A Note to you, -We have finished association camps for this year. We have two more retreats this month. The number of campers through last week has been as follows: Ewing Group-134, Sugar Creek Group-97, Boys week-24, Girls week-51, Sr. Co-ed-27, Jr. Co-ed-59 for a total of 392. There have been a combined total of 33 salvation decisions in all the camps, including the Ewing and Sugar Creek groups. We had 161 campers with 19 salvation decisions and 16 rededications in the association camps. We had to replace an air conditioner in the kitchen and a pump in the swimming pool but otherwise this year has been trouble free. -Remember in prayer our Association Revivals in September and October. -We are holding Fall Hymn Sings on August 27 at Providence Baptist Clark County, August 28 at Salem Baptist, Irvine, and August 30 at Reid Village Baptist, Mt. Sterling. Please support with your attendance the one closest to your area. -The next executive board meeting for the association is August 13 at the camp dining room. Food For Thought: 1 Peter 2:21-24 (NKJV) 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth"; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed. K. S.Wuest gave this commentary on the above scripture, Peter changes over easily from the idea of a child tracing over the writing of the writing-master to a Christian planting his feet in the foot-prints left by our Lord. In this context, these footprints are foot-prints of suffering. But the illustration holds good for our Lords entire life. Just as a child slowly, with painstaking effort and close application, follows the shape of the letters of his teacher and thus learns to write, so saints should with like painstaking effort and by close application, endeavor to be like the Lord Jesus in their own personal lives. Or, as a small child endeavors to walk in the footprints made by his fathers feet in the snow, so we are to follow in the path which our Lord took. The Greek word follow means literally to take the same road as someone else takes. We should walk the same road that Jesus walked, in short, be Christlike. Yours in Christ,

Bro. John Ryder
