Evaluation:
Take-home final examination plus class participation. Class participation will be used to adjust grades upwards or downwards by at most one step (i.e. B to B+ or A- to B+). The quality of participation is more important than quantity. Quality in this context means helpfulness to the discussion and integration of the assigned readings to the topic at hand, not being right about everything you say. This course has an online discussion forum on its ANGEL website. Substantive participation in the online forum can count toward your class participation, although not to the same extent as participation in class. Online participation is optional and you will not be penalized for failing to contribute to the online discussions. I may sometimes start or contribute to an online discussion, but do not assume that I will read or respond to any particular online comment. Email me directly anything that needs a response.
