CI Scofield

CI Scofield is one slick deceptive character in not only in dealing with prophecy but in
brainwashing many Christians about the Bible. Joseph Canfield wrote a book about him
entitled ‘The Incredible Scofield and his Book.‘ Scofield being exposed is easy, but his history
spreads into many avenues. His total name is Cyrus Ingerson Scofield and he was the author
of the Scofield Reference Bible. His Bible continues to spread dispensationalism, but his Bible
omits the key fact of the Bible saying the saints will suffer through the Tribulation.
Dispensation is mentioned in the verses of Ephesians 1:10 and 3:2. Also, Scofield was married
twice. He even courted his future second wife Hettie van Wark before his divorce was finished.
He married her only 3 months after they did. His first wife Leontine admitted that Scofield
refused to support him. She listed that fact while filling for divorce in July of 1881. Scofield
was a partner with John J. Ingalls, who is a lawyer, in a railroad scam which led to Schofield
being sentenced to prison for criminal forgery. People like 33rd Degree Freemason George
Bannerman Dealey, who was the owner of the Dallas Morning News, supported Cyrus.
Ironically, George was a member of Scofield’s church. Cyrus Scofield in 1892 called himself
Dr. Scofield when he didn’t produce any Doctorate degree from any Seminary or University at
all. Scofield sought out occult-affiliated heretics of Wescott and Hort in London to produce his
Reference Bible. Wescott and Hort were not only pro-Papists but denies many of the tenets of
mainstream Christianity. Scofield love Wescott and Hort's Revised Version of the Bible (which
is different from the Textus Receptus stream of the Scriptures coming from Asia Minor. The
Wescott/Hort link comes from the corrupt manuscripts out of Alexandria, Egypt. The Vatican
supports the Wescott and Hort bible versions. Some of these version came form the Vaticanus
and Sinaiticus manuscript lines among others). Sinaticus was found in a waste basket, while
the Vaticanus was of course found in the Vatican library. Vaticanus omits Genesis 1:1 through
Genesis 46:28; Psalms 106 through 138; Matthew 16:2,3; Romans 16:24; the Pauline Epistles;
Revelation; and everything in Hebrews after 9:14. The Vaticanus and Sinaiticus manuscripts are so
clearly corrupt that Dean Burgon was at a loss to explain textual scholars accepting them as valid. He
concluded that those manuscripts have “established a tyrannical ascendancy over the imagination of
the critics which can only be fitly spoken of as blind superstition.” (LES GARRETT, WHICH BIBLE
CAN WE TRUST?, p. 151 (1982). James Whisler and many other Bible Believers exposed Hort
for a long time now. Hort believed in the Hinduism-like Darwinian version of Evolution,
believed in purgatory, and accepted baptismal regeneration. In addition, Westcott and
Hort were both necromancers who were members of an occult club called the
“Ghostly Guild.” Both men were apart of the occult Hermes Club as well (HP
Blavatasky believed that Hemes and Satan are one and the same). Scofield praised
Hort and Westcott in his introduction to the 1909 Scofield Reference Bible. Scofield promoted
the phrase of "at-one-ment" which is a New Thought/Theosophist/New Age phrase. It
represents the oneness of humans and God together. Of course, that's unbiblical and false
since man can never be like God at all. That's different than the concept of atonement means
the reconciliation with God by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. So, Scofield
accepted many errors and distorted prophecy theology. The same new world order crowd (or
establishment) is trying its best to attack the Word of God indeed. The Word of God is a guide
to help people not only follow God’s commandment, but makes clear distinctions between
what is right (and what is wrong) in the world. The important of the Word of God are clearly
apparent in the Bible:

By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the
breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he
layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the
inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he
commanded, and it stood fast. (Psalms 33:6-9 AV)

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God,
which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as
the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the
word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is
preached unto you. (1 Peter 1:23-25 AV)

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make
thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:15 AV)

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified
seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this
generation for ever. (Psalms 12:6-7 AV)

Now, the Gnostics and especially the Roman Catholic have tried to manipulate or suppress
the Bible for years. For example, at the Council of Terragona in 1234 A.D. the Roman Catholic
Church prohibited anyone from possessing any part of the Old or New Testaments in any of
the Romance languages (Portuguese, Spanish, Catalan, Provencal, French, Rhaeto-Romance,
Italian, Sardinian, and Romanian). In 1229 at the Council of Toulouse (Pope Gregory IX
presiding), the Vatican forbid laymen from translating the Holy Scriptures into their vulgar
tongue (or the common language of the country). In 1559 the Roman Catholic Index Librorum
Prohibitorum (Index of Prohibited Books), non-Catholic Christian versions of the Bible were
prohibited to be read. On September 8, 1713, Pope Clement XI issued his Dogmatic
Constitution, Unigenitus, which in part condemned as error the teaching that all people may
read the Sacred Scripture. Even Pope VIII criticized meek Bible Societies as “infidels.” William
Tyndale was burned at the stake by Vatican extremists for just translating the Holy Scriptures into
English (so they could be available to all people). False Bibles existed way back then. Origen
translated a corrupt Septuagint and ironically he believed in reincarnation (and he denied Hell).
Tyndale’s Bible and the King James version of the Bible came from the Greek Textus Receptus line.
The corrupt Latin Vulgate (which was translated by Jerome) became the basis of the Catholic
Church’s Jesuit Douay-Rheims English translation of the Bible. It’s a historical fact that Jesuits
Lucunza and Francisco Ribera created the modern, apostate theologies of preterism and an
unbiblical form of futurism (which include a “secret rapture“).

Jesuit Cardinal Robert Ballarmine promoted Ribera’s teachings. Ribera didn’t even fully
explain the literal fulfillment of Daniel 9:25 (which talked about from the command to rebuild
Jerusalem to the arrival of the Messiah the Prince to Jerusalem would be 483 years of the
Hebrew Calendar). This was fulfilled when Jesus Christ literally came into Jerusalem. Biblical
futurism talks about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, the Millennium, and the new
Kingdom of God existing after the Tribulation (and after the reign of the Antichrist). CI Scofield
is right to point out that Bible prophecy describes a Tribulation, the Second coming, and
Messiah’s new Kingdom of God. Yet, the term rapture isn’t present in the Bible at all. The
Greek word for being caught up is “harpazo” as found in the Bible. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
describes that the Antichrist comes first and then the coming of Jesus Christ. The reality is
that the Bible and even the early church focus on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ after the
Tribulation (or the Post-Trib Rapture). For 18 centuries, Christians had believed in what is called
today the Post-Trib Rapture—that is that when Christ returned they would be caught up with him.
However, several Protestant groups in Ireland, Scotland and England with Jesuit ties began
preaching a secret Rapture after Margaret's visions. A confluence of two sources, a Scottish lady
Margaret McDonald with her visions, and the Irvingites, helped influence Darby to adopt the Pre-
Rapture theory. Since that time a interesting host of religious leaders have promoted the Secret Pre-
Trib Rapture, Herbert Armstrong, Oral Roberts, Seiss (one originator of Pyramid prophecy ideas), Hal
Lindsey, and the suspected 33° Mason and Southern B aptist Billy Graham.

John Nelson Darby is a famous religious scholar of the prophecy world. He is the founder of
the Plymouth Brethren Movement. He was an early huge player in the creation of modern Bible
versions. Lisa Ruby discovered something more about this person. She found that his
translation and his doctrinal writings have New Age/occult words like "the coming one." The
coming one is definitely utilized by New Agers from all over the world. The coming one is
another word for their version of a Christ figure (or the Antichrist). This phrase is found in the
Great Invocation. The Great Invocation deals with a world prayers where New Agers and
occultists wish to have their agenda fulfilled on this Earth. The Great Invocation came about
as early as the 1940's. They cite the name of Christ (or the coming one) ironically not the name
of Jesus Christ. The coming one is also a known Theosophical Society term. John Darby
marked his Synopsis of the books of the Bible with the words of "the coming one." He
supposedly want to identify God, but God isn't called the coming one at all in the Scriptures.
Theosophists believe the coming one or the World Teacher will exist in the consummation of
the age (as Theosophists don't believe in the end of the world). Lisa Ruby found other occult
words in the John Darby Bible. Darby's apostasy is interrelated to the apostasy of Scofield as
well (even Scofield's Bible changed Hell into Hades at many verses). In fact, John Nelson
Darby promoted the concept of dispensationalism (which is true in the sense that God deals
with man in different times in different ways. For example, God told the Israelites to work in
the Temple. Today, Christians don't do that anymore). Later, Cyrus Ingerson Scofield
summarized Darby's doctrines in the 1909 and 1917 editions of the Scofield Reference Bible.
Scofield promote the word of at-one-ment (which is a New Age term that teaches the oneness
of humans and God) instead of the full word of atonement. So, apostasy in prophecy research
runs deeper than previously thought. There are still real prophecy researchers and Bible
scholars presenting the truth though. We have to be careful. There is nothing wrong with
accepting real prophecy from Scriptures, but we should reject New Age/occult doctrines in
our world.
