2011
Toro Cooling Systems have developed a complete range of LOpex Sensible Cooling solutions. Latest addition is ZdoT , an energy efficient sensible cooling Unit for free cooling of data centers, which can remove large amount of sensible heat from high power servers using a combination of Indirect Adiabatic Cooling Process and integrated compression refrigeration. The process saves more than 50 to 70% % energy on annualized basis, depending on the geographical location of the data center.

Sensible Cooling option for Data centers & ICT facilities

DATA CENTER COOLING Problem:

Energy costs in India are constantly rising and power grids are already pushed to the limits At the same time, energy consumption of ICT facilities / data centers is increasing at a prodigious rate due to geometric rise in computing. Cooling energy costs in most cases exceed 60% of total energy used. Some of the old data centres still use mixed flow ventilation and have very poor equipment layouts. Many a time, adhoc CRAC additions and positioning is resorted to address the hot spot problems. Little or No attention is paid to energy efficiency. Although, globally, Hot aisle/Cold aisle concept is now considered one of the essential low hanging fruit type of technique to control energy wastage but this practice is still not very will recognised in India As Data center cooling plays a significant role in planning, owning and operating data center, many data centers have started paying attention to energy use at their facilities. Now building codes will also put pressure on these facilities to reduce the energy use by adopting more energy efficient technology.

Simple Solution :
Heat Load: As the conventional refrigeration based, off the shelf equipment is not suitable for this application hence the CRACs (read sensible cooling machines) were introduced for removing sensible heat from these buildings. CRACSs are designed to primarily remove sensible heat loads and hence will not dehumidify the air. In practice it is extremely difficult, energy intensive and expensive solution. Toro cooling Systems is introducing LOpex ZdoT air conditioner, the advanced Indirect Adiabatic Cooling system based on sensible cooling technology. LOpex ZdoT air conditioners meet new ASHRAE guide lines for sensible cooling of data centers at the lowest operating cost while reducing green house gas emissions and use of chemical refrigerants. LOpex ZdoT air conditioners normally work in indirect adiabatic cooling mode but are also fitted with refrigerative back up for those humid days when ambient air does not provide adequate capacity as a heat sink. The cooling process offers fail safe option for continuous heat removal besides ensuring annualized energy savings exceeding 50 to 70% also .

Weather it is Data center or any other high sensible heat factor (SHF) application, LOpex offers most energy efficient and eco friendly solutions.
Principle:
LOpex ZdoT is based on the benefits of evaporative Refrigeration without the disadvantages of adding any moisture to the return or supply air. Sensible cooling of the hot return air from the data center takes place at the Twin Polymer plate heat exchanger working in tandem. The return air is cooled by the adiabatically cooled outside air. This outside air does not come in direct contact the recirculating air as can be seen in the figure above. Further cooling if desired can be achieved using a chilled water or DX coil. This pre cooled air can also be routed to the existing CRACs. Use of these units can now be controlled to after cooling, as and when required. Lopex ZdoT air conditioners use a dedicated microprocessor based control systems for unintruppted, effective and precise process control and energy efficient operation.

Benefits
1. Lowest Operating Cost 2. Usage of Free Cooling 3. Lowest back up Power 4. Lowest maintenance cost 5. No Chemical refrigerant used 6. Lowest carbon foot print 7. Year round uninterrupted operation

Variants available for Indirect Direct evaporative cooling aided by integrated chiller Nominal air output for Return /supply air from 7500 M3/Hr onwards Construction options GI powder coated or stainless steel Lowest water use Can use STP/Bore well water for cooling 7000 CFM 20-23C 12C Fans and pumps 25 KW 5 KWe

Raised floors reduce the operating cost of HVAC systems by limiting the supply of cold air to the maximum height of the rack. Isolation of cold isle and hot isle ensures optimum use of this expensive resource.

Unit capacity Supply air temperature T over the servers Moving parts Avg. Cooling capacity Max Input power

Gradually, because of the poor availability of electrical energy and constantly rising energy costs Isle isolation is being accepted in the Indian data centre installations.

Supply air temperature will always remain stable, due to dependence of the heat sink on fixed ADP. Even if the ambient conditions reach 45 C and humidity reaches saturation, the supply air conditions remain stable
