a possible 5) Explanation: This is actually a pretty large world. There are bigger ones (that's why it's only 4 stars). With about 10 "squares" of ground in which to visit, this game is fun to explore. Number of CharactersRating: *---- (1 start out of a possible 5) Explanation: Blah. This game sucks when it comes to characters. There are barely any! And most of them aren't even worth knowing. I do like that most of characters do play an extremely important part in the game. That's the only reason it gets the 1 star. Overall, I would return the game and buy it somewhere else if you payed more than $20.00 for it. The only reason I even bought the game was so I could write the guide and then sell it on ebay for 5 bucks more! Hope no one reading this guide buys the game from ebay! :) 2.2 (Controls) Left Analog Stick: Walk/Run Right Analog Stick: Move Camera Angle Triange: Center View Square: Use Item Currently Selected X: Action/Equip an Item Circle: Cancel/Go Back R1: Scroll Items/ Put Selected Item Away R2: Scroll Tools L1: Call Your Dog L2: Call Your Horse START: Pause SELECT: View Map 2.3 (Story) Just like almost all HM games, your grandpa dies. BUT! That's where the similarities end. So anyway, you are sent to his farm to collect his belongings, but you soon realize that the whole town (farm included) is going to be turned into an amusement park (YAY! I mean... oh no!). It is to find a way to save the town from the evil construction workers. You got a year... good luck! NOTE: That costruction worker joke wasn'y meant to insult anyone... :) Sorry to any of my construction work'n readers. There's your field, your house, chicken coop, barn, pasture, and the Harvest Sprite house. 3.3 (Events) Unlike the other HM's, there are no festivals! There are also no guranteed events. By this I mean that in order for these events to take place, you need to befriend people. Oh well, more of a challenge I guess. Also, all of these events are ways that you can save the whole town. Blue Bird: After you become friends with Louis, he will tell you that he once saw a rare blue bird. He also tells you that Woody thinks it extinct. So this is a way to save the town! To befriend him, give him lots of eggs. For some reason, he
likes those. Legendary Fish: Befriend Joe and he will give you the fishing pole. Then catch three fish. Then you will find out about a Legendary Fish that roams the depths of the lake from Joe and Katie. I befriended Joe by giving him a gift everytime I saw him. It took like five times before I got the pole. Treasure Hunt 1: Befriend Tim (the little kid who hangs out around the super market) by giving him lots of eggs. Eventually he will tell you about a treasure map. I'm not sure what happens next, since I'm still giving the brat eggs, so anyone who has witnessed this event, please email me at Duenos14@aol.com. And as usual, credit will be given. Treasure Hunt 2: This is just like Treasure Hunt 1, except your dog helps! So become an even better friend with Tim (also get some hearts with your dog) and you will be able to hunt for treasure with your dog. Once again, I'm not sure what happens next, since I'm still giving the brat eggs, so anyone who has witnessed this event, please email me at Duenos14@aol.com. And as usual, credit will be given. Cake Contest: Once you befriend Katie, walk into the bar place and look out for a little movie time. You will find out about your grandma's famous home made cake that everyone in town loved. Katie is interested in making that famous cake to satisfy everyone's taste buds one more time. OR SO YOU THINK! Turns out she wants it so she can enter the big Cake Contest! Oh well. Head over to your house and hit "X" in front of the shelf thats on the left side of the room (This is if you havn't had the kitchen made yet). Then head over to the bar whenever you can. You will find out that Katie was entering so that she can save the town by becoming a famous baker... Riiiight. Then you find out that you need some various items to make the cake. Sheesh! So ask around town to find out what to do. REMEMBER: NEVER STOP BECOMING A BETTER FRIEND WITH KATIE. SOME OF THESE EVENTS REQUIRE MORE OF A FRIENDSHIP THAN OTHERS. Horse Race: Once you got your horse, you should find out about the horse race at Brownie Farm. Enter it and try to win. You should probably become good friends with your horse before you enter. Azure Swallow Tail: Become friends with all of the following people: Kurt, Lyla, Louis, and Parsely. Of course, in order for this event to take place, you only need to befriend Kurt and Lyla. But the search for the A.S.T. goes faster if you are good friends with Louise and Parsely. Dress of the Goddess: Befriend everyone at Clove's Villa (heh...good luck). Then talk to them. You find out that Gina wants to make Dia a dress. So talk to Louis. He will tell you where to find a special thread used to make the Harvest Goddess' dress. Endangered Weasel: There is a monster terrorizing the poor little Harvest Sprites (COOL! I mean poor things... COOL!). So give Gwen lots of berries. The Harvest Sprites should tell you what's been going on. Then talk to Gwen. I know all of these events are a little weird, but I don't get them either. What happened to the Flower Festival and the Egg Contest?! Like I said, this HM sucks. 3.4 (Items) There are two types of items in this game. Tools and sellable items. 3.4.1 (Sellable)
This walkthrough took a while, and I would appreciate it if you didn't steal from me. You can use it to make a walkthrough of your own, but make sure to give me credit.Just don't copy me word for word.That's bad.You could get arrested if you did something like that and published it, blah blah blah. Most of you already know that, but to those select few...don't cross me. ^.~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------2) This game and all its characters and everything else belong to Natsume. I own nothing, even though this is a truly wonderul game that should be enjoyed by all. I couldn't have done this walkthrough without lots of information, which I got from Harvest Moon Farm, Harvest Moon Meadow and Harvest Kitchen. Those are some of the most terrific sites out there, you should go visit! Harvest Moon Farm: http://hmfarm.com Harvest Moon Meadow: http://hmmeadow.com Harvest Kitchen: http://www.geocities.com/harvestkitchen/index2.html Alright. This game was made by Natsume, and is out for the Playstation 2 console. Your goal is to save the farm in a year through nine different endings. Your goal is more focused on character interaction, but there are still animals and crops and everything else. There is a new set of characters and everything, this game is truly one of the best yet for this series! ----------------------------------------------------------------------3) Many people get confused when they first start playing this game. It is different to the others in many ways, and may take some getting used to. The first thing you should do is check your map. Press the 'select' button to see a map of the town. When you go over the town and the hand turns red, push the 'x' button. It will tell you what building that is. On the first day you don't need to plant crops or anything. You should just try to get used to the area, and you should explore abit. It can be easy to get lost. If you start to find your way around, it would be a good idea to gather things that you can sell. You can find fruits and flowers in many places. Everything can be sold. If you really are desperate to buy crops, you can get some at Lyla's Flower Shop. That's basically what you should do on the first day. It's fairly easy to get money, so you don't have to panic. Everything will work out fine. Within the first week you should
try to make friends with alot of the villagers, and should plant some crops. You should even try capturing a dog. (We will talk more about that later.) ------------------------------------------------------------------4) There are six shops in the village. I have provided a list of each, including their hours, days closed, shop list, owner and location. Here I will tell you the main animals and how to get them. I will also tell you how much they cost, and how much their produce sells for. Chicken: All the HM games have chickens. They are what everyone gets in the beginning, because they are the least expensive. You can buy them at Brownie Farm at the Farmers Shop for 500G. Of course if you want more chickens you can get them for free, because all you have to do is incubate an egg. The eggs can be sold for 50G each. You can buy chicken food for 10G a meal. One meal will feed one chicken, so if you have three chickens, it would cost 30G to feed them all. Here is a better list. Price-50G Sell Price-300G Produce: Egg price-50G Growing: It takes three days for an egg to hatch. For a chick to turn to a chicken, it takes six days.
Phases: As your chicken likes you more, it will say different things. There are no hearts so that you will be able to tell how it likes you, but you can tell it likes you more when it says something new. First it will say: "I'll take care of you." Secondly, the text will say: "Are you getting stronger?" Cows: Cows are one of the most important animals in the game. They can be bought at Brownie Farm at the Farmers Shop for 2500G. Before you buy a cow, you should buy a brush and milker. The milker is 1800G and the brush is 300G. You can buy those things at Louis' Tool Shop. When you buy your cow it will live in the barn. But you should take it outside on nice days to let it graze. It can stay outside overnight, but make sure to bring it in the day before it rains. You should also take your cow inside if there is a 50% chance of rain, just incase. You should brush and talk to your cow everyday, and make sure to feed it fodder when it is inside! If your cow is sick, you must buy medicine to heal it, and if you want your cow pregnant, then you should buy the miracle potion and give it to the cow. Here is a more detailed list. Price-2500G Sell price-3000G Produce: Small milk-150G Medium milk-200G Large milk-300G Grand Milk-400G Growing up: It depends. Phases: As with chickens, it will say different things when your cow likes you more. First thing it says: "Grow up good and strong." After that, for however much it likes you, the milk will be better quality. -------------------------------------------------------------------6) Horse: In STH, you have to work hard to get your horse. There is no easy way to get it. What you have to do is go to the Brownie Farm. You must do part-time work very often. If you do enough of this, and are friends with Bob and Tim, he will come to your farm and give you a horse. You can't choose what colour horse you get, but there is more than one color. There is dark brown, grey, and basically any other colour that the horses are in Brownie Farm. The horse will stay in the barn, and you can let it out to pasture to eat. You have to brush it and talk to it everyday, and if it isn't outside you must feed it fodder. When the happiness is high, you will be able to ride it! Unlike other HM games, you can ride your horse through town, enabling you to get to places faster. Price:free! Heart rates: One heart: "We are getting along better. Two hearts: "He can run now." Three hearts: "He is running faster now." Four hearts: "Top speed. He is like the wind." Five hearts: "He is confident and won't lose to anyone." (There is no sure-fire way to get the horse colour you want, but I have a pretty good method that usually works. All you have to do is this. On the first day of brushing the animals in your part-time job, don't brush or talk to any other horse except for the one you want. After that, of course take care of the cows. The next day, take care of all the animals, including all the horses. But since you talked only to one horse the first day, that horse will eventually like you more than the others. Then he will be yours! Try it, it works. ^^)
--------------------------------------------------------------------7) Dog: You also have to work very hard to get a dog. It does not come automatically in this game. There is a dog food bowl next to your house. Every night, you should put food into it. There are two stray dogs you can 'choose' from. There is the standard brown HM dog, or a husky dog. Feed the dog every night for a few weeks. Do not approach the dog until you have feed it for a few weeks. When you think you have fed it enough, slowly approach the dog. If it runs away fast, don't chase it. It is not yet ready to be caught. If it doesn't run away quickly, then go up to it and try to catch it by pushing the 'x' button. If you catch it, the dog is yours to keep, and it will stay with you. You can also find the dogs in other places around the farm, like near the Carpenters Shop, or the Harvest Godess lake. Here is more info about the dog. Price:free! Heart Rates: One heart: "He is starting to like me." Two hearts: "He comes to me when I whistle." Three hearts: "I think he's starting to run faster now." Four Hearts: "He is getting smarter and listens to what I say." Five Hearts: "A mans best friend. He is my buddy." When you get the flute, you can teach your dog tricks! Here is a list of the tricks. Lay: up, down, down Sit: up, left, down Sit up: down, up, up Round up cows: right, left, right Heel: left, right, right Jump: left, up, right Bark: left, right, left, right You can get the flute from Louis. But you can't buy it, You have to be good friends with him. He will give you a flute and teach you how to play it. This is how to play the flute. Equip the flute and press 'square' button. Then hold down the 'x' button, and use the up, down, left, right, R1, R2, L1, and L2 buttons to play notes. The more notes you try out, the more tricks you can teach and learn your dog. The more you practice the commands with the dog, the more he will learn. ---------------------------------------------------------------------8) Okay, now I will tell you about the crops! You already know how much they all sell for, but here is a reminder. You can plant crops all year except for winter, and there is only four. You can buy the seeds at Lyla's Flower Shop. But planting seeds is a little different than on the other HM versions. When you buy seeds and plant them, they only take up one square! On all the other games they took up several, but on this version they only take up one. You have 64 spaces for crops on your field. Crops are in eight rows of eight. Never plant seeds on a rainy day! The seeds will just be washed away, and you will have wasted much money for nothing! Alright, here are the crops. Potatoes Buy for: 20G
To get the fishing rod on this game give Joe a few gifts of eggs. In a few days you will become pretty good friends. Go to the Maple Lake. You will see a little sequence and Joe will give you the fishing rod! Now you can fish! Fishing may be slightly confusing. When you first get your rod, you will get a walkthrough on how to fish. To use the rod, press the 'square' button. Then you can move where you want to cast, and hold down 'x' button. When the line is cast you can let go of 'x', you don't have to keep holding it down. When you get a bite, four arrows will appear. One at a time, these arrows will move. If the 'up' arrow moves, than hold the 'up' button. If the 'down' button moves, than hold the 'down' button. I think you basically get the point here. While you are doing this, you must also hold down the 'x' button to reel it in. This will help you succesfully reel in and catch the fish. After you catch it you can sell it or use it for recipies! (yum!) Places/Times to fish During certian times, it is easier to catch fish than others. Here is a list. They are all kind of interesting to watch. Weather Channel Channel number: 1 When you turn on the TV, it is on the weather channel. It tells you what the most likely weather for the next day should be, and you should check this channel everyday. It doesn't say the exact weather, instead it gives you a percentage. I have put the percentages here, so that you have a better idea of what to expect. 0%- Don't worry. It will probably not rain. 20%- Most likely it will not rain. But I know some people who don't want to take the chance, and just bring in their animals anyways. 40%- You should prepare to bring your animals inside. This is a fairly high percentage, and it might rain. 60%- bring in your animals for sure. Around 92% of the time, you will get rain with this forcast. 80%- Yes! Bring in your animals! This is a very high percent, it will most likely rain the next day. 100%-ummm I wonder? Should you bring in the animals if there's a 100% chance it will rain? -.Farmer's Tips Channel Channel number: 2
All you do is watch this channel, and it will give you tips and hints on how to care for your animals and crops and such. (Why would you need this channel? Isn't my walkthrough good enough? *cryz* ^.~) Horoscope Channel Channel number: 3 This gives you your horoscope for the day. If any of you have been dormant all your lives and don't know what a horoscope is, it predicts your future according to star signs. A star sign would be, for example, Taurus. That it anybody born in April! Yay for them! *high five* Uhh...anyways, back to the walkthrough. ----------------------------------------------------------------------17) For STH, there are only two extensions. They are the Dog House and the Kitchen. Even though they are the only ones, they are well worth it. Dog House Price: 5000G Description: You can't get a dog house until you have caught your dog. The dog house is good, because once you get it, you don't need to bring your dog inside when it rains. It will just go into its dog house and be safe and dry. Kitchen Price: 10000G Description: This is a very wise investment, and you should really buy it! ^^ You can cook all sorts of food using the frying pan, pot and oven. It also comes with a two extra rooms. The one on the right is a toilet, and the one on the left is a bath. Use the bath to restore your stamina. It also comes with a fridge where you can store foods. ----------------------------------------------------------------------18) There are nine different endings for STH. Once you complete an ending, then the game is over. But if you complete it, you can still start a new year on your old file, with all your old stuff! That way you can keep on going, and you can get all the endings. If you need help with the endings, talk with the Harvest Godess. She will give you hints on who to talk to next, or on what to do. What a nice lady. ^.~ Oh yeah, I don't have descriptions for every ending, so just bear with me alright? The Azure Swallowtail In this ending, you must find a rare butterfly to save the village. If it is found, they won't be able to destroy the village, because the butterfly resides there. In order to find the butterfly, you need to find a blue flower. The butterfly really likes it! Characters that help you for this ending: Kurt, Lyla, Louis, Parsely The Endangered Weasel Nik, Nak, and Flak the Harvest Sprites are being harrassed by something. You have to be friends with Gwen to do this. Characters invoved: The Harvest Sprites and Gwen.
How to do it: First off, become friends with Gwen. After you are her friend, one day the Sprites will be on your table. They will be complaining about a weasel that is terrorizing them. You will automatically go to the Godess Lake. You and the Sprites will be hiding behind a bush. Gwen sees you and gets mad at you. The Godess and the Sprites come up with an idea to take a picture of the weasel. In a few days Gewn will come back. Louis has made a camera, because she made him. She will ask you to go to the Godess Lake at 7:00PM so that you can take the picture. That night the Weasel will not come out. You will walk Gwen home, and she feels really bad. A few days later, Gwen will come back again and ask you to meet her at the lake at 7:00PM to take a picture. When you get to the lake, you and Gwen have a talk. Then the weasel will come out, and Gwen will take the picture. She still feels bad. In a week or so, Louis and Gwen will come back. They will show you a newspaper that has the picture of the weasel on the front page. Louis will leave so that you and Gwen can be alone. The credits will come up after you talk to Gwen. After the credits, you and Gwen will be sitting on the roof of your farmhouse. Gwen will say she is happy you saved the place, and then she will kiss you. (Awww, how sweet...*.*) The Treasure Hunt: Part One Tim finds a treasure map, and since he always wanted to be a treasure hunter, he is very excited. You have to become friends with him and his brother, Bob. Characters involved: Bob and Tim How his One ask and to do it: Tim really likes eggs, so give him a whole bunch so that you can become friend. day he will go to your farm and tell you that he has found a treasure map. He will you to help, you can either say yes or no.
If you say yes, you will suddenly be at Maple Lake and in the trees. Tim will be trying to find the spot by following the maps directions. You'll dig automatically where he tells you and you will find a chest! After unlocking it, you find that it is just a bunch of old junk. Bob will appear. He tells you that he couldn't throw away his old toys, so he buried them instead. Tim is very upset, because he actually thought he would find a great treasure. Not a chest of what he thought was junk. This is just half the real ending. For the rest, you have to do The Treasure Hunt: Part Two! Treasure Hunt: Part Two Just like the last one, Tim finds a treasure map. This time it's a different one though. Your dog seems to be really good at sniffing out treasure, so make sure you take good care of it. Characters involved: Your Dog and Tim How to do it: This is the second part of the Treasure Hunt ending. Even though it counts as a seperate ending, they are actually connected (you have to complete the first part in order to do this second half).
Okay, so what happens is Tim comes to your farm. He tells you that he found a real treasure map this time. He says that he had found it in the box of old junk that you both dug up earlier. He gives you a copy of the map so that you can try to find the "gateway in Praria Forest". If you aren't already friends with Dia, you should go make friends with her. Go to Clove's Villa and she'll tell you she knows nothing about it. Then go talk to Martha. You have to become her friend as well. She will tell you that there are blueprints in the house somewhere. Later, go into the Villa. Find Dia, and you will automatically talk to her and ask for help. After a week or so, Dia will tell you that she found something about the Sacred Forest. You will see some blueberries, and a patch with symbols. This guide tells you what it means. The The The The Heart shape: red crop: tomatoe: five bags Square shape: yellow crop: corn: five bags Star shape: root crop: potatoes: six bags other shape: brown crop: breadfruit: five bags
Now you have to water them every day. The Horse Race Bob and Gwen think that they have the best horses. You have to get a horse and train it, so that you can ride it and beat them! Characters involved: Gwen and Bob How to do it: First of all, you have to become friends with Bob and Gwen, and you need to have gotten a horse. I already covered how to get a horse, but incase you skipped that part or forgot, what you have to do is work part time at Brownine Farm. Eventually once you are friends with Tim and Bob, they will bring you a horse and ask you to care for it and train it. At first it will be scared of you, but talk to it and brush it everyday and it will start to like you more. You can even go to the Godess Pond and wish for 'horse' to get the horses heart rating up, but be careful because she can make it like you less as well. When it likes you enough to let you ride it, an event will happen. A few days after you can ride your horse, Gwen and Bob will come by. Bob will be impressed that you have trained it already, but Gwen will gt angry and say that you could never beat her. Bob tells you to keep training your horse, and ignore Gwen. After a few weeks of taking good care of your horse, Bob will come back. He will ask you if you can run on your horse yet, and of course you can! Gwen will come up and you will have a discussion. Gwen will say that she wants to represent the town in the city's Horse Race. Whoever wins the race, their town will hold the race the next year, and they know that if they have to host a horse race they can't tear down the village! Bob will say he wants you to race Gwen, and whoever wins their horse will represent the town. Bob then tells you to keep taking good care of your horse. Of course eventually you will race Gwen. If you win, the town is saved! The Godess Dress Gina wants to suprise Dia with a dress for the festival. You have to help Gina find the thread to sew the dress and become friends with them too.
Characters involved: Dia, Gina, Katie, Louis A Fishy Story Joe will tell you about a rare fish that is swimming deep in the lake. Once you are friends with Joe, he will give you an old fishing rod. You must learn more about this rare fish. Characters involved: Joe and Katie The Bluebird At night, Louis feeds birds and plays his flute by the lake. He once saw a rare bluebird, and Woody says that the spcies is extinct! But if the bird really does exsist then the village will be saved, because they can't tear down a rare animals habitat. Characters involved: Louis ----------------------------------------------------------------19) Of course, as you know, there is a Godess. You can wish several different things from her. Here is a list of what you can wish and what the wishes do for you. All you have to do to summon her is go to the Harvest Godess lake. Once you are at the lake, go to the far end of it where you can throw items in. You only get one wish per day, and they might not come out exactly how you want them to, because nobody, not even the Godess, is perfect. Energy: If you do this, your character will be rejuvinated! Fatique: All your characters fatique will be taken away from that day. Girl: If you wish for this, the Godess will make a girl like you more. The only thing is, is that you can't choose what girl will like you more, and she wont tell you of course. Horse: if you wish for this, the Godess will make your horse like you more. But she can also make it like you less, so watch out. Dog: Exact same as above. Can be helpful, but can also be a pain. -------------------------------------------------------------------20) For all you dirty little cheaters out there...shame on you! But of course I need to put this up, because alot of people do cheat....*everyone looks at Chobi* What?! Okay fine whatever, I cheat too. Not much here yet, because there are no responses to my walkthrough yet. But I know some people who wanted me to put up a few questions, so here we go. Q)Can you get married to the girls? A)As stated before, no you can't. Q)Why not? A)Well, I think it's because you only have one year to complete the game, and so there wouldn't be much time to stay married, would there? Q)Can you kill the animals with your farming tools? A)Erm....nooooo....o_O
Table of Contents Introduction Animals Sick/Death of Animal Tips/Hints How to get the Animals outisde FAQ Credits/Thanks
------------------------------------------------------------------------------I. Introduction Animals is part of the game in Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland. They can provide you food, money, and as a transportation. Animals can be very useful but it also takes up a lot of time. You would have to feed them, brush them, talk to them, etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------II. Animals There are 4 animals in this game as suppose to be 5 animals in the original Harvest Moon Game (Harvest Moon Back to Nature-PSX). You can keep a certain quantities of certain animals but you can only keep one animal such as dog. You can have 1 dog, 1 horse, 6 chickens, and 5 cows. A) Horse Getting a horse is pretty easy. When you go to Brownie Farm, you can buy things, do the Time-attack, or do part-time job. If you are a beginner, you would of course pick "do part-time job", by doing so, you get to go to this Brownie Ranch and do things such as brushing the cows and horses, milking the cow, and feed them. To get a horse, simply do part time job everyday, and be friends with Bob by giving him gifts such as eggs (hint, hint). Actually, you don't have to feed them (you never have to) but this is optional. Remember $50/hr (another hint, hint). If you're a newbie, stay as long as you want and you might make buck buck bucks. There are 5 choices of Horses you want, there's the light brown horse, the gray horse, the dark brown horse, another medium brown horse and a cream-colored horse. You can have a chance of getting one of them but only one, you can't get more than one after getting one already. To get the one you want, simply talk to one of them and brush him (don't talk or brush other horses you don't want). When you first talk to the horse you want, you would say something like "I hope he doesn't bite." Now in a few days, you should notice that the FIRST horse you say something positive to, like "You are looking nice today" or "You are actually really cute" is the horse you will get! (Third hint, hint) After a few days, Bob would take the horse you want or like to your farm first thing morning and you get to take care of it. Remember (fourth hint, hint) Brush your horse everyday (most important), talk to it, if you get to the fourth heart try to call it to you, and Ride it often!!!!! You can ride it outside of your farm if you want, run around the town and REMEMBER THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!! NEVER LET YOUR HORSE STAY OUTSIDE OF RAIN!!!! That could lower your relationship with your horse!!!!! But instead, when you check the TV channel to see tomorrow's weather, if it's a sunny day, just let him stay outside without pushing him back to the barn. Last thing to remember is to FEED IT EVERYDAY!!! You won't get to ride it at first, unless your relationship is high enough, you get to ride it Heart Rates 1 Heart-We are getting along better. 2 Hearts-He can run now. 3 Hearts-He is running faster now. 4 Hearts-Top Speed. He runs like the wind.
5 Hearts-He is confident he won't lose to anyone. B)Dog Now all of you might be curious about how to get a dog. For my personal experience, it had almost taken me about 2 weeks to get a dog. I was really surprised because I saw a dog running around the forest, then I thought I would be able to pick it up. I pressed X and I didn't know I could get a dog by doing this. I named him Doggy and fed him everyday. Everyone would think that dog is just useless, but on the other hand, it can be a great help to you. The only useful way of keeping a dog is to herd the cow. You would have to get a flute first to get the dog to herd the cow (for more information on how to get a flute check out my FAQ on this game). Pretend that it's a sunny day today, and its going to rain tomorrow, you would have to push all the cows back in to their barn. That would take like FOREVER!!! So in order to make your life more easier, just play the flute note: Run-Right,Left,Right on the Dpad. Then your dog would start running to the cows and tell them to get back to their barn. You would need to have about 4-5 hearts in order for your dog to herd the cow. There's two kind of dog, one is the original red one and the second one is the new blue dog. Until you've reached about 5 hearts to your dog, it would listen to every command you say. Heart Rates 1 Heart-He is starting to like me. 2 Hearts-He comes to me when I whistle. 3 Hearts-I think he's starting to run faster now. 4 Hearts-He is getting smarter and he listens to what I say. 5 Hearts-A man's best friend. He is my buddy. C)Chicken Chickens are usually the first animal you buy. They are easy to take care of and cheap! They can be bought at Brownie Farm(Farmer's Shop) for 500G each, and then the rest you can get for free by incubating the egg! You have to buy feed for your chicken (10bucks only). When you remember to feed your chicken and take care of it, it will lay eggs for you! You can then sell the eggs for 50G each. You can always check its stat by picking it up and pressing the SELECT key. Price-500G Sell Price-300G Produces: Egg, Golden Egg(Sunny Days) You can sell your egg for 50G at the Food Shop or the Bar/Cafe Grow Up Egg hatch-3 days Chick turn into a Chiken-6days First Saying-I'll take good care of you. Second Saying-Are you getting stronger? Third Saying-You are one happy chicken are you? Fourth Saying-Maybe you will produce a Golden Egg... D)Cows Cows are the best animal in this game. For my own personal experience, almost all of my money comes from the cow's milk. They can be bought at Brownie Farm (Farmer's Shop) for 2500. First of all, before you even buy a cow, you MUST buy a milker and a brush. Now, after you've bought one, brush it everyday, talk to it, feed them, and put them outside when it's a sunny day. After it's gone up to about 2 hearts, you can start milking them. Buy-2,500G Sell Price-3,000G Produces: Small Milk-150G, Medium Milk-200G, Large Milk-300G, Grand Milk-400G Grow Up
Calf turns into adult- 7 days Adult Cow give birth- 12 days (including first day, last day) Small Milk Cow turns into a Medium Milk Cow- 11 days Medium Milk Cow turns into a Large Milk Cow- 11 days ------------------------------------------------------------------------------III. Sick/Death of animal If you don't take care of your animals well, they will eventually be sick, and will die. The reason could be: 1) You don't feed them 2) You tried to harm it (using hoe or sickle on them) 3) Left them outside when it's raining The Chicken and the Cow will die sooner than the Horse and the Dog. When you first purchase a chicken, they will die (they must!!! It's one of the storylines, don't start crying), in fact them must die. (don't know why but they must!)You can buy a Animal Potion to cure your Chicken, or your Cow from being sick. But you can never prevent death from coming upon your animals. So take care of them well! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------IV. Tips/Hints 1) Never leave your animals outside when it's raining 2) Don't wake your animals up at night 3) Feed animals everyday 4) Put it outside when it's sunny 5) Brush them(Cow), Milk them, Ride them(Horse), and talk to them everyday 6) You can steal some fodder by doing Brownie Farm's part-time job 7) You can ride your horse out in the town 8) NEVER use the hoe or the sickle on your animals 9) You don't have to buy a Chicken, just buy an egg and put it in the incubator 10) Put the fodder and the Chicken Feed at the right place 11) Grab your dog, and talk to people while holding your dog and the affection rate with townspeople will increase ------------------------------------------------------------------------------V. How to get the Animals outside Many people are having problems with getting their animal outside. Heres the answers. 1)Dog - just grab him up and put him wherever you want, you can bring him inside your house 2)Horse - You can ride him around your farm, the stable and around the town. You can push his back to wherever you want in your farm (you can't do this outside of your farm). Do this by pushing him outside or back inside of the stable. 3)Chicken - Same as Dog but you can't bring them inside your horse 4)Cow - Same as Cow, push their back inside or outside of the stable ------------------------------------------------------------------------------VI. FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Q: How can I get a dog? A: You can get a dog by being friends with townspeople, and one day, if you encounter a dog, try to chase and grab it by pressing X. Q: How can I get the Horse? A: Do Animal Shop's Part-time job, pick your favorite horse, talk and brush to it first. Be friends with Bob and one day he will bring the horse you wanted the most.
Q: Can I choose which horse I want? A: Sure, just talk to the horse you wanted the most and Bob will bring it to you. Q: If my animals die, can I get another one? A: I am not too sure about this questions. You can always buy new Chickens or Cows if they die. You can probably get another Horse or Dog by doing the same thing you did to get them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------VII. ============================================================================== 2. - Cooking? ============================================================================== Cooking is one of the many things you can do once youve built a kitchen. The point of cooking is to take your normal, boring items and make new exciting dishes. These creations can then be used to generate large amounts of money, recover energy or use as gifts. Plus, its one of the most enjoyable features this game has to offer. :) ============================================================================== 3. - How To Cook ============================================================================== Cooking is simple enough to do. 1. First, you need to build a kitchen for 10000G. You can find the option to build one on the notepad in the Carpenter's Shop. 2. Next, go into your newly built kitchen and select which utensil you want to use: Frying Pan, Pot or Oven. 3. Lastly, select which ingredients you want to use (minimum of 1, maximum of 3). Controls: D-pad: R1: L1: O Button: X Button: Scroll up and down on the ingredients list. Scroll down one on the ingredients list. Scroll up one on the ingredients list. Cancel a selection. Confirm a selection.
Simple as that. You can also store food items in the refrigerator so they wont take up space in your rucksack. NOTE: - Only FOOD items can be kept in the refrigerator. - Only one utensil can be used at a time. Any recipe that isnt listed above cant be sold and are used as gifts/energy restoratives. ============================================================================== 7. - Q&A ============================================================================== Q: Does cooking affect any of A: No, but building a kitchen build the kitchen, but you to. Although, I dont know the endings? will raise your happiness score. You should dont have to use it if you dont really want why youre looking at this FAQ if you didnt. :)
Note: Yes, there is an ending that involves a cake contest, but you dont actually do the cooking, so my statement stands. Now stop e-mailing me about it. Q: What is the point to cooking? A: Some of the items can be sold in shops for cash, others will recover A LOT of energy when eaten. They can also be used as gifts for your neighbors. Mostly, cooking is used as one of the easiest ways to make money. Q: Are you sure these are all the recipes? A: All that I could find. Undoubtedly, there are a few combinations that I didnt think to try, so there might be more. If you find one that isnt listed here, please e-mail it to me, I will add it and credit you for the find. Q: Can I cook with ANY item? A: No, only food items. Don't go trying to cook Rare Minerals. :P Q: Why cant I put any of my other items in the refrigerator? A: Why would you want to put rocks, flowers and weeds in a refrigerator? 0_o Q: When you sell a cow, there is a base price. If its a good cow, you might get more money. Does the same principle go for recipes? A: Far as I can tell, no. Its rather random for it to happen with cows, so its possible that the same could be said of recipes. But I'm going with no. Q: When you say cheese can be sold here, do you mean just the item called Cheese, or any Cheese item? A: Just the item called Cheese. Q: How do I make tea/cookies? The game said I could! A: As far as I know, you can't. This has been researched since the game came out by various Harvest Moon fan sites. The in-game line about making tea is just random banter, as far as anyone can tell. Please note that I'm not saying that there isn't an item called Tea/Cookies in the game. There is, and you can buy them. You just can't make them. ============================================================================== End of Document.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------I. Introduction I recommend you to read the FAQ/Guides of this game before you start reading this Recipe FAQ/Guide. Cooking is an important part of the game. Cooking can be useful on restoring your energies, food to eat where you're hungry, and for presents to other people. You can cook up food that the townspeople would like. For more information about what townspeople like for the favorite food, check out the FAQ/Guide I wrote for this game. You need 3 ingredients, and a kitchen to start your way on cooking. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------II. Controls for Cooking There are a few controls for cooking X - Confirm O - Cancel R1 - Scroll down your next ingredient L1 - Scroll up your ingredient D-pad - Scroll up/down of your ingredients ------------------------------------------------------------------------------III. Building up Kitchen To start cooking, you must have a kitchen that costs $10,000. Earn yourself $10,000 and you can buy a kitchen at the Carpernter Shop. On the next day when you can wake up, you should see a door to your left. Go outside and you will go to a scene where Joe, Kurt, and Woody tells you that they've finished building a kitchen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------IV. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------IV. Ingredients for Cooking Pratically, if you find food, you find ingredient. Everything that is ediable are ingredients for cooking! Even Pontata Roots you find from digging soil, Herbs you find around the town, the Berries, Mushrooms, and Walnuts are ingredients for cooking. Some other things looks like food but they're actually not. Like the Mines/Ores, Weed, and the Flowers are not food!!! But you should probably know what food really is. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------V. Special Ingredient There are some ingredients that are special such as the Honey and Fish. Honey must be bought at Ronald's Food Shop and Fish must be fished out of Maple Lake. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------VI. Important/Useful Food There are some Useful food that can restores a lot of energy!!! They are the Full Moon Berry, Special Cheese, Golden Egg, Golden Milk, Cake, and the Cheese Cake. Full Moon Berry can be acquired behind the Cafe/Bar. It's near the Room where Katie lives but behind the Cafe/Bar. You probably won't see yourself but when you press X, you should be able to hear the sound where you pick something up. Now get out of there and you should see yourself holding a Full Moon Berry. If you want to see a close picture of the Full Moon Berry, try to go to the right of the Cafe/Bar, face the entrance to the Cafe/Bar and maybe you should see a little something that looks like a orange bread. A Full Moon Berry can only be picked up in Fall, it regrows every 3-4 days, and it does restores a lot of energy!!! You can make Special Cheese by using Golden Milk on the Pot. To get a Golden Egg or a Golden Milk, be very nice to your animals, bring it outside on sunny days, put them back in where they should be in when you know it's going to rain, feed them properly, and talk to them everyday. When you check your Status of your chicken, it should say, "Maybe you will produce a Golden Egg." If it did say something like that, that means your chicken will have a chance to produce Golden Egg. Do the same to the cows and you should receive a Golden Egg, or a Golden Milk someday. Cake can be made by using Egg, Milk (any size), and Breadfruit on Oven. It restores a lot of energy. Cheese cake can be made by using Milk(any size), cheese and breadfruit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------VII. The Amount of Energy some food restores Some food restores quite a lot of energy and some just restores a bit of energy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------VIII. Q: When Milk A: That back FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) you pour a Milk in the Pot, and presses O (Cancel), how can you get the back, that's ridiculous? is kind of ridiculous when you throw a Milk inside the Pot, and get it out. But it's all about playing the endings, not really the cooking.
Q: Can I store Mines/Ores or Flowers in the refrigerator? A: The Answer is no, only food can be stored inside the Refrigerator. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------IX. Credits/Thanks Thanks To GameFAQ for posting both my Game FAQ, and this recipe FAQ. Any problems just e-mail to Tony at tony_fan2000@hotmail.com
--------------------------------------------------H A R V E S T M O O N --------------------------------------------------for Playstation2 Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland Shop Guide By AdrenalineSL E-mail me: toiletrabbit@hotmail.com Version 1.1: Released August 26, 2002 This little document you're reading now is a FAQ that lists all the shops and what they buy/sell. Since the world of Harvest Moon isn't very big, there are only a few shops. It's a small community with very friendly people, although most of them seem to become annoyed when they are given more than one gift a day. Anyway, shopping in Harvest Moon is a bit different. You'd think that if you talk to the shopkeeper, you'd be given a menu that allows you to choose what to buy or sell. It's not that way in Harvest Moon. Oh, no. This game calls attention to the fact that shopkeepers are unnecessary, since a slip of paper next to the cash register "provides" the goods the store contains. Odd, yet convenient. Each store gives you two options: to buy or to sell. Clove's Villa, however, is the only exception. You can only buy things from there. BUY lists what you could buy from the store; SELL lists what the store could buy from you. Get it? It's not complicated. Don't worry. Just let it sink into your head. I promise the text won't run away by the time you return. Following the shop list is a small guide that will tell you how to procure certain types of food and items to sell to the shops. *****************************************************************************
[*] If you have a particularly healthy and happy cow, you may get more money for it. Mini Food/Item Guide -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Before you can do anything related to cooking, you must first have a kitchen. It's quite expensive. You can slowly save up the money by selling eggs, milk, corn and tomatoes. You can also raise your own chickens and sell them to Bob at the Farmer's Shop. Raising a chicken is simple. All you have to do is get an egg and place it in the incubator. After about two or three game days, the egg will hatch into a chick. A few more days of special care will make the chick grow big and strong. Foraging for wild fruits and stuff can also help. Anyway, once you have the kitchen, you'll be needing only the POT to concoct these tasty delicacies. ____________ | Confitures | (French for jam :)) Food | Ingredients -------------------+----------------------------Cranberry Jam | Cranberry x3 Blueberry Jam | Blueberry x3 Very Berry Jam | Very Berry x3 Mixed Berry Jam | Blueberry, Very Berry | Blueberry, Cranberry | Cranberry, Very Berry ________________ | Dairy Products | Milk comes from cows. Wow, that was a no-brainer. You can buy a cow from Bob at the Farmer's Shop. The price is fairly reasonable, considering the amount of money you can make once it starts to work its magical tits. Once you buy one, a calf will be sent to your farm. You will have to nurture it for a few days (six days, I believe) before it matures into a fine cow. Cows won't give up their milk unless they're happy, so you need to take good care of your cows and not forsake them. You'll need a brush and a milker, the proper tools for raising a cow. Brush and milk them everyday to slowly gain their affection. As the game progresses and you treat them right, the milk load will increase. Happy cows come from your farm! Food | Ingredients -------------------+----------------------------Yogurt | Milk M Cheese | Milk L ______ | Fish | The only way to get fish is to uh, fish? Yeah, that's it! But first, you need a fishing rod. You can get one by befriending Joe and bothering him while he
fishes near the Caf & Bar during his break time. Eventually, he'll give you an old fishing rod, with which you can use to catch fish at Walnut Lake. The fish bite the best during the early morning or on rainy days. To eventually get better fishing rods, follow the event: A Fishy Story. _______________ | Stones & Ores | You get these by tilling the soil during the night (it works during the day, too). This is completely random. If you strike something, you'll hear a loud "bing" sound. Sometimes you might find 10G. It's amazing to discover what lies underneath all that soil. _______ | Other | Certain types of food are seasonal.
