=============================================================== Overview HP Insight Diagnostics is a proactive management tool that provides diagnostics and troubleshooting capabilities to assist IT administrators in verifying installations, troubleshooting problems, and performing repair validation. HP Insight Diagnostics Offline Edition performs various in-depth system and component testing independent of the operating system that normally loads at boot time, and is available by booting the Documentation and Diagnostics CD. =============================================================== Availability and Usage HP Insight Diagnostics is distributed on the Documentation and Diagnostic CD. It can also be downloaded from the HP.COM Web site as a Softpaq. Updates may be downloaded from the HP Web site pages at: http://www.hp.com =============================================================== =============================================================== HP Insight Diagnostics offline edition Issues HP Insight Diagnostics offline edition issues are known problems in HP Insight Diagnostics that may or may not be corrected in a future HP Insight Diagnostics release. =============================================================== While running Insight Diagnostics in a non-English language, some messages are still in English. Description Some messages presented to the user may be in English when running in French, Italian, German, Spanish, or Japanese. Workarounds No workaround. -------------When attempting to save a file to Floppy or USB Key, file name cursor is not present. Description

The cursor that should appear in the File name field when saving to a Floppy or USB Key, is not present. Workaround Can still work in the field, just cannot see a cursor. Must click mouse point or highlight area to change file name. No Fix planned. -------------The Perseus Raid controller is not supported Description When the Perseus Raid controller is installed the diagnostics will successfully boot, but the diagnostics will not list the controller nor will it list any of the attached hard drives. Workaround No workaround. Will be fixed in future releases. -------------Booting from SATA Optical drives connected to SATA ports 2 or 3 in the xw9400 workstation are not supported for these diagnostics Description When a booting from a SATA optical drive connected on either port 2 or 3 of the xw9400 workstations, the diagnostics will not boot successfully. Workaround Connect the SATA Optical drive to either of the other 4 SATA ports, 0, 1, 4 or 5. This will be fixed in future releases. -------------On xw460c blade workstation, the Serial Port 0 Internal Loopback test will fail Description Serial Port 0 is a virtual serial port and the diagnostics do not interact properly with it and as a result will report a failure. There is no failure, this is a false failure. Workaround Ignore the error. This will be fixed in future releases. =============================================================== HP Insight Diagnostics offline edition limitations and notes

Diagnostics limitations and notes are usability limitations and issues that the user should be aware of, but should not be considered problems. =============================================================== Systems with 512MB of system memory or less, there will be No keyboard, mouse, or graphics diagnostics supported. Description Due to limited available memory on systems with less than 512MB system memory, keyboard, mouse, and graphics tests have been disabled. Workarounds There are no workarounds -------------Certain devices are not available for testing. Description Network Interface Controllers and the CDROM drive used to boot the diagnostics cannot be tested. Workarounds There are no workarounds -------------All installed memory may not be available for test. Description The operating system dynamically allocates memory mapping for programs. Only the memory that is not being used by Insight Diagnostics is available for test.
