Toronto, Ontario, Canada: Emotion-Focused Therapy for Eating Disorders. Two-


Day Training for Professionals, March 26-27, 2010, at the York University
Psychology Clinic. Facilitated by Dr. Joanne Dolhanty with a morning session by
Dr. Les Greenberg, this workshop will offer skills training in working with emotion
in the treatment of eating disorders. The application of Emotion-Focused Therapy
to the treatment of eating disorders is an exciting and promising new
development in the field. This two-day intensive training will provide a foundation
for understanding and working with the theory and techniques of Emotion-
Focused Therapy, with a strong emphasis on skill development and practice, as
well as on the application of the approach to eating disorders. Video clips of
actual therapy sessions will illustrate the approach both with adult eating
disorders and as an adjunct to Family-Based Therapy with adolescent eating
disorders.

Components and course of therapy with both adults and adolescents, including
the steps of integrating Emotion-Focused Therapy into traditional adolescent
treatment and training parents to be their child’s “emotion coach,” will be outlined.

Food, Body Image and Eating Disorders in the Jewish Community, a half-day
conference for mental health professionals, educators, clergy and family
members on Friday, April 9 – Philadelphia, PA; Friday, May 7 – Bethesda, MD,
and Wednesday, October 27 – Coconut Creek, FL. The conference will address
women’s body image issues and eating disorders in the Jewish Community.
Conference objectives: explore hunger, shame, body hatred & ED in the Jewish
community; examine the place of food in Jewish culture, history & community;
address the rise in ED & related issues in the Jewish community, and develop
strategies for using Jewish tradition, culture, spirituality, text & ritual as resources

20th Annual Conference for Professionals, Feminist Perspectives and Beyond:


Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future. This is a 3-day seminar for
