MESSY SERIES PART 1: A MESSY VIEW OF LIFE

MESSY LIKE A FROG IN A KETTLE!

Do not let the world squeeze you into its mold . . . (Romans 12:2 PH) For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear. They will reject the truth and follow strange myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4 NLT) I want to remind you that in the last days there will be scoffers who will laugh at the truth and do every evil thing they desire. (2 Peter 3:3 NLT) These people will speak lies disguised as truth. Their consciences have been scarred as if branded by a red-hot iron. (1 Timothy 4:2 GWT)
Its messy because its _____________ Its messy because its __________________ Its messy because its _________________________

The door is wide and the road is easy that leads to hell. Many people are going through that door. But the door is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life that lasts forever. Few people are finding it. (Matthew 7:13-14 NLV)

Our culture is calling into question every absolute and replacing eternal truth with popular opinion. Whats a Christian to do? Unfortunately, many compromise with the culture, buying into a myth that much of what the Bible says is a vestige of a more superstitious era. We should grow out of its teachings as we grew past belief in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. (Allan Moseley Thinking Against The Grain)

MESSY WHATS YOUR WORLDVIEW?

A worldview is the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world. Whether conscious or subconscious, every person has some type of worldview. A personal worldview is a combination of all you believe to be true, and what you believe becomes the driving force behind every emotion, decision and action. Therefore, it affects your response to every area of life. As Christians, we are commanded to have a Biblical worldview. A biblical worldview is based on the Word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely true, then you allow it to be the foundation of everything you say and do. (Del Tackett- Focus On The Family)
See to it that nobody enslaves you with philosophy and foolish deception, which conform to human traditions and the way the world thinks and acts rather than Christ. (Colossians 2:8 CEB) Be careful not to let anyone rob you of this faith through a shallow and misleading philosophy. Such a person follows human traditions and the worlds way of doing things rather than following Christ. (Colossians 2:8 GWT)
Our worldview are the _____________________________ by which we see the world Our worldview is the ____________________________ by which we make decisions Our worldview is the _________________________ by which we determine morality

The way you behave comes from something. Your attitudes and actions spring from your value system and your value system is based on what you believe. At the foundation of a persons life, we find his beliefs. These beliefs shape his values, and his values drive his actions. (Josh McDowell)

MESSY - THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TRUTH

"What is truth?" Pilate asked. (John 18:38 NLT) Jesus said to them, ``You are truly my disciples if you live as I tell you to, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'' (John 8:31-32 LB)
For truth to be TRUTH it must be ________________________ (for all situations) For truth to be TRUTH it must be ___________________ (for all people)

. . . all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes. (Judges 17:6 NLT)
For truth to be TRUTH it must be _____________________ (for all time)

But God's truth stands firm like a foundation stone . . . (2 Timothy 2:19 NLT)

The culture of modern America exalts feeling and preference over thinking and truth more than does any other western culture in history. Generally speaking, American Christians succumb to this cultural disposition more commonly than they obey the command of their Lord to love God with all of their minds. (Allan Moseley)

CLEAN UP THE MESSY - MAKE A COMMITMENT TO TRUTH!

GOAL 1: Every Christian must know _____________________ they believe

Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. (Ephesians 4:14 NLT)
GOAL 2: Every Christian must ___________________ for what they believe

But you must continue to believe the truth and stand in it firmly . . . (Colossians 1:23 NLT)
GOAL 3: Every Christian must know how to __________ what they believe

You are the light of the world. You cannot hide a city that is on a mountain. Men do not light a lamp and put it under a basket. They put it on a table so it gives light to all in the house. Let your light shine in front of men. (Matthew 5:14-16 NLV)
