INTools Support Document Module: Administrator Subject: Creating a backup of an Oracle database to a Sybase SQL anywhere database Remarks: none Step1: Creating the file In the intools directory is a file called intools.db. This file should be about 1.7 Mbytes big. If it is bigger (like 10 Mb or more) it is already used and you should obtain your file elsewhere or re-install intools to get a fresh start database. Make a copy of this file and give it a name that corresponds to the project you are saving (project db) . Step2: Determining the parameters (only for installations before 5.1) Open the intools.ini in the intools directory and write down the values behind ServerName and the Database entry under [database]. These values are needed later in the backup procedure. ServerName=@orc2 Database=orc2 Step3: Performing the actual backup Start the Intools administrator module and enter as System Administrator. From the File pulldown menu (Project in pre 5.1 versions) select the backup option. In the following dialog use the browse button to select the file you previously created.

Press the Connect button. The following procedure is a little different for versions before 5.1 and the 5.1 version of Intools. In the 5.1 version all the parameters are already filled in and you are connected to the database. In the 4.2/4.3 version you create a new project first and select the database you want to backup from later. In 5.1 the procedu re is reversed. First you select the project where you want to copy from and then you create the project.
