A former administrator for Canton-Plymouth Community Schools is now the assistant superintendent for Milan Area Schools. Peter Kudlak, formerly the director of elementary education in Canton, started his Kudlak new role July 1 and was formally introduced during the Milan Board of Education meeting July 11. Kudlak said he looks forward to a smaller school district and the significantly shorter commute to his home in Saline, where he and his wife are raising two boys, a fifth-grader and seventh-grader. A nationwide campaign deemed Geek the Library has its wheels in motion locally right now at Milan Public Library. Milan reference librarian Sarah Zawacki said the purpose of the
campaign, launched in Milan in June, is to raise awareness about the need for public libraries, while asking patrons about the things they are passionate about. The national campaign was started by the Online Computer Library Center, a nonprofit library cooperative, and funded through

Bob and Marlene Ginter, winners of the August Milan Beautification Award, were selected for recognition by the Milan Garden Club. The garden club sponsors the seasonal contest in conjunction with the Milan Beautification Commission.
The garden club recognizes residents who live outside of the city limits. The couples home is located at 8707 Burneth Road. The one-acre yard filled with bushes and flowers is tended by Marlene Ginter, while the grass cutting and edging is done by her husband, Bob. Im the flower person and Bob is the grounds person, Ginter said. She said her love of flowers came from her childhood home, where her mother kept beautiful gardens. Ginter didnt exaggerate when she described herself as a flower-person. She
