BUENOS AIRES SUMMER PROJECT (6 WEEKS)

For six weeks, we were joined by a group of twenty-four students and staff from CRU in the states for Summer Project. The goal of Summer Project is to expose college students to ministry and challenge them in their walks with the Lord. During those weeks I had the privilege of serving alongside them at the Engineering campus. This was the rst time as a movement that we have focused on the Engineering campus. The staff here in B.A. had been praying for years to be able to open a movement on this campus and this year it became a reality with the help of Summer Project students! In the photo above you see the faces of two students from the Engineering campus, Virginia and Bruno, who trusted Christ as their Savior this summer. These two students made their decisions the last days that the Summer Project students were here. Starting a movement on this campus was often difcult and many days were frustrating and discouraging for the students and staff as ministry was not easy. We often thought Why has the Lord brought us to this campus? and Are we going to see any change while we are here? Many students were closed to listening and hearing about anything to do with God or the Bible. However, as we know and are constantly reminded, the Lord is faithful and serving on this campus was a reminder from the Lord to be patient and wait for His timing. At the Summer Project going away party, Virginia shared her story with everyone and how she nally had found hope in her life, Christ, the day before. Later that night, while talking and eating dinner, Bruno decided to make that same decision. Everyone was so surprised and excited at the same time! Please continue to pray for Virginia and Bruno as their grow in their relationships with the Lord. Pray that it would be a priority in their lives.

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! Psalm 27:14

SOCIAL PROJECT VALLES CALCHAQUES: LURACATAO

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting GOD, the CREATOR of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary and his understanding no one can fathom. Isaiah 40:28
CRU students and staff here in Argentina made the journey to the north of the country for a two week social project. The northern region is characterized by mountainous desert terrain, rural towns, dispersed population, and many needs - both physically and spiritually. I was placed on a team in one of the most rural areas called Luracatao. There we met and shared with a lot of families, gave out donations of clothes and food, held events for children and their parents, and offered free dental care to families. Of all the many things I could share from a wonderful and challenging experience, I really want to share about Agueda, a single mother of three little girls. My teammate, Cecelia, and I spent several afternoons visiting women in their homes and sharing with them the love of Christ. That may sound clich but the majority of families there consist of a single mother with several children. Many of the older daughters (between 15-19 years old) in these homes also have children living in the same house. One day Cecelia and I set out to visit families and decided to visit the mother of a child we had met the day before. When we arrived she was finishing washing clothes and hanging them up to dry. We shared with her the love that Christ has for her and how He desires for her to know Him personally and to trust Him as Lord and Savior. When we finished, she decided to make the decision to give her life to Christ. When we asked about coming back and teaching her how to study the Bible, she asked us to do it then. We sat down at the table and went through a study on prayer for new believers. She told us that she had always wanted a Bible and never had one. We gave her a new Bible and explained how to use it to study. Needless to say, I was blown away by her eagerness to start studying right away and humbled by the opportunity to give a Bible to someone who had wished for one for so long. We left her house that day renewed and also thankful for being used by God to open someone eyes to His love for them. Praise the Lord for her decision to trust in him! Pray for Agueda as she grows in her relationship with the Lord. Pray that she would be a spiritual leader in her home and in a town that has so many needs. Thank you for your support and for opportunities such as these share with families in rural areas and with students here in Buenos Aires!

Prayer Requests: Please pray as we start our last semester on the Agronomy Campus here in Buenos Aires. Pray for wisdom in how to use our remaining time well. Pray for our newly formed student leadership team for the B.A. movement - that they would follow the Lords direction and help bring new ideas to the ministry!
