ARC GRP POLE INTRODUCTION ARC GRP Poles are a classic application of fibreglass that can withstand heavy mechanical loadings and the harshest atmospheric conditions. The major factors now encouraging the uptake of GRP are their inherent corrosion resistance, environmental safety and low installation costs. The lightweight also means installation is faster and achievable with less manpower.

DESIGN & ENGINEERING PRINCIPAL The ARC poles are designed according to the following standards AASHTOLTS-4 : Standard specification for structural support for highway sings, luminaries & traffic Signals. ANSI C 136. 20-1990: Fiber glass Reinforced Plastic Lighting Pole. IS 875 (PART 3) 1987: Code of practice for design Loads for building & structures WIND LOAD. Our Poles are design for wind speeds of 160 km/hr, However on request, we can also design for wind speeds up to 240 km /hr.
In tapered or cylindrical geometry, the ARC poles are suitable for a wide variety of applications such as; general lighting, traffic light poles, sign posts, urban fixtures, electrical power transmission poles, telephone poles, flagpoles, advertising poles, and protective fencing poles.
ARC GRP light poles are constructed of Polyester/Epoxy resin systems & glass fiber woven rowing with more than 65% of the reinforcing fibreglass in the axial vertical plane which increases desired rigidity & axial strength. The pole shaft is manufactured by Helical winding process. The winding is applied under tension and low angle for high axial strength, additional circular winding provided for compression strength. This allows the flexibility of materials placement, which make its the clear choice for this type of structure. Helical winding is accomplished on fully automatic computerised machine. Which wind the continuous high quality glass fiber on a prescribed pattern of mandrel to form a desired finished shape? This system allows the perfect combination of materials to form a proper structure of pole. This result of composites pole with a uniform surface for entire length. The same coated with specially formulated polyurethane coating with UV inhibitor to protect pole from sunlight for look good & long life. The pole shall be round with classic encases taper. The surface shall be free from crack or bubbles, damage, any exposed fiber & smooth surface shall be uniformly coloured The FRP pole shall be finished uniform coating equal to the performance of the aliphatic polyurethane. The pole length have a tolerance of not exceeding 0.3m. Per 10m. Deflection of the pole as per the AASHTO LTS- 4 shall not exceed a 15%(Depends upon requirement of the length of the pole above the ground line. When subject to maximum wind loading & shall not have more than 1% permanent deflection. The poles are available with two types of Bases: a. Direct Burial type pole b. Anchor Base type pole Both type of poles are available with different mounting type. a. Top Mount type b. Side Mount type c. Arm Mount type Junction Box/ Hand hole is available.

There are four main properties that are considered when designing an ARC GRP pole: a. b. c. d. Deflection Strength Shear Fatigue
Deflection is controlled with preferential orientation and volume of fibre reinforcement. The strength must be sufficient to resist loading and compressive buckling, and is benefited by off-angle reinforcement, as is shear. Resistance to fatigue is increased by balancing the laminate structure to minimize internal stresses and fibre interactions. An additional design consideration is Fatigue. Wind poses a significant fatigue load of varying frequency to poles and masts, which must be accounted for. In general, the selection of a compatible resin and reinforcement system, with the service conditions in mind, is essential to obtain a quality product.

Light Weight Thanks to it 's light weight, it save time, manpower and equipment during the installation process. It can be erected by a crew of only two or three people without need for crane or hoist, greatly reducing traffic diversion and resultant cost. Non Conductive Fiberglass is nonconductive, thereby reducing the possibility of electric shock & associated liability cost. Corrosion Resistant Fiberglass reinforced pole will not deteriorate in salty air climate, acid rain or acid soil., which enhances long- term life & strength. Low Maintenance Fiberglass light poles will not rust or corrode which drastically lower maintenance cost over the lifetime of the pole. High Strength FRP poles are engineered to withstand the specified winds with the calculation of its wind load conforming to AASHTO LTS-2 1985. Its low temperature performance is exceptional. It will get stronger in extreme cold. FRP Economical Compared with metal and cement ones the FRP pole need lower transportation and installation fee. Its maintenance fee is zero and has long service life. Therefore its comprehensive cost is lower . In the long run FRP pole is more economical than wood, metal or cement ones.
