Houghton Offshore have stamped their mark of authority on the subsea BOP fluid market with the early development and introduction of the Stack-Magic BOP fluid brand name. Major drilling rig operators, who demand the most environmentally and technologically advanced products available in the market, have used Stack-Magic BOP fluid concentrates successfully for many years. As a result this high quality product backed by attentive customer support laboratories is now specified worldwide. Houghton Offshore is a major supplier of water-based technology to the Offshore Industry and we recognise and continue to respond to the ever-increasing demands to maximise environmental acceptability. Stack-Magic ECO-F has been formulated to meet the current CEFAS and OSPAR requirements and falls into the yellow zone for use in Norway and is classified as an E within the UK chemical notification scheme. Simultaneous investigations have also taken place into the availability of corrosion inhibitors, biocides, and lubricity additives capable of producing this superior quality product, leading to the development of Stack-Magic ECO-F a new generation of blow out preventor fluid, technologically advanced with increased environmental acceptability.

Stack-Magic ECO-F has been tested for biodegradation, bioaccumulation and aquatic toxicity. Tests have been carried out with skeletonema costatum, acartia tonsa, corophium volutator and scopthalamus (fish test). Low Temperature Freeze Protection

Low Temperature Mixing Chart Freeze Protection: Stack-Magic ECO-F is compatible with Mono Ethylene Glycol. Necessary freeze protection can be achieved by addition of MEG made in accordance with the mixing chart. Important Notes for Make-Up Water for Dilutions of Stack-Magic-ECO-F

Under no circumstances should Stack-Magic ECO-F be exposed to make-up water containing calcium hypochlorite tablets (sometimes used to prepare potable water). Houghton Offshore do not guarantee the hard water stability or lubrication performance if such calcium tablets are used. Sodium hypochlorite is an acceptable alternative for preparing BOP make-up water for mixed use as potable water.

General Data
First Point Assessment Registered Company. Metals Compatibility Stack-Magic ECO-F is suitable for use with steel, cast iron, copper, bronze, brass and anodised aluminium. Zinc, cadmium lead and magnesium should be avoided. Seals & Elastomers Stack-Magic ECO-F is suitable for use with nitrile, butyl, ethylene propylene, silicon and Viton seals. PTFE and water-tolerant nylon are also acceptable. The product is not compatible with some polyurethanes. Seal material properties can vary within a classification depending upon compounding techniques. Compounding can enhance or diminish various properties and characteristics. In the case of Buna "N" and Viton certain formulae will be more resistant to water than others. This can also be said for some of the urethanes. Leather and cork are best avoided. Consult your packing and seal supplier for specific recommendations. Paint Likely to have a softening and stripping action on conventional paints. Where conventional paint coatings have to be replaced, those with an acrylic, epoxy or silicone base should be suitable. Storage The product should be ideally stored in dry conditions. Packaging Stack-Magic ECO-F is available in 205 litre barrels. Quality Control The Quality Assurance Procedures of Houghton plc are recognised by the British Standards Institute and the Ministry of Defence as complying with the requirements of BS 5750 Part 2: 1987 (ISO 9002 - 1987) and AQAP4.
