ONE LORD, ONE FAITH Do you suppose the authors of the four Gospels were aware of todays first reading from the second book of Kings? Of course they were. The prophet Elisha fed a hundred men with twenty barley loaves in order to prove Gods power. This same miracle, now multiplied by more people fed by fewer loaves, is attributed to Jesus in all four Gospels. In todays passage from John we even have the detail that the loaves were barley, reminding every pious Jew of that miracle that Elisha worked. Yet Jesus went into hiding when they wanted to make him king. It is the passage from Pauls Letter to the Ephesians that gives us the reason for this. The power of Jesus comes from God. It is not meant merely to feed us, or to provide one group with a king. There is one Lord, one faith, one God and Father of all who works through Jesus Christ and through us all. Copyright J. S. Christmas in July!
As we dodge 100 degree days and falling tree branches from all the summer storms, Christmas seems so far away. However, it will soon be upon us. The ladies of Christ the King CCW are already making plans and preparations for the annual St. Nicholas Fair on December 1 and 2. The Fair will feature handmade craft and bakery items for sale. We welcome your help! We will be accepting donations of handmade craft and bakery items for the fair and we will also be collecting items for raffle baskets. It is not too soon to begin making items for the Craft Table. If you have a special talent, please feel free to make an item or two or three to donate to the table. Last year we were delighted to accept donations of some beautiful afghans and quilts! Watch the bulletin for information about upcoming workshops where we will get together to make craft items such as Christmas decorations and ornaments. If you have any questions or would like to lead us in making a project, please call Anna Weselak, 630-620-7797. Anna Weselak, St. Nicholas Fair Chair Council of Catholic Women

Worship Commission
The mission of the Worship Commission is to celebrate Gods glory in prayer, be a welcoming presence to our brothers and sisters, to experience the call of the Holy Spirit in worship, and to sense the presence of Christ the King, touching our hearts and transforming our lives. The Worship Commission shall be primarily concerned with liturgical ministries and spiritual development of the parish and liturgical ministers. The ministries within the Worship Commission include the following:
Altar Servers: Altar Servers assist the priest at the altar during Mass. This service may help young parishioners to become involved in other ministries of the Parish in the future as well as provide for possible vocational opportunities. Art and Environment: This ministry maintains an atmosphere of natural beauty and prayer in the church building in which parishioners gather for worship, community sharing, and giving to those in need. Church Ushers/Greeters: A ministry of hospitality that meets and greets all who enter, assists parishioners with their needs, and assists with the weekly collection. These men and women are the welcoming face of Christ. A greeter is someone who can reach out to others with ease, have a presence of warmth and truly care about the assembly being at home in the worship space. Greeters are called to the task of hospitality as the assembly gathers for worship, especially reaching out to newcomers. They maintain comfort and order, tending to those who need special attention. Eucharistic Adoration: The closest thing to heaven on earth-that is what Mother Teresa said of visiting Jesus in Adoration. Plan to take advantage of Adoration each Thursday at our Parish. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: These ministers are called to assist the Clergy with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at parish liturgies. Extraordinary Ministers are practicing Catholics who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Holy Trinity-Lady of Fatima Prayer Community: Their vision is to bring people to a personal relationship with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the Fire of the Holy Spirit. Lectors: The Lector proclaims the readings from Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel at Mass. For a few brief moments, the lector has an opportunity to become a storyteller, bringing to the assembly the songs of a poet, the visions of a prophet, or the emotions of an apostle. The Lector also announces the General Intercessions in the absence of the Deacon. Music Ministry: The purpose of the members of the Music Ministry of Christ the King is to encourage the assembly in song and enhance the prayer life of the community through the beauty and joy of music. The Music Ministry supports our Parishs sung prayer by encouraging full and active participation among the parishioners. Parishioners are invited to participate in the: Adult Choir, Ensemble, Teen Ensemble, Childrens Choir and Cantor Program. Sacristan Ministry: One or more parishioners help set up the vessels and other needs in preparation for weekday or weekend liturgies. Those serving on the Worship Commission include Gerry Dean, Joe Marten, and Jan Benshoof. For those interested in serving in a ministry of this commission, simply contact Bill Runge at bill@ctkloombard.org or call the rectory for more information.

This effort is to give language to what we already are aware of that, "A committed, permanent, faithful relationship of husband wife is the root of a family.
