Grading Norms
Faculty of Business Admin. Grading Policy Normalized such that: ~ 10-14% will receive ~ 31-41% will receive ~ 32-46% will receive ~ 0-18% will receive A+, A, AB+, B, BC+, C, CD, F, N

Exams (60%)
Questions on Midterm (25%) and Final (35%) exams will be from lectures and textbook All exams are closed book Primarily Multiple Choice with possibly some True/False and Short Answer questions Midterm during week 7 (see Syllabus) Final exam covers the whole course

12 Textbook Quizzes (one per chapter) -- used to motivate reading the textbook BEFORE coming to class DUE before the lecture !!! 10 randomized Multiple Choice & True/False questions Timed for 20 min Automatically graded, allowed two attempts (higher score = grade) Quiz 1 allows 5 attempts (extra trials for practice) You will NOT see what you did wrong online! You can see your TA to find out detailed results

Group Assignment (20%)


Students will be placed into 6 groups per tutorial in week 4
Complete Demographic Questionnaire online by week 3

Participatory Learning Techniques


1. Pop-up quizzes 2. Survey or self-assessment 3. Small group presentations 4. Think pair share 5. Brainstorming 6. Role play 7. Writing activity without having class discussion 8. Writing activity followed by a class discussion 9. Work in pairs 10. Work in small groups

Each group will write a term research report on the OB topic of their choice (10%) Groups will also deliver a 10 minute presentation on the same topic, in the tutorial, during the last 2 weeks of classes (10%) All students will fill out the Peer Evaluation Form which requires each student to rate the participation of ALL the members in the group

A field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behaviour within organizations; the aim is to apply such knowledge toward improving organizational effectiveness

Organization A consciously coordinated social unit:


composed of a group of people functioning on a relatively continuous basis to achieve a common goal or set of goals

OB is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behaviour within an organization. Each level of analysisthe individual, the group, and the organizationpresents challenges in workplace. OB is built on contributions from a number of behavioural disciplines, including psychology, sociology, social psychology, and anthropology. It goes beyond common sense.
