Business Area | Forest Products

From tiny seedling to print power

SCAs forests have been part of the global lifecycle for centuries. As Europes largest private forest owner, SCA assumes the responsibility as a caretaker for current and future generations. For every tree we harvest, three new ones are put in its place. Our responsibly managed forests fulfil the demanding criteria for certification according to the Forest Stewardship Council, FSC, and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes, PEFC. SCA is the worlds largest supplier of FSC-certified products. In addition to pulp, publication papers and kraftliner, SCA offers solid-wood products for building construction and furniture manufacturing. Forest-based biofuels, such as wood pellets, and wind power, are also important parts of SCAs forest business. PowerPot, SCAs new tree seedling, is only half the size of conventional seedlings, meaning that twice as many can fit in each tray. This reduces transportation costs and enables forest workers to carry more seedlings when carrying out planting work. The innovative heart of SCAs forest operations is the Sundsvall R&D Centre in Sweden. Through further processing and customisation, our forest-based product offerings are progressing up the value chain. Integration of our own wood raw material is also a key aspect of the overall business strategy of the SCA Group.
