Patient Spotlight
In the event that a dental injury occurs, do not hesitate to contact your dentist, orthodontist or oral surgeon. Quick action is required in order to save a tooth that has been knocked out. If possible, replace the tooth into the socket. If unable to insert the tooth, place it in milk and bring it directly to your dentists o ce. Teeth that have been out of the mouth for more than 30-60 minutes have a much lower rate of long-term survival. You may have heard advice to hold the tooth in your mouth on the way to the dentist. We no longer recommend this due to the risk for swallowing or aspirating the tooth. Milk is the next-best solution. Do not place the tooth in water or in an envelope. This allows the cells on the root surface to die and the chance for long-term survival of the tooth is low. We hope this helps! You can always contact us if you have any questions!
