READY TO INSTALL LOW COST TOILETS.

STAGE 1.
A pit is dug and filled with straw, leaves, agri waste, kitchen waste and any other bio degradable waste available near the house. The pit may be lined with half brick thick wall built in mud mortar so that surrounding water does not come inside and also loose soil does not fall in to the pit. The digging of pit and masonry construction will be done by the beneficiary.

STAGE 2.
Steel skeleton is nut bolted in place. Plastic agri crates which are readily available with farmers are kept in place below the excreta depositing holes. This work can be done by any unskilled man or beneficiaries themselves.

STAGE 3.
Next the flooring consisting of locally available stone slabs are placed in position. Chamber covers are fixed in position. The central hole is provided for Urine separation and it Is collected in a plastic jar and given to trees with dilution with water. The erection process is very simple and mass toilets can be constructed with this system. The system is most suitable for remote and far flung areas where transporting building materials will be very difficult and costly.

STAGE 4.
The surrounding enclosure is fixed to steel members. This material can be coloured pre coated steel sheets, galvanised sheets, bamboo chatai, plastic sheets etc depending upon availability of material and money. The beneficiary may be given steel skeleton, door and roof only and they may provide enclosure as per their choice. So overall cost will be reduced.

Stage 5.
Roofing sheet placed in position. The overall look of toilet will be very good and it will go well with local environment and landscape. The weight of toilet unit will be around 60 to 70 kg so it can be relocated anywhere. It is durable and long lasting.

Stage 6.
The door is fixed in place. Stone slab is provided on back side ventilation chamber. Stone slabs will also be provided surrounding the toilet so that no mud will enter the toilet and there will be overall neatness and cleanliness around. This toilet is eco friendly and will generate constant income to farmers.

Stage 7.
View of completed toilet. The toilet will generate Nitrogen Fertilizer in the form of Urine and wormi compost and also earth worms for his own farm or sale to other farmers in his village. A family of 5 persons will generate, 1500 liters of Urine. 750 kg of excreta. Approximately 200 kg of wormi compost. 50 to 100 kg of earth worms in a year.

Overall Economics.
If one water Filter and a healthy Toilet is provided to each house it can be considered as Health facility cum Organic Manure Manufacturing business. The overall gains will be, Saving on medical cost. Increase in agricultural production. Sale of earth worms. Overall cleanliness in a village and well being experienced by the villagers. Encouragement to Organic Manure and Organic Farming. All this will have to be done by involving SELF HELP GROUPS and mainly the women who can be a driving force behind this Co-Operative Health, Sanitation and Organic Farming Movement. The overall Management will be done by Women Group only and what we wish to show in this Model Demonstration Project is Health and Sanitation Facility can become an Agri Resource Generating Activity and should be developed as Micro Business, with all activity will be overseen and managed by the Women Entrepreneur Group.
