Gorgeous Geek Chapter XXV: To Be Faithful

Chapter XXV: To Be Faithful

Sitting on top of the bleachers, Tiffany kept her distance from Faith. Even though on the inside Tiffany knew Faith was biologically like her, Faith was still a man in everything else and this made her uncomfortable. She had known him for three years now. This year, senioritis hit him too early so he was slacking off in every class they shared. Still, Faith seemed pretty mellow as he kept his eyes on the girls on the tennis courts. Tiffany folded her hands on top of her notebook and crossed her legs. The girls who were on the tennis courts were none other than the Femme Fatales. Jezebelle was on one side of the tennis court by herself with Xuan Lan, Juliet, and Wendy on the other. From Tiffany's perspective, Jezebelle was having a death match against Xuan Lan and the younger girl was losing by a huge margin. Wendy was in charge of changing the scoreboard while Juliet was in charge of picking up balls. The poor brown-haired girl was wearing a flowing white dress while she did this too. She's pretty isn't she? asked Faith, gazing at the girls at the tennis courts. I've heard, said Tiffany, a bit irritated. Do you actually like her? I'm asexual so it's more like admiration. I want to be more like her. No you don't, said Tiffany in a low voice. Faith turned his head in question in which Tiffany shook her head. Nothing. I believe you. I trust you won't date Jennifer so I'm good for now. Awesome. If you don't mind, said Tiffany, turning her back toward the tennis courts and at the sky instead. I don't want to watch them anymore. This is actually a quiet place. Tiffany smiled softly and took out her pen. I'll write the latest news here for now. This is the first time we really talk alone, said Faith suddenly in a soothing voice. I guess so, said Tiffany, shrugging. I know everything about you though.

Stalker. Tiffany started writing down notes. In general, I mean. I don't know anything about your private life at home since I'm only interested in your school life. Let me guess, said Faith, stretching and laying against the benches. Your mind is filled with questions you're dying to ask me. Faith tossed Tiffany a startling sexy smile that caused her to blush accidentally. Am I right, Ms. Wu? They are foolish questions anyways, said Tiffany honestly, trying hard to concentrate on the pages instead of at the cool male next to her. They're not worth mentioning. You don't have to stay with me to keep me company. Nutrition is not long so you should go to your group. I'm too lazy, said Faith, peering at her. Faith combed through his hair quickly. You may ask me anything you like. You are the leader of the Asian Gossip Girls right? You must be dying to know how my lifestyle works. Even though Tiffany tried to write about the splitting up of JinRinBo, she kept glancing at Faith who either had his eyes on her or the girls on the courts. Inwardly, Tiffany wondered why Faith would admire someone like Jezebelle. What was so great about Jezebelle? Tiffany sighed and gave up at last. How different are the boys' restroom compared to the girls'? I don't know, said Faith, chuckling. I've never been to the girls' restroom. I was kidding, said Tiffany quickly, blushing now. How do you change- In the boys' locker room? asked Faith for Tiffany. The Chinese girl frowned, but nodded nevertheless. I change in front of my locker like every other guy in the building. Don't girls do that too? But, said Tiffany, dumbstruck. How does that work? Faith pointed at his chest. You mean this? Yes, I mean that, said Tiffany quickly, uncomfortable. First of all, I should make this clear, said Faith, pulling down his shirt for Tiffany to see. Much to her surprise, she didn't see a bra like she expected. I don't wear a bra. I've never worn one in my life. I hate it. It's the shittiest piece of clothing I have ever seen. I don't even know why you ladies succumb to something like that. You wear an undershirt, said Tiffany, astounded. At last, Tiffany tore her eyes away from Faith's chest. That sounds so comfortable...

It is, said Faith, smirking. You should try it sometime. I can't... Oh right, said Faith, giving Tiffany a teasing look. You actually have boobs. They're attractive no? I've always been fascinated by them. Tiffany accidentally glanced down and flushed bright red. I don't know why girls like them so much but I know why guys do. I'm so curious. Do girls actually like them? Aren't they in the way most of the time? I suppose, said Tiffany, not sure what to say. So you only want them because they attract guys? I don't know, said Tiffany, returning her attention to her notebook. Moving on, said Faith, laughing at Tiffany. I change like any other guy. You wear boxers? asked Tiffany, picking up the courage to ask her questions. I do, said Faith, snapping his fingers. You want to see? No thank you, said Tiffany quickly, glancing at Faith's pants once. Faith smirked at Tiffany for his silence. Any more questions Ms. Wu? Do you think like a man? asked Tiffany quietly, giving up on her writing. I am a man, said Faith without a doubt. What do guys like in a girl? asked Tiffany quietly. Faith was surprised at her question. Embarrassed, Tiffany shook her head. Never mind. You're asexual. You wouldn't know. I shouldn't have asked such a dumb question. Looks, said Faith automatically, shocking Tiffany. I should have known, said Tiffany, a bit disappointed. You're not bad-looking, said Faith, smiling charmingly at her. Tiffany lifted a brow. I should know. You're pretty by our standards. If you're looking for a boyfriend, you shouldn't have a problem, Ms. Wu. I am not looking, said Tiffany through gritted teeth. Strange question to ask for someone who is 'not looking'. It was out of curiosity. Faith nodded, pretending to agree. Looks come first but over time, it

doesn't matter as much. Oh, said Tiffany, picking up her head at his words. Are you sure? Positive, said Faith confidently. Familiarity breeds attraction. I see, said Tiffany, smiling to herself now. She hugged her notebook and closed her eyes. Why don't I have any luck then? If you like someone and he doesn't like you back, said Faith, as if reading Tiffany's mind. She especially paid attention to him now. Don't give up. I am sure he will like you eventually if you persevere. Us guys are easily swayed. We're not like girls who label boys in separate categories. I'm not sure if I can trust your words, Faith, said Tiffany slowly. Good decision, said Faith, standing up now. He winked at Tiffany. I learn all this from observation alone. I have no experience whatsoever. I'll catch you later. I just remember I need to see my counselor about my money situation. Wait, said Tiffany, stopping Faith from walking down too far. You don't even know her name. Who? asked Faith, lost. Tiffany indicated at the tennis courts. Don't you want to know her name? The girl you admire? The girl you want to be more like? I know her name and more. Faith thought about it. Sure. I'll love to know her name. Will you go talk to her? asked Tiffany hopefully. We'll see, said Faith, clasping his hands behind his back and smiling playfully. What's her name? She must have a really pretty name. Her name is Jezebelle Tilly, said Tiffany immediately. That's a pretty dark name for such a girl, said Faith, thinking. Then, he waved at Tiffany over his shoulder carelessly. Thanks for the info, Ms. Wu. If you ever need a boyfriend, call me. I have a couple of friends who are single. We're cool? Tiffany didn't say anything. Catch you later then. Tiffany waited until Faith was out of earshot before she said, He's definitely a guy. ***************************************************

Sid! Stop being so fucking lame! Everyone turned their heads to Eugene who was holding a Frisbee and glaring at Sidney, who was sitting on the ground instead. Before Sherry and Rin arrived, Eugene and Sidney were passing the Frisbee to each other along with a couple of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Frisbee Club was held in the same area every Wednesday during lunchtime. However, for the members that were addicted to the sport, they came during nutrition to play every day. Right now, Eugene was annoyed that his partner decided to stop playing to hang out with his girlfriend instead. How was your first and second period, Sherry cherry? asked Sidney, gazing into Sherry's face while she was sitting on his lap. Good, said Sherry, beaming. Good, said Sidney, repeating her line. Ready to kill Sidney, Eugene came rushing over, only to be held into the air by Bo. Grim and David managed to stand in Eugene's way as well just in case Eugene escaped Bo's incredibly strong arms. The Korean boys tried to talk reason to Eugene about how this had been going on for a week now but Eugene was still as stubborn as ever in trying to attack his best friend for ditching Frisbee. What did you have for breakfast? asked Sidney casually, rubbing Sherry's shoulders with his hands. Rice, said Sherry, thinking. We had some power bars during our hike too. Oh, that's right, said Sidney, remembering about their usual morning hike. I'm still very sorry about not bringing enough water today, Sherry pie. It's okay, said Sherry, removing her bouncy braids backwards. Sidney caught them and played with them instead. We get to share a water bottle instead. Eugene! Both Sherry and Sidney stopped talking and glanced over to see a flying Frisbee in the air. Eugene was stomping off stubbornly off the field. Bo watched the Frisbee with his hand hovering over his eyes and a grin across his face. Grim pushed his glasses up and shook his head. David merely groaned. According to my calculations, said Grim in a matter-of-fact voice. That Frisbee is going over the fence and into the street. The boys waited for a few seconds until Bo said, Grim is correct again.

Wait a second, said Sidney, helping Sherry off him and standing up quickly. Wasn't that my Frisbee? This is what happens when you have both a boyfriend and a girlfriend, Sid, said Grim with an amusing smile on his face. David groaned again. Bo muttered something about being lucky. It's perfectly fine since that Frisbee didn't cost much anyways. I like that Frisbee, said Sidney, frowning. Be right back guys. What are you going to do? asked David, watching Sidney run off toward the direction of where his Frisbee should have landed. Jump the fence, said Sidney over his shoulder. I like jumping things, said Bo, grinning. Let me help you, Sidney. No, I can get it myself, said Sidney quickly, shaking his head from a distance. He almost reached the fence. Can you guys look for Eugene instead? Thanks for the help. He always asks us for favors without asking for our opinion first, said David, shaking his head and leaving the area to find Eugene. Grim stopped Bo from following David and him. Your friends are here. You should talk to them instead, Bo. Have fun and welcome back. At those words, Bo widened his grin and turned to where Rin stood by herself. Rin didn't know what to do so she decided to separate herself from everyone. As for Jin, he was occupying himself with his DS. Bo noticed that Jin sat to the far left with the Korean Posse while Rin stood to the far right with the Button Cuties. Friends eh? asked Bo, coming up to Rin. Yo. Hello, said Rin shyly, glancing away. My name is Bo Sungwoo, said Bo, picking up Rin's hand. What's yours? Stop playing around, said Rin in a quiet voice. Bo pressed his lips lightly against the back of Rin's hand. My Bo senses tell me that your name is Rin-chan. Bo, said Rin, frowning. I am not going to fight with you. I wonder, said Bo, leaving Rin's side and crouching down next to Jin now. He was enjoying this. Yo. What is a Popular doing here?

Jin paled slightly. Wasting time. You see that girl over there? asked Bo, leaning over Jin's ear and indicating at Rin who was staring at them. Jin followed Bo's gaze at Rin, who quickly glanced away. Why don't you talk to her? She seems to be interested in talking to you. Jin didn't say anything and kept his eyes on his DS. It didn't anger Bo though. Oh, I get it! A Popular can't talk to people like us but that's fine because we wouldn't want to talk to the new Jin anyway. Bo, said Jin in a low voice. What are you trying to do? Are you really trying to play the selfless hero to the end? asked Bo under his breath. Jin blinked in surprise at Bo's sudden serious words. First, you make yourself look like the bad guy and then, you play the role to the end. I didn't think Jin Song was so conniving but what do I know? I am just the third wheel. Do you hate me that much Bo? asked Jin sadly. Not unless you give me a reason to, said Bo, grinning again. Bo stood up now and pulled Jin up to his feet easily. You should at least say hi. The old Jin I know would have not only said hi but he would have done everything to help as well. Jin frowned and went over to Rin's side with Bo. Hey Rin-chan. Hello, said Rin, keeping her eyes on the ground. How are you? Er, okay, said Jin, scratching his head. You? I'm fine, said Rin quietly, sighing. Nothing much. Same here... said Jin awkwardly. This is... odd... Jin tried to smile even though Rin refused to look at him. We always have so much to say but I guess not... Rin wanted to leave. Yeah... JinRinBo together again, said Lydia, coming up to Rin. Bo and Jin took a couple of steps backward for the half-Indian girl with a bright smile. It's fate is it not? The three of them didn't say anything. Lydia beamed at Rin. Sherry told me about you Rin. I'm perfectly fine with you joining our group. You know the others of our group right? No, I actually don't, said Rin, regaining her confidence. I'm not really into school gossip so I have no idea who belongs in what group except, Rin glanced at Jin once. The Populars and the Killers but everyone knows them.

Right, said Lydia, pulling Rin away from Jin and Bo and to where the girls were sitting next to each other on the grass. Sorry Bo and Jin but I need to borrow her for a few minutes. Without hearing their response, Lydia showed Rin off to the other girls. Guys, let's all welcome Rin Hamada to our group. Luckily for Rin, she knew all of them since the girls in the Button Cuties were part of the junior class like her. Sherry Lee, who introduced Rin to the group in the first place and was on the same science team, sat all the way to the left. Right next to Sherry was none other than Felicia Haag, a Scottish girl who shared Rin's AP Physics C class. Felicia always wore dark formal clothes along with black-rimmed sunglasses. She was known for her freckles and glowing smile. The last person besides Lydia, was a French girl named Odette Cher Dixie, who shared none of Rin's classes this year or any other year. Odette had golden curls under a dark beret and wore a long skirt. Right now, she had her legs tugged up against her chest with her hand on her cell phone, texting. Odette, said Rin accidentally out loud. Odette didn't remove her eyes or hands off her cell phone as she said, Welcome. Odette, you're being rude, said Lydia in exasperation. At last, Odette glanced at Rin once. Oh, it's you. You guys don't like each other? asked Sherry worriedly, frowning. No, said Odette in an impatient voice. She returned to texting. We've only met several times. We never had a class together, said Rin nervously, feeling a bit cold. Then how do you guys know each other? asked Lydia, trying hard to sound cheerful and starting small talk. This turned out to be a bad question since Rin paled slightly and Odette giggled under her breath. Now, I feel left out. Explain please? Suddenly, Felicia bent over to Odette and poked her in the shoulder. Hey Odette, said Felicia lazily, blinking her long eyelashes. Isn't Kristian Shiratori your ex? Oh, said Sherry and Lydia in unison, understanding completely. I shouldn't be here, said Rin quickly. No, stay, said Odette, smiling cutely at Rin now. I've always wanted to talk to you in person, Rin Hamada. Odette petted the spot next to her. Rin accepted the invitation and sat down, feeling uneasy. Welcome to the group. You fit the requirements at least. Odette widened her smile, revealing dimples.

Rin felt a sudden pang of jealousy at the sight. You're taken. You're cute. You're an honor student. How can I not welcome you? Rin sensed sarcasm. I didn't know there are requirements to get in this group. Sherry didn't tell you? asked Odette, feigning surprise. I should have known. Stop it, Odette, said Lydia, sitting down on Rin's other side and shaking her head. I know it must be tough to be in the same group as someone who is currently dating your old boyfriend but you don't have to be so- Since we're on the subject of my old boyfriend, said Odette, interrupting Lydia completely. She glanced at Rin once before she started typing more messages on her cell phone. I'll like to say that you don't fit him, Rin Hamada. You're not his type. Odette! cried Sherry, upset now. Felicia placed a hand on Sherry's arm. You know how she is, Sherry. Let her finish. What do you mean I'm not his type? asked Rin, narrowing her eyes dangerously now. Even though Rin rarely picked fights with strangers, she didn't like being bullied either. Can you at least explain your words please? Cat fight, said Bo, whispering to Jin, who stared blankly at the situation. This is getting better than I expected. Jin frowned. Rin-chan... You are different than every girl he ever dated, said Odette, shrugging. I'm sure he's just dating you out of pity since you're a nerd and you're really pitiful. No one wants to date you because not only are you a nerd, you have a scary bodyguard who is always protecting you. Oops. Odette smiled cutely again. I mean, your ex-bodyguard. Rin Hamada, said Lydia, standing up now. You want to get some chips? I'll buy you some chips. Come with me to the vending machine. No, said Rin, never removing her eyes on Odette. I want to hear what she has to say. Stubbornly, Rin continued to Odette now. Please continue. Sherry exchanged a worried glance at Lydia, who sat down and shook her head. As for Felicia, she continued to eat her pudding and lick her spoon with a bright smile on her face. However, she kept glancing at Rin and Odette, not missing a single word spoken from either side. She seemed to enjoy the drama.

He's probably going for something new, said Odette, sending yet another text message. He wants to see what it's like to date a nerd like yourself. He's only interested in you because you're exciting. Once he grows bored of you, he'll dump you like the rest of us. Odette giggled and pouted. I'm not your enemy or your rival, Rin Hamada. I am only saying what I see and what I know. I don't want you to get hurt, that's all. I hope you're not feeling offended or anything. Odette, said Sherry happily, grabbing the French girl's arm. Let's go see where Sidney is. He's been gone for an awfully long time. He's your boyfriend, not mine, said Odette in distaste. She placed her cell phone on her backpack and gave her full attention to Rin now. I know Jordan says you two are perfect for each other and whatnot, but I don't agree. Things will never work out between you two. You're always fighting with him, even when I was with him. I bet you guys haven't even been intimate with each other. Rin didn't say anything at those words. I don't even need to be there to know I'm right. Why don't you save the rest us a favor and just let this one go? You're smarter than that, Valedictorian. Are you saying this out of concern or jealousy? asked Rin, lifting a brow. Lydia and Sherry widened their eyes at Rin's single line. Felicia finished her pudding and gaped at the two with her round eyes. At the question, Odette simply giggled and went back to her texting. She seemed to be typing faster than before. Whichever suits you, said Odette, amused. Before Rin could say anything, both Lydia and Sherry pulled Rin up by the arms and dragged her away. Jin frowned at the sight of the three girls disappearing behind the nearest building and replaced Rin by sitting next to Odette. As for Bo, he simply grinned and followed the other three. Odette, I know it's none of my business, said Jin slowly, crouching down next to her and Felicia. You're here so you're going to make it your business anyway, said Odette mercilessly. She twirled her curls. Say what you want, Jin Song. Did you know that Kristian actually likes Rin-chan? asked Jin with a determined look on his face. At the question, Odette simply giggled and pressed the button to send another text. Of course I do. You must be blind not to see it. Confused, Jin stuttered, Then why did you... Because, said Odette, showing her cell phone to Jin. Jin was surprised

at the message she was typing now. I would dump my current boyfriend for Kristian. Meanwhile on the other side of the building, Lydia and Sherry talked at once to apologize to Rin about Odette's behavior. According to Sherry, Odette was not always like that but she could be like that at times. According to Lydia, Odette was simply jealous that Rin was Kristian's current girlfriend. In the end, Rin shook her head. No, I'm fine with her, said Rin with a soft smile. You are? asked Lydia and Sherry in unison. Rin nodded firmly. She's like someone I know... someone who I judged too harshly at first... anyways, I'm fine with her saying things as it is. I don't like people who lie to me anyways. I can understand where she's coming from. You're mature, Rin Hamada, said Lydia with wide eyes. This isn't the Rin Hamada I know from last year, said Sherry, tilting her head. I'm not mature, said Rin quickly, a bit embarrassed from the praise. I just don't want to start a fight with her over something trivial. She is purposely provoking me and I won't fall for it. I'm better than that. Sherry and Lydia grabbed each other's hand and dropped their jaws. Wow. What? asked Rin curiously. Just... said Sherry, unsure. Nothing. Yo, said Bo, waving at the girls. Sherry caught on and quickly rushed off with Lydia, leaving Rin alone with Bo. Sorry, Rin-chan. I overheard. You were trying to protect me again weren't you? asked Rin suspiciously. No, no, said Bo, shaking his head. I was walking in this direction, that's all. I see. Bo threw a thumb over his shoulder where Lydia and Sherry hurried off. When are you able to say things like that? I don't know myself, said Rin admittedly, sighing.

You always love to fight though, said Bo, grinning. This is a strange change. It must be because Jin and I aren't with you anymore. Bo, said Rin, lifting her eyes up at him. I'm an awful person because, Rin shook and dropped her eyes again. I don't want Jin to be happy. He looks so content right now. It frustrates me so much. I hate it. Why do I feel like this? Bo blinked at her words. Oh. I get it now. Get what? You're only like this with Jin and I, said Bo, rubbing Rin on the head. And Kristian and Vance. Bo shook his head. Those girls, you don't know them that well so you don't act like your usual self. I wonder if it's true that you're nicer to people you don't know than people you actually do... Maybe, Bo gasped. You like fighting with people you like? That's impossible, said Rin immediately. You are not an awful person, said Bo suddenly, removing his hand from her head. I hate him too. Rin blinked in surprise and looked straight up at Bo like she had never seen him before. I hate Jin because he is always easygoing about everything. Everyone likes him. He can do what he wants and everyone will still like him. Bo chuckled. Even though I say I hate him, I can't really hate him. Isn't that funny? Rin frowned. You're right. Jin can join any group and he'll fit in easily. But for me- And me, said Bo quickly. Right, said Rin, nodding. It's hard. It's so very hard. I should be happy for him too, said Bo, rubbing his chin in thought. I should be happy that Jin is able to get along with others. I should be happy that he is popular now along with his new group. I want to be happy for him but I can't. It's just unfair. Bo paused and lowered his voice. He always have a winwin situation. Maybe it's magic, said Rin suddenly. Bo glanced at her. Suddenly, Rin started laughing, out of sadness. Yes! That must be it! It must be magic! Doesn't magic exist in those video games he plays? Yeah, said Bo, laughing hopelessly as well. Jin has become a mage and cast immune spells on himself so that he doesn't get shit from other people like us. Lucky bastard, said Rin, amused.

Seriously, said Bo, looking down at Rin and grinning genuinely. How are you doing? How are you and Kristian doing? I know it's only been one day but I'm already concerned about you Rin-chan. It's a bad habit. Rin shook her head and walked off with Bo next to her. I'm jealous. Jealous? Is it wrong for me to want to have dimples? ************************************************ Hurrying to third period, Jin collapsed in the chair next to Jordan. The white boy wasn't asleep on his desk for once. Instead, he was writing something in his notebook. Before Jin could see what Jordan was writing, the bell rung and Jordan snapped his notebook shut. Mrs. Wang went up to the board to start teaching. Hey, said Jordan, tossing Jin a smile. Hey Jordan, said Jin, nodding in greeting. How did it go with your group? Lousy, said Jordan, laughing. He laid his head on the desk with his backpack in front of him, blocking the board. This class is so boring without Kristian to make fun of Mrs. Wang. Jin blinked and looked around. Where is Kristian anyway? He switched classes, said Jordan, yawning. How did he manage that? asked Jin, surprised. He has connections with the principal apparently, said Jordan, laughing under his breath. He's been sent to the principal's office so many times after all. They must be great buddies by now. Who would have thought? The class clown and our principal? Why did he switch classes? asked Jin, turning on his DS with the sound off. Jordan shrugged. He went to a higher math class. Calc BC? Yup, said Jordan, playing with his pencil on top of his desk. Apparently, he's really smart. He made this bet with the math department and well, he aced one of the sample Calculus AB's AP exams and they move him to a higher math class.

I wonder why he did that, said Jin, frowning. He hates studying. I hear from Eunice that, said Jordan, moving his head on the desk closer to Jin's. He did it to be in the same math class as his girlfriend. Rin-chan? asked Jin in complete surprise. Bingo, said Jordan, throwing the pencil up to hit the ceiling. Jordan managed to catch it easily before Mrs. Wang turned around at the noise. Why would he go out of his way to be with her? He didn't give a crap about any of his previous ones. Kristian likes Rin-chan, said Jin in a straight-forward manner. That's not how it's supposed to be, said Jordan through gritted teeth. Jin urged Jordan to continue on. If I can't go out with a smart girl, he shouldn't be allowed to either. We're both the same. I don't get it. Is this another one of his pranks? He's going out with Rin-chan because he wants to, said Jin, offended. Whatever you say, said Jordan, laying his head back against the chair now. He had his pencil on top of his nose to balance. Things like this are not supposed to happen. He is breaking the rules. Jordan's eyes hardened. If I can't talk to you for the past two years, he shouldn't be allowed to date someone like Nerd. Then, why did you help me? asked Jin, upset. Jordan blinked and took the pencil off his nose. Because you agreed to join the Populars. That is my one and only reason. You're lying, said Jin, shaking slightly. You want to help them. No, I don't, said Jordan, sitting up straight and giving Jin a disbelief look. Why would I want to help them? Give me a good reason. Jin lowered his eyes. I... believe you actually care. Is that fact or opinion, Jin? Both, said Jin, biting his lip. Even though we're never supposed to speak to one another, you always manage to talk to me when no one is looking. You are my closest friend on the tennis team. I know we're not friends in name until now, but we've been friends since freshman year. We've been friends before you become popular. Jordan gawked at Jin for a few seconds. So what?

Er... Does it matter what I think? asked Jordan, smiling. It's what everyone else think that matters. No, it isn't, said Jin insistently. You don't understand at all, Jin, said Jordan, shaking his head. I live in a different world than you. You and your friends may do your own thing but it doesn't work like that for the rest of us. If the whole school thinks I'm insane, I must be insane. If the whole school thinks I'm stupid, I must be stupid. If the whole school thinks I'm handsome and a social butterfly, I must be it. They can't all be wrong right? Jordan... I hate math, said Jordan, yawning. I'll be off to Slumberland now. Night Jin. Do you hate math because everyone says you hate math or because you really do? At Jin's question, Jordan opened one eye. Does it matter? Monika tells you that I'm not allowed in the group and yet, you fight for me, said Jin in a hurt voice. Why don't you go with what everyone else think? Why don't you kick me out of the group? You can just tell the whole school to reverse the affect on Rin-chan and Kristian's relationship. Isn't that how it is 'supposed to be'? Why? asked Jordan more to himself than Jin. He closed his eye and moved his head the other direction, away from Jin. Because you're my first real friend. Jin was speechless and unconsciously glanced over at his old seat. Grim was there now, chatting with Bo about Asian girls. Feeling lonely, Jin kept his eyes on Jordan's blonde hair and thought of what Jordan said. More and more, Jin was starting to understand. Jordan had always been his friend since the first day of freshman year but they could never admit their friendship in front of others. It just wasn't done. Worst, Jin never made a real effort to change this either. That was why Jin decided to make up for all the lost time with Jordan, starting today. Even though Mrs. Wang's boring voice rung loudly through the classroom, Jin didn't hear anything but Jordan's words and his plan for their future. ************************************** Feeling a sensation on her side, Rin lowered her eyes to find Kristian

playfully poking her underneath the desk. He was sitting next to her in math class and pretending to sleep when in actuality, he was playing a video game under his desk. Rin pouted and poked him back. Much to her surprise, Kristian jumped at her attack. Before they could start an all-out war, the bell rang. You're ticklish, said Rin, gasping. No, said Kristian, frowning. The great Shiratori-sama is not ticklish. Oh really? asked Rin, smiling deviously. Kristian quickly picked up the backpack he never opened in the first place. Later Rin-chan. You have fun at your club. I'm probably going to skip fifth and sixth so I'll see you after detention is over. I'll still take you home as usual. Wait a second, cried Rin, amazed at Kristian. The Japanese boy stopped in his escape. Stuffing her backpack with her binder and notebook, Rin heaved her backpack over her shoulder. Didn't you promise me you'll spend lunch with me? If I recall correctly, said Kristian, lifting a suspicious brow at her. You're busy with club activities today. Rin reddened and shyly played with her hands. I don't want to go today. It's nothing important anyways. Okay... said Kristian, pretending to not see through Rin's obvious lie. My tiger has suddenly changed into a kitten? Rin lifted a brow in which Kristian responded by leaning toward her. Where do you want to go? Anywhere. Blinking, Kristian straightened his posture. Anywhere? What if I take you outside of the school? I know many ways to escape this place without getting caught. I don't mind, said Rin, hugging her math book to her chest with red cheeks. I'm not going to, said Kristian, making his decision quickly. He waved it off. Once I take you out of this school, I'll never bring you back and I'm going to get in trouble with your mother. Kristian smiled playfully at her. And Mr. Chan and he's the only teacher that likes me right now. How about that classroom from after school yesterday? asked Rin hopefully. Kristian backed from her, thinking. The one next to the detention room?

Kristian gaped at her. Just the two of us? Is there something wrong with that? I can ask Roselle to come along since she wants to skip practice again, said Kristian, thinking of his new member already. The disappointment on Rin's face was noticeable at his suggestion. Or not... Lunging at Kristian, Rin grabbed a hold of his arm. Let's go then. Only us two. I never knew you're so aggressive, Rin-chan, said Kristian, watching her drag him outside the classroom and out into the hallway. But I must remind you who is in dominant one in this relationship and- It's obviously me, said Rin, throwing Kristian a smile backwards. No, you shouldn't disillusion yourself like that Rin-chan. Stopping in her tracks, Rin looked at Kristian. The one who is seeing things is you. Ouch, said Kristian, licking his lips. But still, who knew you wanted to move things fast. I didn't even try any of my seducing skills yet. Rin glared at him. I want to talk to you about something in private! Oh, said Kristian, obviously sad at the news. That's boring. It's never what I want to do is it? The word boring brought tears to Rin's eyes. Kristian had no idea what he did wrong so he went up to her and asked why she was like this. I was joking Rin-chan. We can do whatever you want anytime you want as long as you don't cry okay? Odette was right, said Rin, mumbling to herself. I am boring. What? asked Kristian, astounded at her words. Why would Odette say something like that? You're not boring at all. Kristian rubbed the tears on her cheeks away with his thumb. Come now. You know you will need to clean your face up afterwards. There's no need to cry. Bo said that, said Rin, choking back her feelings. Kristian had no idea what to do so he opened the door to the classroom quickly and pushed her inside. It was completely dark. He said that I'm nicer to strangers and meaner to my friends... The voice of truth, said Kristian, shaking his head. That man is a genius. You're not supposed to agree with him! Stop being mean to me because you like me so much, said Kristian,

making a puppy face at Rin, who hit him on the head. Exactly. Stop that. Rin sighed and sat down in a chair. After today, I realize that I should really stop permanently. Kristian grabbed a chair and pulled as close to Rin as physically possible for two chairs side by side. I don't want to be seen as a mean person to my friends. But we're used to it... You like us fighting all the time? asked Rin, astonished. No, well, yes, said Kristian, divided. He searched for the answer with a frown on his face. I don't really care. I find it fun most of the time anyways because, Kristian smirked. I always win anyways. That's not true! Okay then, said Kristian, pushing his face close to hers. Name one time you have successfully beat me in an argument. At the challenge, Rin made a face. She searched through the depths of her mind for that one time in which she won against him in a debate. She frowned. She smacked her head. She wanted to pull her hair. Kristian tried hard not to laugh at how hard it was for her to remember. It doesn't exist does it? asked Kristian in a sweet voice. Shut up, said Rin, scowling. It does... somewhere. Though, said Kristian, changing to a serious expression. I have met my match. Rin's eyes widened. Who can it be? Sighing, Kristian waved it off. I don't want to talk about it. Tell me, said Rin, shaking his arm. Who is it? Do I know him or her? She's my English project partner and the new member of my group, said Kristian in a tone like he had something in his mouth. Roselle? asked Rin, laughing. Kristian didn't say anything. I'm so glad I recommend her to join your group then! By this rate, maybe you'll be less arrogant this way. I told you before, said Kristian, frowning and snatching Rin's hand. I'm not arrogant. I'm confident. Last time I checked, that is a good thing. Rin blushed. Like Caramel.

Who? Nothing, said Rin, flushing bright red and shaking her head. Anyways, I want to ask you about something. You must promise me that you will take this seriously and answer me honestly. This is an important matter. Uh-oh, said Kristian, backing away. I swear I didn't show your picture to anyone, Kristian paused and smiled innocently. Except Cory, Gary, and some of the boys in detention the other day. Rin dropped her head. Must. Refrain. From. Drowning. You. What is it Rin-chan? asked Kristian, giving her the most charming smile possible. Why did you... Did I what? Why did you dump Odette? asked Rin firmly, relieved at asking the question. Kristian's eyes widened. Wow. I did not see that coming. Answer me honestly, said Rin, dropping her eyes. I need to know. Before I answer your question, said Kristian, gazing intently into Rin's eyes. I want you to know that I'll never ever dump you. Rin felt her heart skip a beat. I'll never leave you alone. You'll need to dump me first for me to let you go. Rin tried hard to stay composed. D-Do you say that to every girl you've dated before? It sounds scripted. Maybe, said Kristian, leaning back in his chair now. They lost eye contact, much to Rin's disappointment. But I mean it this time. I actually do have feelings for you so I'm not saying this to win you over or anything. Even if I try, it's meaningless. You're too stubborn for that. I bet even if I write your name in the sky, you won't be affected. I'm only saying it to make myself happy. Sitting closer to Kristian, Rin laid her head on his shoulder. For some reason, I didn't find your words insulting at all. It actually made me really happy. I'm glad, said Kristian in a low voice. Then, he smiled and raised his voice again. The reason why I left Odette is because like every other girl, she changes into a bitch once we have sex the first time. Every girl I've dated has been the same. Rin gaped at his words. I spoil them to death. They become

clingy and jealous. They want more of me than I can give. It's the same shit over and over. But why do I do it? Kristian laughed and shrugged. I like innocent lambs and I like sex. At least you're honest, said Rin, pouting. I hate women but I can't live without them so what can I do about it? I feel the same way about guys, said Rin, lifting her head up and thinking. This is the first time I'm dating a girl who knows the real me, said Kristian, throwing his head back and looking up at the ceiling. We've known each other since freshman year. We're always fighting because we end up in many classes together. You always try so hard to study and I always try so hard to disrupt class. I don't even know what took over me to ask you out that day. Why did you ask me? asked Rin timidly. It sort of slipped, said Kristian bluntly, running his fingers through his dark hair. All I remember is that in that band room, you went on and on about how much you hate me. Before, we always fight but we never had a meaningful conversation like that one. You pour your heart out to me for whatever reason and I was completely affected by your tears. I look at your face and I realize that, Kristian chuckled once. I want you. I see... I always have fun arguing with you but I don't know much about this other side of yours, said Kristian thoughtfully. The Rin-chan that appear out of nowhere in that band room. I want to see her every day and I want to make her happy. That's what I thought. Stop it, Kristian, said Rin, looking at the ground. I didn't think you would agree to date me and accept me for who I am though, said Kristian quickly. That was a bonus. Kristian, said Rin, pouting at him now. Kristian paused and listened for the first time. You completely jump topics! You went from Odette to us somehow! I guess I suddenly have the urge to have a meaningful conversation with you, Rin-chan, if that's okay with you, said Kristian, sitting up straight and smiling playfully. Anyways, you shouldn't be jealous of Odette. You're way better than she. She's cute and she has nice legs but I don't need any of that. She also has dimples, said Rin under her breath.

What's that Rin-chan? Nothing, said Rin in an innocent voice. Why did you talk to Odette anyways? asked Kristian curiously, blinking. I'm in the same group as her. The Button Cuties? Why do you know everything? I have connections, said Kristian, winking. I ask Eunice. That's nice, said Rin, uncertain. You're going to have a shitty time trying to fit in a group like that, said Kristian, nodding. If you need help me, text me. Even in class, I have my cell phone on just in case. Of course you'll only need to do that for one class period but it's better safe than sorry. I can take care of things by myself, said Rin firmly. I don't need you to take care of me all the time, Kristian. Good luck trying to fit in with Odette in that group, said Kristian, shrugging. Even though Rin really wanted Kristian to stick by her side and offer his help again even after her denial, he did the complete opposite. This disappointed Rin that he didn't try again for her sake. However, she couldn't show it on her face. Kristian was the master at reading her mood from her facial expressions. Rin didn't know why she always deny things even when she didn't want to. It was a horrible reflex that she wanted to change. Hey Rin-chan, said Kristian, smirking. I'm going to get back Roselle. Why? asked Rin, breaking from her thoughts. She thinks she can make a fool of me, said Kristian, rubbing his hands together with an evil smile on his face. She's been kicking me around constantly. She's been calling me names and attacking me verbally and physically without warning. It makes me look like a wuss in front of everybody. Even though I can't hit her back, I can hit someone else. What do you mean? asked Rin, worried now. Kristian cracked his knuckles. Cory is going to get it. The more Roselle abuse me, the more I'll abuse Cory. She's going to watch me torture Cory in front of her. She'll have to listen to me eventually and respect me as her leader.

I'm tempted to draw a manga now, said Rin suddenly. The fuck? A yaoi manga, said Rin, pumped up. I suddenly have inspiration thanks to your plan about torturing Cory to get back at Roselle. That's great? asked Kristian at a loss for words. He shook his head at the weird mental image and continued. Is that all you want to talk to me about Rinchan? Yes, said Rin, satisfied. She stood up and picked up her backpack. I'm going to go to my club now. There are still a couple of minutes left so I want to see what I miss. Kristian watched as Rin ran out and slammed the door shut. What the fuck? Kristian licked his lips and laid his head down on a nearby desk. I let her totally use me again. Then again, Kristian remembered the conversation he had with Rin in the nurse's office. I offered it to her. Kristian slammed a fist on the table. What the hell? I'm not supposed to be subservient to her! Kristian picked his head up and thought about it. Now that I think about it, she was talking about Odette. Maybe she's jealous? Kristian, said Rin, opening the door and poking her head back in again. Kristian jumped up straight and beamed at her. You want to come to my music club? You should show them how musically talented you are. I was going to go do something but, said Kristian, sprinting over to Rin's side. Why not? Did you know that I can play a piano piece after hearing it once too? Liar. You're not Mozart. You don't have instant recall. Wow, did you just call me Mozart? What a nice compliment Rin-chan! Kristian offered his arm to Rin to hold on. Without protest, she did just that. Though I prefer to be called Liszt. I heard that bastard's a pimp. He had a lady in every town. How do you know so much about composers Kristian? demanded Rin. Kristian laughed it off and checked his cell phone. Look at the time Rinchan. Let's hurry so I have enough time to pimp my musical talent to your club. The two passed by Faith, who waved after them. Rin and Kristian greeted him in unison before they continued on their way. Even though Rin walked on as quickly as usual, Kristian paused and forced her to stop. He watched as Eunice and Jennifer stalked Faith down the hallway by keeping a few feet of distance. Smirking, Kristian laughed.

What's so funny? asked Rin, arching a brow. Nothing, said Kristian, shaking his head. He glanced over his shoulder to see that Jennifer and Eunice continued to follow Faith closely from behind without him noticing. I wonder if Tiffy Taffy knows about this! A gossip for the Asian Gossip Girls? Rin pouted. Stupid Kristian. ********************************** Stopping in front of the main office, Faith went inside. Jennifer and Eunice poked their heads in to see Faith smiling charmingly at the ladies working in the office. They gave him a piece of pink paper. Examining it quickly with his eyes, Faith nodded and placed it inside his backpack carefully. You go talk to him for me, said Jennifer, pouting and making a heart with her hands. Eunice shook her head, frightened. I really want to know what type of girl he likes. Please Eunie? But Tiff told you not to pursue him, said Eunice with watery eyes. She also told you not to chase after Kristian and look at what happen, said Jennifer stubbornly, moving her head to down the hall where they passed by Kristian and Rin earlier. He's dating Rin Hamada and they are inseparable. I don't want Tiff to be angry with me, said Eunice sadly. Tiff is stuck in unrequited love, said Jennifer, twirling her thumbs. She is happy to see him every day. We're not as lucky. We don't share any classes with them and we don't live near them either. That is why we should be more proactive and aggressive than Tiff! I don't know, said Eunice, still divided on the issue. I mean, look at him. He's too cool. The entire time we've been following him, boys and girls greet him with friendliness. Even if he is popular, I don't want to give up, said Jennifer, pounding her hand against her chest. My mind is made up! I want to at least try. Since you support Kristian and I, said Eunice, sighing and bobbing her head. I'll support you as well. We'll keep this a secret from Tiff though. Thank you Eunie! You are the best! Look, said Eunice, pointing at Faith. He was busy picking up other paperwork around the office and talking to the ladies in the office. He seems like a nice person too. How often is someone popular and nice? There are not a lot of Jin Songs in this school.

Go on Eunie, said Jennifer frantically. Talk to him for me. Please? You owe me, said Eunice, frightened. Still, she controlled her emotions and hopped over to Faith, who was now reviewing the bulletin. Hi! Shifting his attention over to Eunice, Faith gave a soft smile. Hey. What's up? Do you know who I am? asked Eunice, shaking nervously. now. Ms. Wu talked to me about you, said Faith, leaning against the wall

Eunice had sparkles in her eyes. She hadn't met a guy who acted this cool with body language alone. Everything about Faith made him manly in her eyes. Not only did Faith act cool, he looked cool too with dyed blue hair and dark clothes. This made Eunice curious as to why Faith didn't have gossip running wild about him for the past two years. How embarrassing, said Eunice, hugging herself. So, do you need something? asked Faith calmly. Eunice thought of an idea quickly. I am working for the Hitching Post. Cool. And I'm wondering if I can ask you a couple of questions. Faith tilted his head. Awesome. What is this for though? The swim team, said Eunice, lying immediately. Jennifer watched them with grateful eyes. I hear the swim team is doing well this year and that you might make it past the semi-finals for the first time in six years. You really are from the Hitching Post, said Faith as if he didn't believe her before. Eunice blushed since Jennifer was the one working for the Hitching Post, not she. We have two excellent, new swimmers on the team this year so we're hoping to make it past the semi-finals for once. We've been preparing for this all summer too. You're so devoted, said Eunice in awe. Swimming is fun, said Faith simply, grinning brightly. Eunice felt her heart beat faster, which was a usual reaction from her. If this is for the Hitching Post, shouldn't you interview the two new swimmers instead? I can give you their names if you like. I am planning to interview them later, said Eunice, smiling cutely. She

continued to bounce up and down on her heels. I want to interview you first since you've been on the team for four years and one of the best swimmers on the team. Even though I work my ass off for the team, said Faith, chuckling. I'm not even close to being one of the best swimmers. Modest too, said Eunice under her breath. Since you're here already, said Faith, sitting down at the available chairs in the office. Eunice nervously sat down in the seat next to him. Ask away. I'll answer all your questions to the best of my knowledge. Thank you very much! cried Eunice, hopping up and down on her seat. Faith smiled. No problem. So... said Eunice, blushing. She glanced once at Jennifer who urged her on. What type of girls do you like? At first, Faith was taken aback. But then, he thought about what Tiffany said from earlier. Slowly, Faith regained his composure and continued to smile in his cool way. He thought about it and nodded at his sudden idea. hair. I like girls that, said Faith, looking at Eunice's short hair. Have long Long hair, said Eunice, nodding firmly. I like girls that, said Faith, glancing down at Eunice's simple shirt and jeans. Are more feminine. Girls that wear skirts and dresses. Feminine girls, said Eunice, taking out a notepad and writing the info down. I like girls that are more reserved and quiet, said Faith, trying hard to describe someone who didn't fit the girl taking notes in front of him. I like girls that are more sensitive and elegant. Got it, said Eunice happily, beaming. What else? asked Faith, observing Eunice from top to bottom. I also like girls- The bell interrupted Faith mid-sentence. Eunice jumped and glanced up at the office clock. Indeed, it was the warning bell. Hurriedly, Eunice stood up, bowed several times, thanked Faith generously, and dashed away without another word. Faith gawked after her but then regained his composure and shook his head. Mrs. Peterson smiled at Faith. I thought you didn't have any preference

Faith. I don't, said Faith, turning around at Mrs. Peterson with a weak smile. I'm really horrible at saying no, that's all. Faith sighed and combed his spiky hair with his long fingers. She likes me you see but I can't really like her back. I'll just hurt her once she knows what I really am. But it's just so fucking hard to say no so I'll make sure to give her no chance of getting together with me. I feel bad for all the girls you've rejected indirectly before, Faith, said Mrs. Peterson with a frown. Faith shook his head again. I have no choice. Why did you pick this lifestyle then? asked Mrs. Peterson, interested. One reason, said Faith, holding up his index finger. Freedom. ************************************************** By the end of fifth period, Jin was completely exhausted. Today, they wrote an in-class essay that took the entire period. Glancing over to his side, Jin noticed that Jordan had been drawing a comic on his piece of paper. As for Kristian, he actually wrote the essay but he finished before anyone else and slept for the rest of the period. Jin wondered how he did since he was done before half of the period was over. As for his former best friend Rin, she was still working on hers, determined to make the best essay possible in the limited time she had. At last, the bell rang and most people ran out without looking back. Tennis at last, said Jin happily, standing up and stretching. His wrist was sore from the essay. I can't wait to see Fi. Somehow, I didn't see her all day today. How is your girlfriend Jin? asked Jordan as the two exited together. Jin noticed that Rin glanced in their direction once before she went up front to staple her papers. You two seem to be doing well. Yesterday, she made me do all the laundry at once, said Jin thoughtfully, thinking of last night. She also used all the hot water so I didn't get to take a warm bath. That's harsh, said Jordan, surprised. That's Fi for you, said Jin, shrugging. I deserved it though. I left her at school after tennis practice for too long so she got back at me by pretending to be kidnapped. Sounds fun, said Jordan, laughing. Let's hurry to the locker room before the swim team and the golf team get there.

Fortunately, Jin and Jordan arrived to the locker room before the swim team and the golf team. Unfortunately, the football team got there first and Alejandro was present. Jin and Jordan gulped and passed by the football team, hoping not to attract Alejandro. Bo noticed Jin and Jordan and quickly chatted with Alejandro to draw his attention away. What's up, big guy? asked Bo with a grin. Long time no see. You ditched practice yesterday, said Alejandro with a grunt. The other boys on the football team were so afraid of Alejandro that no one would dare stand within three feet of the male. Yet, Bo was making conversation with Alejandro right now. What you want? I had a stomachache, said Bo, still grinning. Suck it up, said Alejandro, pointing at Bo now. You and I. Everyone watched anxiously. Alejandro moved his finger to the locker. We're sharing a locker. All right, said Bo easily, walking up to the locker. May I have the combination? That's what Coach said, said Alejandro, smirking. Who said I'll actually share a locker with you? Fucking slacker. The irony, said Bo, shrugging and sitting down on the bench. You've been absent for football practice since the beginning of school but that's all right because we'll all forgive since you're the best player on the team. Special treatment is great isn't it? Bo's dead, said one of the others. They scattered away. On the other side of the lockers, Jin and Jordan were frozen as they eavesdropped on the conversation. Neither of them had any color left in their cheeks. Jin gulped. He wanted to walk over and save Bo from Alejandro's wraith but he was too scared at the moment. Without making a sound,Jordan pointed down the aisle, telling Jin to continue to their actual locker. Jin shook his head, wanting to listen on to the conversation. Sighing, Jordan didn't move either and stick to Jin's side. Suddenly, they heard a laugh. Shaking from top to bottom, Jin and Jordan leaned over to look at what was happening to Bo and Alejandro. The Mexican male managed to open his locker as Bo stood there, grinning as usual. Bo did not seem to receive any physical injury yet. Instead, Alejandro was laughing. I won't fuck around with you, said Alejandro, dumping the contents of his backpack into the locker forcefully. I'll rather mess with your girl. That's my specialty after all.

Not only were Jin and Jordan pale, Bo seemed to have lost some color in his face too. Jin and Jordan looked at each other, trying to think of something. Bo talked to Alejandro in the first place to save them. Recovering, Bo went up to Alejandro. Alas, I'm single, said Bo in a sorrowful tone. What's that midget's name? asked Alejandro more to himself than Bo. Suddenly, he grinned broadly. The Japanese girl... Hamada. At the mention of Rin's name, Jin was ready to come out into the open to talk to Alejandro when Jordan already went on ahead. Jordan went up to Alejandro and greeted the much taller male. The two punched hands for a second in greeting before Jordan smoothly pushed Bo away from Alejandro, almost protectively. girl. Let's not do that, Alejandro, said Jordan in a cool tone. She's Kristian's Alejandro narrowed his eyes at Jordan. The Hamada midget? The very one. Shiratori wouldn't go out with her, said Alejandro in a matter of fact voice. Suddenly, Alejandro noticed Jin to the side. Your girlfriend is hot by the way. Thanks, said Jin awkwardly. No, it's true, said Jordan insistently, amused at Alejandro's comment to Jin. I approve of Kristian and Nerd. I'm sure they are going out. Let's drop this for my sake okay? I'm sure we can work this out somehow without involving Kristian's girl. I don't think it's a good idea for any of us to get into a fight. Alejandro thought about it. At last, he slammed his locker shut, Whatever. I made a deal with Shiratori. I won't mess with him and since you asked, Jordan, I'll fuck off. You're lucky this time, slacker. On his way out, Alejandro managed to push Bo aside and into the nearest locker. Both Bo and Jin gawked at Jordan as he collapsed into the nearest bench. Worried, Jin went to Jordan's side and patted him on the back. Jordan waved it off and smiled. With an astonished face, Bo went up to Jordan as well. As expected of a Popular, said Bo with wide eyes. You have a lot of power. Hell no, said Jordan, shaking his head. Thank Kristian. It seems that Alejandro and Kristian struck some kind of deal so Alejandro won't be interfering with anything related to Kristian. All I did I was remind him of it.

Still, said Jin, almost too happy to speak. You saved Rin-chan without using violence, Jordan. You're amazing. I almost shit my pants though, said Jordan, hiding his face. He scares the crap out of me. I can't believe I did that. I would never talk to him face to face like that again. Thanks, Jordan, said Bo, grinning genuinely. You're all right. I'm sorry to cut our conversation short but, Bo threw a thumb over his shoulder. I need to talk to Coach about my locker situation. I can't share one with the Beast. No one has for the past two years. Good luck and thanks, Bo, said Jin gratefully. Watching Bo leave in a hurry, Jin and Jordan laughed in unison. This was their first time confronting the Beast together and they managed to make it through without any scratches. Relieved, Jordan continued to laugh even after Jin stopped. However, Jin frowned at Jordan, who asked him why with his eyes. Why did you risk your life for Rin-chan, Jordan? asked Jin curiously. I thought you hate her. You're always fighting with her and calling her 'Nerd'. I don't really hate her, said Jordan, amused. That's just how it is. Not again, said Jin, frowning. Can't you and her just get along? That's not possible, said Jordan, shaking his head and standing up. She's a nerd. I can't be friends with her. I can't even talk to her. That's not allowed. Everyone will make fun of me until graduation. I can't have that can I? Jordan... I really think you should... Jin, cried Jordan in a whiny voice. I'm sore. Give me a massage. Why should I give you a massage? asked Jin, distracted by the different topic. I just saved your best friend's life, said Jordan with a puppy look on his face. Fine, said Jin, amused. Jin placed his hands on Jordan's shoulder. One minute. That's fine. Look at the cute couple, said David in a teasing voice as he passed by where Jordan and Jin sat. Jin instantly broke away from Jordan, who stood up quickly. Patrick and Grim were right behind David. How long have you guys been

there? Coach is getting upset that you two suddenly go missing. Crap, said Jordan, running off. He'll make me run laps again! How did you guys get your stuff from your lockers so fast? asked Jin curiously, walking slowly by David's side. Grim told us about the other entrance, said David, pointing at another door. This one was a lot closer to the tennis boys' lockers. If we go through that entrance from the gym, we are able to dodge all the other teams, including the football and golf team. Now, you tell me, said Jin, dropping his head. We told everyone else but you two ran into the locker room so fast we didn't have a chance, said Patrick honestly. Then we come back for you two and find you guys sitting next to each other at the football team's aisle, said Grim, smirking. Interesting. Flushing bright red, Jin grumbled how the Koreans usually sat closer to each other without worrying. None of the Koreans denied this. Leaving them behind, Jin arrived to his locker where Jordan was throwing off his clothes in a hurry to change. Jin sighed and went up to Jordan to remove his tennis racket from the same locker. Stop changing in front of us, Jordan, said Patrick, annoyed. The others caught up. You make the rest of us look bad with your well-toned body! Well-toned body? asked Geoff from the other end of the aisle. He came back in because he forgot his racket and no one noticed him until now. Then, Geoff noticed Jordan in his boxers. Jordan, how are you? I forgot to greet you today! Get away from me! cried Jordan, running away in his boxers. I don't want a hug from you Geoff! Jin sighed in relief when Geoff passed by him and followed Jordan out the door. I'm safe from Geoff for today... ********************************************** Playing on his DS, Jin listened to Yvette screaming in the background at Joyce for dropping her racket for the third time during her challenge match against Jezebelle. Joyce was crying now, stuttering about how Jezebelle was so scary. In response, Yvette scolded her for being afraid of tennis balls when she was on the tennis team. Of course, once Yvette left Joyce alone, she ran and sat next to Jin, sobbing. With his eyes on his DS, Jin rubbed Joyce on the head. He was used to this by now.

Peanut butter sandwich, said Jezebelle, stomping over to Jin and dragging Joyce away. You can't save her! She's playing against me today! She's not allowed to leave until I beat her fair and square on the tennis court! Save me, Jin, said Joyce, trying to pull away from Jezebelle's grip. I'm sorry Joyce, said Jin under his breath. It's Fi. I can't oppose her... The fun never end for Jin as Yvette made her way over to him and order him to pick up the balls on the far left court. Since it was Yvette, Jin obeyed without hesitation and watched the match. It was none other than Sophronia and Lexi versus May and Mai. Much to Jin's surprise, the score was close. Doubles Two was winning by one game. Were Doubles Two and Doubles Three that evenly matched? The four girls were on break right now as Jin went by them to pick up balls. He managed to pick up a couple of lines of their conversation. May and Mai were silent as usual but Lexi continued to chat on and on to the understanding Sophronia. I can't wait to see him, said Lexi, releasing a sigh of pleasure. How do you know he's coming back to the country in a week? asked Sophronia curiously, uncapping her water bottle. I have insider information, said Lexi proudly, squealing. Caramel is my idol! I'll die happy if I get a glance at him at the airport! Caramel? asked Jin accidentally. The girls all looked at him at the same time. Jin flushed and thought about it. Where have I heard his name before? How do you not know who he is? asked Lexi, insulted on his behalf. Oh, said Jin, remember now. Once upon a time, Jin and Bo were playing video games when Rin kicked them both off so she could watch her idol Caramel on television. Rin-chan's a fan of his. She watches all his dramas. Who isn't a fan of his? asked Lexi, frowning. Females I mean. You too, Mai and May? asked Jin, unable to tell who is Mai and who is May. The two girls nodded in unison. Wow. I'm surprised that there are celebrities out there that Rin-chan and other girls like. It's usually one or the other. Anyways, Jin, said Lexi, waving him off. Shoo. Girl talk. You have no interest in Caramel so leave us alone. Jin obeyed and went back to picking up tennis balls. He still listened on their conversation because he was bored. He's

coming home using a secret airport but thanks to my connections, I know which one. You guys want to come along? Sure, said Sophronia, smiling sweetly. Mai and May? asked Lexi, excited. The two Chinese girls nodded in unison. It's settled then! I'm inviting the other girls on the team too. We can all go see Caramel come home together. I hear he's super sweet to his fans. Maybe I can get an autograph from him. How long has this break been? asked Yvette, coming over while twirling her racket in the air. You guys are not done with your game yet! Hurry up and finish! I'm sorry, said Sophronia, standing up and walking over to her side of the court. The two Chinese girls did the same with their side of the court. Jin ran over to May and Mai and handed them the tennis balls he collected on top of his racket the entire time they chatted about Caramel. However, Lexi skipped over to Yvette with a smile on her face. Yvette, said Lexi in a sing-sang voice. You want to go see Caramel next week with us? We know which airport he'll be arriving at. I'm out of town next weekend, said Yvette, narrowing her eyes at Lexi. You're a fan of Caramel? His number one fan, said Lexi, pumped up. Then, she jumped to the side with her other personality. I'm his number one fan too, Lexi! He speaks fluent Korean, said Yvette with a nod. Suddenly, she remembered why she was here. Anyways, Yvette glared at them sternly. Stop distracting me! Go back to playing your match! If Doubles Three win, I might consider switching ranks! Oh no, said Lexi with wide eyes. I can't have that! I like my position! Before Yvette left the courts, a tennis ball flew over her head and over the fence to where the boys were playing basketball. Yvette knew who it was and turned her head to the center court where Xuan Lan whistled her usual tune as her ball disappeared into the bushes near the basketball courts. Today, it was Javen's turn to train Xuan Lan so they both smiled innocently at the fuming Yvette. David, said Yvette in a loud voice. Pick up that ball! David jumped at the mention of his voice. Yes Yvette! You're supposed to be ignoring her, said Grim through gritted teeth

under his breath in annoyance. At the reminder, David nodded firmly at his friend and threw his arms up. Who's David? I'm not David. I'm not picking up that ball. Idiot, said Patrick and Grim in unison. Jin Song, said Yvette, shifting her heated gaze to Jin, who wanted to be anywhere but there. Retrieve the ball this instant! Yes Yvette, said Jin, groaning and leaving the courts. Sorry, said David apologetically as Jin went to the bushes. It's okay, said Jin, trying hard to smile. You're on strike after all. I'll help, said David, feeling guilty. The other boys complain as David left the basketball courts and joined Jin in his search. Yvette's been ignoring me all day, Jin. Oh. Then, she suddenly called my name a second ago and it made me really happy. Jin blinked. Oh. I don't even know why, said David, fumbling around and picking up a dirty sock instead. This is so hard. I can't stop thinking about her. The more I try to ignore her the more I think about her. This must be retribution for kicking a dog in my past life. Instead of ignoring her, said Jin under his breath. Have you tried talking to her? About what? You know, said Jin, picking up a golf ball instead. You should ask her why she treats you like this. You can ask for respect from her instead. It would be easier no? Yvette doesn't listen to reason, said David, shaking his head. She's reasonable sometimes, said Jin, smiling gently at David. Last year, my mom was in the hospital so I had to miss this important tennis meeting in which we voted on our team cheer. Yvette let me off the hook that time. She wasn't team captain then, said David in reminder.

But usually, she would still nag me, said Jin defensively. True, said David, convinced. But that's different. Your mom was in the hospital. No one is that cold. Yeah... said Jin, glancing at Jezebelle once. Of course not... Right when David found the tennis ball, the warning bell rung. Cursing his luck, David threw the tennis ball over the fence and onto the courts. Thanking Jin for his advice, David took off to the boys' locker room. Jin went back on the courts to collect the tennis balls while the girls exited one by one to catch a break before practice started. Jezebelle was one of the last ones left on the court since she didn't finish her match with Joyce yet and she refused to let the Filipino girl off the hook that easily. After Jin was done with all the balls on the far left court, he went onto the court where Javen was training Xuan Lan. Jin noticed that Lexi was following him from behind. They greeted each other before Lexi helped Jin pick up a couple of balls with a bright smile on her face. Weary of her intentions, Jin kept his eyes on her. So, Jin Song, said Lexi, beginning her chat. Jin saw it coming from a mile away. Do you know any cute and single Asian guy friends? What about that last guy? asked Jin skeptically. Lexi frowned. His name was Sidney Park and he's taken, according to David. Oh Sidney, said Jin, recognizing the name and remembering the time he spent with the Korean Posse yesterday. How about Eugene Kim? Is he good-looking? asked Lexi, pouting. I can't really judge, said Jin, scratching his head. But he is single and he does want a girlfriend. Introduce me to him, said Lexi, beaming and tugging onto Jin's arm. I'll love to but I'm team manager so I have to stay here, said Jin, grateful for being team manager for once. David and Grim are close to Eugene though so you can ask one of them to introduce you two. Wow, thanks Jin, said Lexi, skipping off. Relieved that Lexi didn't ask him for any more names, Jin ran around the courts to pick up the tennis balls. He didn't understand why he had to pick them up since the girls were going to practice again in fifteen minutes but since it was his job, he had no right to question Coach's ways. Jin noticed that Lexi went up

to Jezebelle to congratulate her for winning the match against Joyce, who looked like she needed more oxygen. Caramel? asked Jezebelle, listening to Lexi's words. Don't tell me you're like ignorant Jin! cried Lexi, pouting. Jin muttered under his breath how he actually knew the idol thanks to Rin. Surely, you of all people should know who Caramel is! Jezebelle laughed diabolically. Don't compare me to bean sprout over there. Jin tripped over the basket full of balls at the mention of him. The reason why I'm shocked at your suggestion is that I don't want you to fucking bother Caramel on his way home! I hate girls who do that so much! It's pathetic! I would never do that in my lifetime. You're not a real fan then, said Lexi, angry. Caramel is born on the 29th of February, said Jezebelle, counting off her fingers. He's five feet and nine inches. He weighs around one hundred thirty pounds. His favorite color is light brown. His favorite hobby is cooking. His favorite method of transportation is bicycling. He is amazing at both math and science, but is horrible at art and history. He donates half of his money to charity. He's born and raised in the countryside of California. He has three younger sisters and no brothers. He knows four different languages. He likes beaches and lakes. And, Jezebelle smiled happily. His stage name is given to him by rock band member KT of RONDO! I didn't think you were into pretty boys, Jezebelle, said Lexi in awe. I'm not, said Jezebelle, annoyed. I only like him because he has a nice body. That's why I love wrestlers and boxers. Men with muscular bodies are fucking sexy. Tell me about it! After Lexi left Jezebelle alone, Jin lifted a brow at Jezebelle, who said happily to him, Who needs to see him at the airport when I can see him in person. What do you mean by that? asked Jin, lost. Jin, said Jordan, motioning at Jin from outside the fence. Seeing Jordan, Jezebelle was glad for the interruption as she left the tennis courts without telling Jin. Sighing at this, Jin dropped the last couple of tennis balls into the basket before he answered Jordan. Yes Jordan?

I'm going to basketball practice so I'll leave the locker combination slip in your backpack okay? Okay, thanks, said Jin, smiling. Suddenly, Jordan froze in his spot the minute he turned around. Curious, Jin followed his gaze to find Bailey coming over to the tennis area. She was as angelic as always with her cello case over his shoulder against her long, curly brown hair. The short Joseph Cruz was walking next to her, which made them look like mother and son rather than girlfriend and boyfriend. Upset, Jordan passed by the two without giving them a glance. Quickly, Jin ran out off the tennis courts and up to Bailey and Joseph Cruz. What's wrong with Jordan? asked Jin, frowning. He still hates Joseph, said Bailey, watching Jordan disappear inside the boys' locker rooms. But he probably hates me more for leaving the group. I wish we can all get along. Yeah, said Jin with a sigh. Bailey tried to smile at Jin. I'm sorry you have to see that, Jin Song. It's okay since I have something important to say without him around, said Jin quickly, curling his hand into a fist. I've decided on what I want to do. Bailey and Joseph Cruz looked at one another. You have? I want to save Jordan. I want Jordan to be able to be himself without having the opinions of others affect him. That is why I need to know what happen to him in the past. Once I know, I'll accomplish my mission no matter what, even if I have to... Jin gave Bailey and Joseph Cruz a determined look. Even if I have to become more popular than him.

Author's Q & A
(Note: I must admit that like The Beauties vs The Brainies chapters... the next chapter and this chapter is supposed to be one chapter but since this chapter turn out to be twenty-two pages long, I had to split it in half again. This story will be even longer now. Wow...)

1) Will Faith be important to the plot in any way?

I try to be fair to all my minor characters. They are equally important and unimportant to the story at the same time. There are a couple of one-shot characters. They will only appear for 1-2 chapters. 90% of the characters are recurring. They add more to the plot and the environment but will they ever be as important as the major eight? I doubt it.

2) Does Faith believe in a spiritual relationship?

Yes, he does. He believes in forming friendships and other types of relationships. He just doesn't want a sexual one.

3) Will you ever have a mass cameo appearances of previous story characters?

There are only a couple of characters who are guaranteed to be in this story (some introduced already): Francis, Mel, Theresa, Caramel, Kevin Lee, and KT. Quinn is questionable right now. I'll figure that one out later.

4) What are their GPA's?

I like this question. XD Jin: 3.0 Rin: 4+ Bo: 3.5 Jezebelle: 2.6 Vance: 3.5 Kristian: 2.3 Jordan: 2.0 Tiffany: 3.8

5) What is Faith's anatomy like?

This chapter answers that question, but if not, I'll make it explicitly clear. Faith has a girl's body. However, in honor of his character, please don't call Faith a he/she. XD Faith is a he all the way. There's no doubt about that in his or my mind.

6) Will you ever have a heavily suggested yaoi/yuri scene?

Wow. This is hard to answer. Yaoi... most likely not (unless you want to imagine it to be). Yuri... possibly since it is canon depending on the character.

7) You have any idea how long this story will be now?

I estimate it in my head and well, the minimum is 50 chapters and the maximum is 90 chapters. That's a 40 chapter difference...

8) Can I steal Kristian's pants?

No, because I own it. :) And everything else of his...

9) Does Rin need sexual healing?

Do you think she does? XD I'm going on a limb and say she needs more of an emotional kind than the sexual kind... Why am I answering this question?

10) Does KrisRin mean all other pairings with Rin or Kristian have no chance?

Nope. KrisRin might pull a KTheresa. Who knows? Same goes with JinJez too. The only pairing I can safely say is canon to the end is Bailey/Joseph Cruz. There is no doubt about that one in my mind.

11) Someone will ask this so I'll answer it right now. What happen to Vance this chapter?

Here's my lame reason: I couldn't find a way to fit him in...
