Admission 2011

The M. Tech Programme in Sustainable Environment is a two-year programme, divided into four semesters, totalling up to 100 credits. Dissertation and Summer Internship are an integral part of Masters Programme along with other integrated fieldwork and studios. The Post Graduate Diploma in Climate Change & Sustainable Development is a one-year programme, with two semesters of six months each. The Diploma programme has a total of 50-60 credits. Candidates will also have to write a research paper to complete their diploma. The application forms can be downloaded from www.cept.ac.in from April 15th 2011 onwards. Completed applications should be submitted on or before June 21th 2011, along with an application fee of Rs. 1000/- for Indian candidates and USD 30 for International candidates. The admission test will be held in Delhi on July 5, 2011, Bangalore on July 6, 2011, Pune on July 07, 2011 and in Ahmedabad on July 11, 2011. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the written test, group discussion and a personal interview. The merit list will be based on the academic grades, prior work experience and performance in the admission process. The foreign applicants will be judged upon their application and two reference letters, to be submitted along with the application. Facilities
Campus : CEPT University has its own campus situated near Gujarat University , Navrangpura area. Hostels : Accommodation is available for full time male students of the school at the CEPT hostel. Limited accommodation for full time female students is arranged in the Professors Quarters/Ladies Hostel run by the Ahmedabad Education Society.

Eligibility
The minimum education requirement for the course is 10+2+4 for professional course graduates and 10+2+5 for arts and humanities graduates. For candidates from India and other SAR countries, a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for the general category and 45% aggregate marks for SC/ ST/ OBC categories, in B.E. / B.Tech / B.Arch /B. Plan., or MA / M.Sc. in Geography / Economics / Sociology / Law / Environmental Science / Physics / Atmospheric Sciences or MBA. For candidates from countries other than SAR, a bachelors degree in physical sciences, engineering, social sciences, or planning and policy studies is required. Relevant work experience in above fields is desirable.

FOSECC
The Faculty of Sustainable Environment & Climate Change at CEPT University was established in 2010 to strengthen the multi-disciplinary expertise among professionals to address the emerging environmental and societal concerns. The Faculty will conduct educational programmes, training and capacity building exercises, undertake research and publication, and carry out networking and institutional cooperation. A specialised Centre for Climate Change Studies is also being established under the FOSECC.

MTech In Climate Change And Sustainable Development

The Programme
The programme uniquely focuses on the issues pertaining to climate change, environmental problems and human settlements. It intends to equip the candidates with state-of-art tools and techniques for understanding, analysing and interpreting the impacts of climate change on human settlements, their constituent sectors like: infrastructure, transport, housing etc. and ways to adapt to the perceived climate changes and manage them. The course is targeted at development professionals, decision-makers, private-sector practitioners and students, mainly from the SAR countries who wish to enhance their knowledge sets by acquiring the basic understanding on climate change, its impacts and adaptation tools and techniques.

Pedagogy
The programme is divided into four semesters of six months each. Each semester has focussed subjects on different aspects of Environment, Sustainable Developments, Climate Change, impacts and their management. The curriculum is highly interactive. Emphasis is laid on seminars, discussions and self-reading. Studio culture is encouraged and is also given substantial weightage, which emphasises not just on the theory but also on the practical application involving field visits and holistic analysis. Summer internship is a two month, mandatory exercise for all candidates of the Masters programme which enables the student to get professional exposure by working on live projects in various institutional setups. Dissertation is a part of the fourth semester curriculum.
