Two Adult Studies Today – You are invited to gather for Bible study and sharing today at 10:45
a.m. in the youth room or following the 10:45 service in the large classroom. All are welcome!

Young Adult Ministry Monday – All young adults are welcome to meet 7:30pm Monday at Phil
Greve’s for a discussion/study based on the ONE campaign, an effort to address the needs of the
world’s poor, and what we can do locally about it. For directions, see Phil or call 407-923-4506.

Women’s Book Club Tuesday – The Women’s Book Club will discuss Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth
Gilbert 7:15pm Tuesday at SoJ. All are welcome. Call Diane Belk at 249-9195 for details.

2008 Burundi Mission Trip Info Meeting Wednesday – Interested in taking part in SoJ’s 2nd
Mission Trip to Burundi? Attend the planning meeting 8:15pm Wednesday. There are now two trips
of 12: May 28-June 11 & June 11-25. Attendance at Wednesday’s meeting is important!

Men's Breakfast Returns Saturday – All SoJ men are invited to enjoy a great breakfast, Bible
study, and fellowship Saturday at 8 a.m. Sign-up at the Welcome Center.

SoJ Bowling Outing Sunday – Have a ball with SoJ friends at Boardwalk Bowl 2pm next Sunday.
Cost for 2 games and shoes: $11/person. Sign-up at the Welcome Center by Wednesday.

New Member / Disciple Orientation, Jan. 27 – New to SoJ and want to learn more about us
and what it means to become a member / disciple? If so, plan to attend an orientation from 12:30
to 2:30 pm Sunday, Jan. 27th. Lunch will be provided. Sign up at the Welcome Center soon!

Prayer Gathering For Those Facing Economic Insecurity – SoJ will host a prayer gathering,
Sunday, Jan.27th, at 7 p.m. for anyone facing economic insecurity We will pray for jobs and busi-
nesses, for financial and job stability and blessing, for strength, patience, perseverance, peace,
and total security in Christ. If you are facing economic insecurity or you want to stand in solidarity
with those who are, consider yourself invited! And consider inviting a friend who would be blessed
to know that others and God cares for them in their quest for security as well!

SoJ Lenten Prayer Retreat Feb. 9 – Sign-up today for a Prayer Retreat, Saturday, Feb. 9th from
9:30am – 3:30pm at SoJ. Learn some simple activities to enliven your prayer life! Experience

prayer through reading Scripture, listening to music, the visual arts, and silence. Our retreat
leader is Dr. Jonathan Linman (brother of Pastor Jeff), the Director of the Center for Christian
Spirituality at the Episcopal Church Seminary in New York City. Suggested donation: $15, lunch
included.

Interfaith Hospitality Network Hosting Begins Tonight! SoJ starts its periodic reaching out
to IHN homeless families tonight. Remember that the Splash Zone is converted into our guests’
bedrooms this afternoon and will remain that way until next Sunday morning. Please respect the
privacy of our guests and do not enter the Splash Zone until after they depart. Positions still
needing to be filled: Jan. 8, 1 overnight host; Jan. 9, 2 overnight hosts; Jan. 11, 1 breakfast
host, 1 Supper server, Jan 12, 1 host for 9-11 a.m., 2 laundry persons. Please see one of the IHN
captains that have vacancies, Tammy Bryan, Helen Saxen, or Terri Foster, to sign up. Thanks to all
who volunteered to serve our guests and for your prayers for them and for the volunteers that
they will be caring, compassionate and understanding.

January Outreach Team Project - SoJ's Outreach Team is collecting 120 jars of Spaghetti &
Meat Sauce for Harvest of Hope. Place donations in the wagon by the cafe by Jan. 20. Monetary
Donations are welcomed too. Mark an SoJ offering envelope HoH and place it in the offering
basket.

Creative Arts Studio – If anyone would be interested in learning how you can support the
outreach of the Creative Arts Studio to our community, contact Phil Greve! Volunteers are needed
at a variety of levels, from baking cookies for a recital to assisting with the planning of the next
Deck the Halls event. If you have a heart for helping others discover and develop their artistic
gifts, we can find a place for you to plug in!

Bicycle Ministry – Volunteers are needed to help repair bicycles for people in need at 10am on
the 2nd Saturday and 10 am on Wednesdays. To get involved call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

Cleaning Volunteers Needed – If you’re available Thursday mornings, or other times during the
week, PLEASE consider helping clean the building once or twice a month. See Bob Belk today!

Sunday’s COOL Begins New Format Today – Students will be split into three classes, based on
grade level: Pre-K, K & 1st Grade; 2nd & 3rd Grade, and 4th & 5th Grade classes. Students will check
in at individual classes – signs are posted by the door of the Splash Zone and Classroom to
designate classes. 2nd–5th grade students should bring their Bibles to Sunday’s COOL. Many
thanks to the 20 volunteer teachers, substitutes and assistants!

Got Citrus Saturday! SoJ Youth will help feed the hungry by picking citrus from local backyard
trees on Saturday. Meet at SoJ at 8:30 a.m. We will return at 2:00 after lunch at CiCI's Pizza! Sign
up at the Welcome Center and bring friends!

YouthWorks Summer Trip Update! SoJ’s Middle School Youth will be traveling to Savannah, GA
while our High School Youth travel to Bayou La Batre, AL to help with hurricane cleanup. A $50

deposit is due now! Don’t let money be a barrier! Please see our Family Ministry Coordinator,
Nicole Eastwood. Male & Female Adults are needed to chaperone these two trips.

Veggie Tales Movie Jan. 27: The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything – Follow the comic
misadventures of three animated veggie pals who reluctantly set sail for adventure and discover
that real heroes don’t have to be tall, strong, handsome - or even human! This is the latest Veggie
Tales video / movie with values based lessons taught by vegetables! Join others from SoJ to view
the movie at the Waterford Lakes Regal Cinemas, Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2:25pm. Cost for groups of
25+ is $6/person. Otherwise matinee prices apply. Sign up at the Welcome Center!

Leadership Overnight Feb 1st – For youth interested in having a bigger role in SoJ’s youth
program, this group will learn how to lead in character, actions, and practical tips for leading Bible
studies and discussions. Leadership Overnight will be at the Eastwood’s home in Sanford, Friday
Feb. 1, 6:30pm-2pm, Saturday, Feb. 2. See Nicole about being a part of this Leadership Training.

Paid Nursery Attendant Opening –SoJ is still looking to hire a part-time nursery attendant to
work Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interested? See Nicole Eastwood.

SoJ Hosts Cub Scout Pack – SoJ sponsors Cub Scout Pack 134 at 7 p.m. on Monday nights. Boys
6 to 11 years old interested in being a Cub Scout should contact Chuck Call @ 407-375-4548.

Joy Singers – Our adult choir is open to anyone of high school age and up, regardless of
experience! They meet during Wednesday Night Live from 7-8 p.m. in the worship center.

Children’s Choir – This group is open to kids in grade 1-5, and meets during Wednesday Night
Life from 7-8 p.m. in the large classroom.

Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to
lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical
Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group.

Drama Team – SoJ’s Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

CAS Art Classes – Nancy Watson will be teaching art classes soon. Adult Painting starts this
Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-12 noon. Children’s Art (ages 7-10) will start Monday Feb. 4, 5-6 p.m. For
more info, pick up a flyer at Welcome Center.

Private Music Lessons – SoJ’s Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
