Generalization

How do you differentiate odd numbers from even numbers? Numbers divisible by 2 are even numbers. Even numbers end in 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8. Even numbers have 2 as a factor. You get an exact answer when you divide them by 2. Numbers when divided by 2 and have a remainder of 1 are odd numbers. Odd numbers end in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. Odd numbers do not have 2 as their factor. That was the day I began to discover the difference between reality and Truth. You see, reality is whatever you are experiencing right now in your life. The thing is, reality can change. Your situation today may be totally different tomorrow... or the next day. Rich or broke, healthy or ill, happy or sad, all the physical and emotional circumstances of your life are as changeable as the tides. Truth, on the other hand, is eternal, unchangeable, and totally trustworthy. Gravity never stops working. Seasons change. The sun rises and sets daily. You don't have to think about any of those things, they just are. BUT, if you learn about them, study them and put their eternal power to work in your life, you can change your circumstances, your reality. Truth is what really takes place. Some Christians believe that God is Truth since he is able to know all things that have happened are happening and will ever happen. Reality can vary from individual to individual and is based to some extent on what they believe and also what they perceive. Humanism is a rational philosophy informed by science, inspired by art, and motivated by compassion. Affirming the dignity of each human being, it supports the maximization of individual liberty and opportunity consonant with social and planetary responsibility. It advocates the extension of participatory democracy and the expansion of the open society, standing for human rights and social justice. Free of supernaturalism, it recognizes human beings as part of nature and holds that values--be they religious, ethical, social, or political--have their source in human nature, experience and culture. Humanism thus derives the goals of life from human need and interest rather than from theological or ideological abstractions, and asserts that humanity must take responsibility for its own destiny. The Philosophy of Humanism by Corliss Lamont 1. 2. Humanism believes in a naturalistic attitude toward the universe and considers all forms of the supernatural as myth. Humanism believes humans are an evolutionary product of nature; that the mind is a function of the brain and there is no conscious survival after death. 3. Humanism believes humans possess the potential power to solve problems through reasoning. 4. Humanism believes humans possess genuine freedom of choice and action and therefore are masters of their own destiny. 5. Humanism believes in a morality that holds as its highest goals: happiness, freedom and progress for everyone irrespective of nation, race or religion. 6. Humanism believes the individual attains the "good life" by continuous self-development, significant work, and activities that contribute to the welfare of the community. 7. Humanism believes in the development of art, the awareness of beauty, and the appreciation of loveliness so that the aesthetic experience may become reality. 8. Humanism believes in democracy, peace, and a high standard of living based upon a foundation of a flourishing economic order. 9. Humanism believes in reason and the scientific method, democratic procedures, parliamentary government, freedom of expression and civil liberties. 10. Humanism believes in unending questioning of basic assumptions and convictions, including its own. Humanism is a developing philosophy open to experimental testing, newly discovered facts, and rigorous reasoning based upon the belief that humans can build an enduring citadel of peace and beauty upon this earth.

Chant even and odd 2,4,6,8,10 -- even numbers let's say it again! 1,3,5,7,9 -- odd numbers, oh my! We define an even number as any integer divisible by two with no remainders. This means that the number can be divided into pairs or two equal groups with no leftovers. The number of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are all even numbers. An odd number cannot be divisible evenly by two. An odd number cannot be divided into pairs or two equal groups with no leftovers. There is always an extra 1 when they are divided by 2. The number 1, 3, 5 ,7, and 9 are all odd numbers. How you can tell that 6 and 8 are even numbers. Add 6 and 8. Is their sum an even or odd number?
